Springville / Provo KOA, Springville, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Terribly cramped sites. My front door was about five feet from my neighbor's sewer drain, totally unacceptable. Most the other sites were similarly arranged with the neighbor's sewer drain very close. My picnic table was nearly underneath my neighbor's slide out. Lots of permanent residents. The place was quiet, though, so that was a plus. Friendly staff, too. Train tracks are nearby but I did not notice them. This is okay for an overnight stay if you need hookups, but go somewhere else if you plan to stay longer. We camped at Springville / Provo KOA in a Motorhome.

Keen Lake Camping & Cottage Resort, Waymart, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

Mixed bag on this place. Way too expensive for an overnight or two. The lake (with good fishing) is beautiful and our lakeside campsite was stunning. But our 30-amp site was far from level. Bring quarters for the showers - 25 cents per 5 minutes. The clerk in office said the charge was "to keep people from wasting water." Lots of seasonal campers in nice rigs. We stayed on a Saturday night. A DJ played in the "barn" until 11 p.m., and it sounded like a car with a boom box was nearby - maybe fun for some guests, but for those looking for peace and quiet, annoying. This might be a wonderful place to spend a month or season and probably a great place to bring kids because the pool and the beach are super nice with water craft rentals, too. But for short stay without kids, not a good bang for the buck. We camped at Keen Lake Camping & Cottage Resort in a Motorhome.

Liberty Harbor RV Park, Jersey City, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

If this park were anywhere else, I'd advise to stay elsewhere. It's basically a parking lot, with RVs packed in tightly. But the location! Walk 10 minutes to a New Jersey PATH station for a quick subway ride (about $2.50 each way) into Penn Station or the World Trade Center in Manhattan. Or walk three minutes from your site to take the passenger ferry ($7 each way). No other RV park offers such easy, quick access to Manhattan. The park and its adjoining marina is in a safe neighborhood and there's 24 hour security. Depending where your site is located, you may see the Statue of Liberty or the Freedom Tower. The WiFi worked well at all hours. The park is at the end of a dead end street so there is no traffic noise at night (it's actually very quiet). If you are visiting NYC, then paying $80 a night to stay here is a bargain. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Scott's Tent and Trailer Park, Niagara Falls, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of grass, many shade trees and level sites. Next door to the KOA but far less expensive and probably just as good. Best thing about the park is that a metro bus stops right in front and takes you downtown to the main attractions of Niagara Falls - $7 a day unlimited rides. Runs every half hour. Our neighbors next door and across from us were noisy both nights, but the management did nothing. Six WiFi channels, but it was hard to get even one to work. Once it did, the speed was okay. But the WiFi was undependable for the most part. The park is between a busy road and railroad tracks with an adult "girlie" store across the street. But none were an issue, noise or otherwise. Good grocery store is a five minute walk away. We camped at Scott's Tent and Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Detroit Greenfield RV Park, Ypsilanti, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This place works if you need a place to stay in the Detroit area. It's the closest we could find to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. The staff was friendly. We took Uber (like a Taxi) to the museum - about $35 each way. The sites out front in the non-shaded area are fairly neat with adequate space in between, but there's a real junky area back in the woods where long-term residents live. The WiFi is a joke - didn't work except once at 6 a.m. The lake is nice with a big slide kids must love. But the beach itself is tiny with hardly any sand and it can be muddy. Verizon phone and data works well. We camped at Detroit Greenfield RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lakeshore Park Campground, Saint Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place. View of Lake Michigan. Quiet. Spaces fairly tight, but do-able. Best part of staying here is free shuttle to and from Mackinac Island. Just call a half hour ahead of time and it picks you up. Walk to the lake shore for pretty sunsets. Extra charge for A/C and electric heater is a bit much. Good laundry. Overall a pretty, peaceful park. We camped at Lakeshore Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Otter Lake Campground and Lodges, Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is the kind of place in the woods you want to bring your kids or grandkids for a week. It has the feeling of a campground from 50 years ago. Pretty little fishing and small-boat lake with "just okay" sandy beach. Rent paddleboats, canoes or kayaks. Playground with tetherball and a big sand volleyball court. The sites are a mixed bag, some tight, some spacious, some level, some not. My site only had 20 amp, so be sure to ask before arrival if you need 30. The WiFi only works right at the office, and Verizon cell and data service works on and off (mostly off) - one bar at best. AT&T data is "no service." Long trail through the woods to walk your dog. The park is about a 15 minute drive into Munising. This is a good place to relax in a setting pretty as a postcard. We camped at Otter Lake Campground and Lodges in a Motorhome.

Jack Pine Lodge Campground, Manistique, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful campground. 19 miles from Manistique on state route 41. Peaceful. Sites well spaced. Super clean restrooms. Have dinner in the rustic "road house" restaurant. Whoever owns this campground really cares and it shows. Only negative is WiFi is only available near the restaurant/office, not in the campground. Verizon Hotspot does not work but AT&T does. Price is for full hookups. We camped at Jack Pine Lodge Campground in a Motorhome.

Marquette Tourist Park, Marquette, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Huge place. Shaded. Big rigs fine. Two girls in the office were very friendly and helpful. The 30-amp electricity did not work in the first two sites I pulled into, but it was fine in the one where I settled. Some sewer hookups are way too far away from the sites to use (i.e. Space 92). Some site pads are dirt, others paved. They all looked fairly level. My Verizon Hotspot worked fine. This is an okay place, but nothing special. I'd stay somewhere else next time. We camped at Marquette Tourist Park in a Motorhome.

Memorial Park Campground, Washburn, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park in a beautiful setting. Lots of shade with spacious campsites. Electric hookup only. Arrive with your water tank full. Not easy to find water to fill up at the park. Short walk to downtown. Located right along Lake Superior, a few sites actually overlook the lake. This is a good place to spend a day or two. Excellent Verizon and AT&T phone and data service. We camped at Memorial Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Klint Safford Memorial RV Park (The Iron River RV Park), Iron River, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice place. Well maintained. Walk to the small downtown in 5 minutes where there are restaurants, bars and an IGA grocery store. WiFi is okay, but not great (slows to a crawl at times). Campsites near the road pickup the free WiFi from the hotel across the street, which is fast. Verizon and AT&T signals are strong. We intended to stay one night but ended up staying four because it was so comfortable. Most sites have cable TV. We camped at Klint Safford Memorial RV Park (The Iron River RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Legendary Waters Resort & Casino Campground, Red Cliff, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Cramped campground overlooking Lake Superior. Our site has two 50 amp hookups and a 20 amp but no 30 amp which is what we requested. Next door there are two 30 amp plugs, so we hooked up there. Water hookup is on the wrong side. Many sites are far from level. No sewer or WiFi. The relatively new Indian casino is three minute walk away, which is where the restrooms are located. Nice view of the lake from most sites. But, really, this is a very uninspired place with plenty of other campgrounds in the area. Stay here only if you can't get in elsewhere. This campground is about three miles from Bayfield, which is where it really should be listed. We camped at Legendary Waters Resort & Casino Campground in a Motorhome.

Northland Camping & RV Park, Superior, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Not the fanciest place but we spent two enjoyable nights. The office, a long-ago converted milk barn, is messy - "antiques and junk," the owner told me. She has owned the park for 29 years. Opened it with her father who died six years ago. It's cash only, no credit cards. Some sites are very crowded, others not so bad. Mine was perfectly level. WiFi barely works and Verizon data varies from one to two bars. Overall, this is a good place close to the Superior/Duluth area. We camped at Northland Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Buffalo River State Park, Glyndon, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful mostly-shady park with very spacious sites. Big swimming hole/pool with lifeguard is a two-minute walk away. Plus beautiful nature trails. Far from highway so no traffic noise, although you can hear distant trains. Two private shower stalls in restrooms. Camp host is very friendly and helpful. About a 20-minute drive into Fargo. This park is a gem. Only negatives: no water or sewer hookups, but there is a dump station. We camped at Buffalo River State Park in a Motorhome.

General Sibley Island Park & Campground, Bismarck, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground with lot of shade and acres of mowed grass. This is a wonderful place for self-contained RVs, and only about three miles from town. 50 and 30 amp hookups at 114 sites that will accommodate even the longest RVs. Most site pads are paved, some gravel. Negatives are too few restrooms, and water is available only at the two dump stations. But, really, this is a wonderful park for an overnight stay or a few days, right along the Missouri River. It fills up on summer weekends, but is quiet mid-week. There's a boat ramp and disc golf course. We camped at General Sibley Island Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
