Burnidge Forest Preserve, Paul Wolff Campground, Elgin, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We just bought our first travel trailer and we decided to try it out very close to home. Many people recommended this place. The staff were very friendly and the campgrounds were very clean and scenic. There is electric and running water but no dumping. You have to leave your site to go to the dumping station. The dump station is not on level ground so hard to get completely empty unless you jack up front end of trailer. The biggest complaint I had was that the only toilets available were pit toilets and they were pure nasty! There are no flushable toilets or showers at this campground. There was plenty of room for the kids to play, it was quiet, and the trails were nicely mowed. Most of the campers kept to themselves. Would go here again for a night, but not more than that. We camped at Burnidge Forest Preserve, Paul Wolff Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort, Marengo, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We were skeptical due to other bad reviews, but glad we went anyway. Staff were EXCELLENT! Property was beautiful. Bathrooms were amazingly clean and I am terrified of public restrooms. Lake was a typical lake - not a fan of swimming with fish, but the kids loved it and the diving platform was fun. Wifi and Cable were up and running, but we did not hook up to them. We did have a problem with our campsite on day two but the owner handled PERFECT and was very empathetic to our situation. We were so happy with stay we booked next weekend as well!!! We camped at Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much to do in Marengo. We brought floatation devices such as noodles and rafts and that was very helpful for little ones. Bring a coax cable for TV hook up.
