Brownlee Lake Park Resort & Campground, Thessalon, Ontario

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This little campground was a very pleasant surprise. It is situated on a pretty lake, away from busy roads, with friendly owner who made us feel very welcome. It may be a little tight for really big rigs but we managed to manoeuvre the access road with our 36ft 5th wheel. Our site #2 was a good sized, grassy pull through with a lake view and reasonably level. The bathrooms are small but very clean. There is a dock for lake access (we used our kayak) and a little beach. Plenty of room to walk the dog and she enjoyed swimming too. There is no WiFi and our cell signal was weak but we managed. We had a peaceful, relaxing stay and would come here again. We camped at Brownlee Lake Park Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Sturgeon Falls KOA, Sturgeon Falls, Ontario

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice KOA, with facilities for adults, as well as children. It is a pretty setting on the river with a small dock and access. Sites are a little close together, unless you manage to get one of the end ones, like we did, but are level and grassy: a mix of back in and pull through. Washrooms are good but there are only 2 unisex ones (plus a couple in the office) so could be a queue at busy times!

There is a big grassy area over the little inlet that the campground is situated on which was great for exercising our dog! The owners are incredibly friendly and attentive and make you feel very welcome. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Camping Joie De Vivre, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is well positioned, within easy reach of Montreal but it is only average. There is a pool (didn't use) and a grassy field for recreation, but that is all. The visitor sites are mainly pull throughs and fairly close together. The main issue with us was that two sites shared the same electrics post, so you park top to tail and have to share the same sitting out area! This is not acceptable to us as we like a minimum of privacy at least, especially as we have a dog. We have marked it as 'bad' for this reason alone. It was level, grassy and partially shaded, but we don't want to share! Bathrooms are a hike for most sites and pretty shabby. On the plus side, they have card gate security, it is close to the local town and there is an RV dealership right next door. We camped at Camping Joie De Vivre in a Fifth Wheel.

Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground, Baddeck, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we have stayed here and we think it is a very good campground. We ask for the pull throughs in the 240/250s range and they are quite spacious - obviously not as large as you can get in a Provincial or State park, but good for a commercial campground. We have a 36 foot 5th wheel, with 3 slideouts (on both sides) and we're fine. There was plenty of room to park our truck without feeling cramped. The campground has all of the facilities, good washrooms, pool, woodland trail, convenience store (with complimentary DVD rentals) and a campers' lodge with free coffee, TV, pool table etc. The owners are friendly and helpful, and it is dog friendly. The campground is only a 5-10 min drive to Baddeck. We like it here. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

New Glasgow Highlands, New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground. There are only 15-20 sites (the rest are neat little cabins) but it is attractively landscaped and immaculately maintained. This place is absolutely nothing like those 'parking lot' style of campground that we hate! The sites are tidy and of good quality and size. There are a few pull throughs, the rest back-in, and all but a couple offer full services. The wifi is excellent here. The bathrooms are some of the nicest seen anywhere. The sites are generally roomy and very private, set into wooded areas and so also shady. There is an open field and small playground for the children and a short, woodland walk which is perfect for dog walkers. We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends. We camped at New Glasgow Highlands in a Fifth Wheel.

Graves Island Provincial Park, Chester, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for two periods of 3 nights, two adults and a Golden Retriever. This is a lovely Provincial campground and, unlike many of the others, the loop with water and electricity is not just an open field with the sites lined up resembling a car park. No, here the area has been planned and the sites are well spaced, angled for privacy, level and graveled. The unserviced loops are also attractive. Many have lovely views of the beautiful Mahone Bay and Islands. You pay a refundable $3 for a pass card to lift the barrier and so do not get the annoying drive bys of non campers. The bathroom block is not large but we do not use it so cannot really comment. WiFi only available at the office. There is a well defined and surfaced trail all around the island and picnic places with sea access. We love this park and it is our 'go to' place often throughout the summer! We camped at Graves Island Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Glooscap Campground, Parrsboro, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed with 3 other rigs over the Victoria Day weekend. This is a friendly campground and check in was easy. There are a number of seasonal sites, but they seem to have left the best ones for visitors. We had a good end site, with an unobstructed view of the Bay and a large grassy area in front of us. The site was of a decent size, although some were smaller, with a grassy surface. We did not use the washrooms but others in our group did and commented that they needed renovation. We could not get the WiFi at our site, although I understand it was accessible closer to the office and entrance. A nice place to stay. We camped at Glooscap Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
