Pechanga RV Resort & Casino, Temecula, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here many times and found to be a nice place, EXCEPT if you get a back-in site. The management has cut a pathway in the rear bordering shrubs that allows others to pass/walk through your site to reach the next row of campsites, which is usually friends or family. How RUDE! of course they don't ask or say excuse us, they think this is acceptable. And please forbid it is a rowdy/uncouth bunch. That makes it more worse! Will not accept a deluxe site again which is a back-in. Also, most sites facing north is not satellite dish preferred. We camped at Pechanga RV Resort & Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Pioneer Beach Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

The first night we were given a premium back-in which was very nice, except for the constant parade of golf carts. Site was concrete with good utilities. Nice grass between sites and spacious. We had to move and was given a standard pull-thru for two nights. That was so objectionable. Site was gravel and extremely close to neighbors. Utilities were acceptable, interior road OK but watch out for the golf carts. It was like the L.A. freeways. The bath house was clean and each lockable shower room had a restroom area. Lots of permanent residents, which are easily identifiable. At check-in, I gave my credit and Good Sam card but the rate didn't reflect the discount. Returned to the office to question the missing discount and was told I would have received the discount if I had shown my Good Sam card. After a little discussion, I was given a credit for the discount. A very large CG and needs a map just to find the exit. Would stay here again, but never, never, never in a standard pull thru. We camped at Pioneer Beach Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Jamaica Beach RV Park, Galveston, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this CG for 3 days. This CG is very much oriented to children and has plenty for them to do. Miniature golf, splash pad, the pools, lazy river and other activities. With that said, expect plenty of children running loose in the streets and running thru campsites. They do offer fresh pizza in the office and a good breakfast on Wednesday and Saturday at a reasonable price. The CG is a distance from Galveston where some activities can be found. This CG is across the road from the beach and public access. Staff was pleasant and overall the CG was crowded. The site was decent asphalt, utilities in good working order and interior roads were good. Watch out for the one-way streets. Would stay again. We camped at Jamaica Beach RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We selected this park based on Good Sam review and CG Guide indicating an on-site restaurant. Found the restaurant closed until Oct, guess only open for snowbirds. The roads are gravel and also the sites. Good navigation within the park. Extremely quiet! A very enjoyable over-night experience. Staff was very helpful. Didn't try Wifi and cable was decent. Would stay here again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Top of the Hill RV Resort, Boerne, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

CG sits on top of a steep hill. The road are gravel as is the site. New clubhouse and very well stocked with activities. Very clean showers. Our site was near to the pool equipment which ran constantly. Staff was very polite and helpful. Lots of extended residents, but not junky. Just off I-10 near a good restaurant, Po-Po's. Will stay again. We camped at Top of the Hill RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Camelot Village RV & Mobile Home Park, Lubbock, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Only 6 nightly spaces, the others from what I saw were long-timers. The long-timers kept their spaces clean. Roads are asphalt and are very well maintained and the sites are concrete and level. We had a table and BBQ pit. Pool was very crowded due to the large number of long timers. Campground is located to good eateries and a club discount store across the street. Quiet, except someone did complain about a nightly visitor running their generator, no rules against that. There is one shower for men and one for women. Showers were not very clean and mold in the stalls. Otherwise, we would return. We camped at Camelot Village RV & Mobile Home Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sun & Fun RV Park, Tulare, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The spa was broken and the pool rules are not in effect once the office closes. The permanent resident children jump in the pool with street clothes and play with the life rings in the pool. Freeway noise was low but truck and trains were loud. I can handle the trains but the trucks were too much. Utilities were very good and my space was too tight due to trees. Unable to open the awning and had to reposition many times to avoid two slide-out from hitting trees and utility poles. Staff was great, CG was fairly clean except for the many permanent resident's junk. My site was level and the interior roads are navigable. The pad was concrete. May return again. We camped at Sun & Fun RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sac West RV Park and Campground, West Sacramento, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

Site was no where close top being level and was gravel with bad ruts. The heat on this stay was bad and all we could get was 105 for volts and dropped to 99! Totally unacceptable. The roads are somewhat passable. Didn't have any problems expect for the lack of good power. Neighbor was so close my awning was 3' from neighbor. Told my wife if I ever thought about this CG again to please put me out to pasture cause I am GONE! Would not stay here again. We camped at Sac West RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Caliente Springs Resort (55+ park), Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first visit to this park. No real complaints. We had site 304, which was in the southwest corner of the property. The pad was packed dirt/sand with a concrete patio. Utilities were good with the utilities located at the rear of the site. Didn't try their cable, used our satellite dish. The wind can howl but we did enjoy the fresh air and clear nights for star gazing. This resort is full of park models and golf carts and did have open spaces for travelers. The pool and 4 spas are fed by hot mineral springs which was very enjoyable. There are many activities such as cooking classes, movies on Mondays, pickelball, golf and many others. The roads are tight for large RVs but worked OK for TT. The main gate closes at 4pm so a keycode is needed for entry. Clean shower/locker room and laundry. A keycard must be purchased at $5 before you can use the machines. It works as a debit card as you load it with funds to use the machines ($1.50 to wash and $1.75 to dry). We did enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Restaurants are few in town. Dining will be found in the Palm Springs proper. Since there are many "residents", they tend to be "clique-ish". Trash receptacle is located outside of the park, along with the dog park. This place is SO large, a map is need to navigate. Would return again. Mojave Narrows Regional Park, Victorville, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Be advised, if you reserve online they will add a $7 reservation fee. My observations of this county-owned CG is as follows. The check-in process goes very smooth if you have reservations. Staff is very friendly but they do not enforce the rules unless they are called on to enforce. The rules say no parking on the grass, yet staff turns a blind eye to that rule. Once 4pm arrives and staff leaves, this institution is then ran by the inmates, no staff around. That meant for paid campers to open the gate and let all their visitor vehicles (I've seen 6+ vehicles at one campsite) in without paying. The pads are cracked-asphalt and so are the roads, with big potholes. Most sites are not close to level. Regarding the restrooms/showers, I would not bathe a dog in there! Absolutely filthy. The sites are very large, too large. That lends to having the roving hooligans to use reserved campsites for park-like activities. After all, this is a county-owned/ran CG and it reflects that fact. The following is not fault of the CG. There is heavy train noise during the week and less on weekends. On this weekend, there were roving bands of young hooligans running amok. Riding bikes, scooters through campsites and a total lack of etiquette for other campers. But that comes from a lack of parenting. Our neighbors on this weekend, saw fit to park their moto-bikes in our campsite and park their visitor vehicles there also. I did solicit the help of staff and they took care of the problem. I would not visit this CG again, this CG is the pits! We camped at Mojave Narrows Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

East Shore RV Park, San Dimas, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a review while staying at "A" loop, site 115. The area was clean, a few beer bottle tops and cig butts laying around. Site was asphalt and level and green grass all round. In this site, there are large trees blocking the southern sky, so no satellite dish reception. Cable was just OK, analog only. OTA was decent as L.A. area has a ton of digital channels. The road on "A" loop is asphalt and very narrow. Watch out for extended stay residents, parking their many vehicles close to the road. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed Saturday - Wednesday. The weekend was ripe with battalions of kids throwing balls and riding bikes and scooters. During the weekdays, the commuter rail with horns blaring and commercial airliners begin their day at 5:30 a.m. This campground is adjacent to a small airport, which also houses LE helicopters coming and going throughout the night. In the morning, private airplane traffic begins. Also, the CG is in the departure path for Ontario Int'l Airport. Mid-morning and early afternoon is kind'a quiet. Then the commuters start coming home on the rails. Didn't visit the pool. A large CG and very full.

Will be returning again in January. Reserve early for "A" loop. The reason is it overlooks the small airport and has a great view of the mountains and valley. We camped at East Shore RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Banning Stagecoach KOA, Banning, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here before. It is located adjacent to a high school, on Friday nights you may experience football games. But it was not objectionable. When I called for the reservation, I was given space 70. Upon arrival (after the office was closed) we were switched to site 73. Arrived at site 73 to find it previously assigned to another RV. To solve this issue, we pulled into the best suited open site for us. I'm sure we took someone's assigned site. This location was quiet and a very few children running around. Utilities were acceptable, didn't try the pool, cable or WiFi. Our site didn't have large trees but most sites do. The sites are packed gravel and somewhat level. The streets are asphalt. The grounds were neat and tidy. The are was windy but not that bad. Just windy to not extend awnings.

We did enjoy sitting out in the evening and watching the wonderful sunsets and sunrises.

For a pull thru, the site was just long enough for a 30' TT. Had to park sideways and barely made it.

Overall, it was quiet and will return again. We camped at Banning Stagecoach KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Pechanga RV Resort & Casino, Temecula, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Yet another stay at Pechanga. Major construction at the casino, which has changed the entrance to the RV Resort. If possible, get a site as close to A Street as you can. This keeps you away from the construction equipment noise during the week days. Don't know what's up with the hot water in the showers. If you like a cold shower with just a "tudge" of warm water then this is for you. I took my showers 'round 10 AM and no hot water. I noticed the wind gusts starts early afternoon and continues till late evening. Sometimes the gust are VERY strong. Someone in a TT left for the day and their awning was extended. Boy did they have a surprise when they returned! Kind of had a small ant problem at my site, this is the first time for this problem. The sites with picnic tables are getting new tables. Saw them being assembled.

Overall, my 4-day stay was nice and restful. Called for the free shuttle to the casino and they were prompt. I stayed from Sun - Thurs and all the noise-making camper were gone, except for one bunch just behind me. Will stay again. We camped at Pechanga RV Resort & Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Rockwell RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

CG was gravel, site fairly level. Cable was pathetic, water and electric sufficient. Indoor pool but didn't use it. Our site was SO close to our neighbor, we could pass tea bags. The saving redemption was our driver's side was next to their driver's side. Good navigation roads. Staff was wonderful. Close to I-40 and there was noise. Residents were quiet. Some stored, junk RVs are in the back. A bunch of good restaurants are across I-40 (Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse). Would stay again for another two nights. Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't have another unit behind us in the pull-through. Power was good and water pressure good. 50 amp only at our site. If wishing to use Passport America, there are some steep restrictions. Only ONE shower stall for men and one for women. The location is on the river but no swimming. The bridge light show was good. No trees or grass, except for at the river bank. Staff was very helpful. Security was good. Because this CG is owned by the city, it is patrolled by NLRPD. Would return again. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
