Twin Oaks RV Park & Campground, Elko, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Used this campground as a base to visit Andersonville National Historic Site which is only 30 minutes away. There were quite a few over-nighters either going north or south to or from Florida. It's very close to I-75 which is good and bad. It's easy on and easy off but you hear the interstate all night which kept my rating lower. The sites were well spaced very level. The front of the park seems to be for transients and devoid of trees. The rear appears to be permanent or extended stay and is very shaded. The roads are very easy to navigate. We camped at Twin Oaks RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here four nights while visiting Atlanta. There is only one way in and out of this very large park and you always end up on Route 78 which isn't so bad as it will get you to 285 or directly into the city. Our site was very spacious with a separate wooden patio with a picnic table and a propane BBQ. We arrived on a Saturday and the campground was very full but by Wednesday it had emptied out almost completely empty. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Asheville East KOA, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

This was our third time staying at this campground and it continues to get better. We stayed in one of the deluxe patio sites which I believe are a new addition. These are very nice sites with a good gravel base. The patio is large with a round table and chairs as well as a picnic table, a BBQ and a fire pit. This is a very convenient base for exploring the Asheville/Blue Ridge Parkway area. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We used this as an overnight stop and it happened to be the first day of "Mayberry Days." I'm sure you would have to have a reservation way in advance if you wanted to be here for the event. This campground is built on many levels but the sites are level if somewhat close. The wi-fi is a bit iffy but other connections are fine. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Motorhome.

West Virginia State Fairgrounds, Fairlea, West Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

I'm sure if you were staying here during the fair it would very different. We were using it as a base to visit the Greenbrier which is only 20 minutes away. We were one of only four units in the south RV lot and basically picked our own site. After you set up you use the tunnel to cross under the highway and pay and the fairground administrative building. We picked a site far from the highway to avoid the traffic noise but it gets very quiet at night except for the ambulances which are rushing to hospital nearby. One tip - if you're going to use the south lot, make the turn from the left lane as it can be quite tight, especially if a rig is on a site close to the road. We camped at West Virginia State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

American Heritage RV Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $86.00
Overall Rating:

Overall this is a very good park for visiting the Williamsburg area. There are two types of sites - very wooded and very bare. If you want shaded go for a site below #103. There is only one bathhouse and therefore you could have a long walk depending on your site. I would have rated this park higher except some of the turns are tight although when we checked in the clerk gave us a hint how to avoid some of the tight turns. Another problem are the trees near site #69 which will hit both the side of your rig plus everything on the roof. Both the wi-fi and cable are very good and it's easy to reach all the attractions in the area. The sites have concrete pads and very nice patios with tables. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park, College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $81.00
Overall Rating:

Can't imagine a better place to stay if you're visiting the D.C. area. The fact that a bus leaves the campground every half hour and takes you to the metro station means you can be in the center of Washington in about 45 minutes. The sites are level and well maintained. Wi-fi is very good and the staff are extremely friendly and most informative about seeing the sights in the area. No matter what you're camping in, this place has a site for you. When you check in they request you add a pre-payment of $50 toward charges in their store and cafe. This is very handy since both are very good. One very nice touch is that they have daily papers available in the store each morning. We camped at Cherry Hill Park in a Motorhome.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

Turns are very tight. If you're a MH towing, disconnect in their very large parking lot. Sites are all on a hill but so is the entire state. The utility side of the site has very large rail ties which can make it difficult to open basement doors for hook up. The cable connection ended in a male plug which required a male-to-male connector. Luckily, an employee was passing by and got one from another site. Overall the individual sites are lacking maintenance. Wi-if was very slow and required repeated sign on. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Motorhome.

Pine Cove Beach Resort, Charleroi, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is a resort if you want to share a water park with several hundred people. We were staying in place for the Labor Day weekend and since it rained two out of three days it was very quiet there. All the sites are back in but very well spaced and well maintained. The park is very close to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and therefore handy to get around. Wi-if was excellent. We camped at Pine Cove Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Philadelphia South KOA (formerly Timberlane Campground), Clarksboro, New Jersey

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

This was a two night stop for us to see a ballgame in Philadelphia. Park is very convenient to drive into the city or you can also get there by train. Our site was very close but it looks like the new owners are adding some very nice sites with lots of room and well planned. Some of the turns are tight. Wi-fi is available at your site for a cost or free in the office/game room. If they upgrade the old sites after they finish with the new, this will be an outstanding campground. They staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We camped at Philadelphia South KOA (formerly Timberlane Campground) in a Motorhome.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA, Plattekill, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $136.00
Overall Rating:

Although a distance from NYC, it's easy to get into the city either by car or on the train - we did both. The week we were there, the bridge over the thruway was under repair requiring an inconvenient detour. We selected out site for satellite reception. It was located at the end of a row and was very private and spacious. The downside was extremely low water pressure. This is, in my opinion, one of the better KOA properties in the system. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Only 40 minutes away, over the Hudson, is the Culinary Institute of America which is well worth a visit but you have to make reservations long in advance.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Hagerstown, Williamsport, Maryland

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $91.00
Overall Rating:

Used it as an overnight stay because the last time in this area we stayed at another campground - a big mistake. The entrance into this park is unnecessarily tight taking you around trees and rocks. We showed up at 2:00 and were told rather abruptly that check in wasn't until 3:00 but they would check to see if our site was ready. Once they confirmed that it was, we were escorted to our site which was in an area of at least 80% empty sites. The young man that escorted us directed me into the site and told me when to stop. He was ready to depart when I had to ask him how I was supposed to get out of our motorhome. When he asked what I was talking about, I pointed out the very large bush that was completely blocking our door. The site was level and hookups were easy. You are supposed to wear hospital-style wristbands in order to walk around the campground - we didn't and weren't prevented from buying ice cream at the store which had only a few choices since their freezers were out of order. After searching forever for a dumpster, I learned that they pickup trash at your website, although they didn't tell me that at check-in or in the literature. WI-FI was slow even with so few sites in the area occupied. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Hagerstown in a Motorhome.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stop while traveling north. Only a half mile from the intersection of 81 and 77. The park is well laid out and all sites appear pull though. Our site was close to the front of the park but no traffic noise. The site was grass/dirt but had a very good concrete pad for your coach providing a solid level base. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

Spent four days here but didn't get to use all their facilities. This park is truly a resort with two pools, a picnic area and other amenities. Our site was a pull-in which left us overlooking a small lake. The site was paved with pavers a totally level. Each site included a table with umbrella and four chairs. The site was double wide and long enough for any MH with tow. There are "bush" dividers between the sites which improves the privacy afforded each site. The grounds and maintained to perfection. When the office is closed there is a gate controlling access - however unlike other parks with this feature you receive a remote control which avoids having to remember and overreach to punch a code - nice touch. Another nice touch is that trash is collected from your site three times a day. This park calls itself a resort and deserves the title! We camped at Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Jones RV Park, Norcross, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

My rating is based on an overnight stay. Easy on/off on I-85. We arrived on a Sunday when they are closed. We were told to take any open spot on the right. We took site 101 which was level and quite long. We had no one on either side but the sites are close together. The office doesn't open until 9:00 a.m. So we placed our payment in an envelope and deposited in a slot by the office. The power was fine but water pressure a little low. Most of this park appears to be full timers and around 6:30 a.m. The departing traffic in the park was heavy. Overall, recommended for a quick overnight stay northeast of Atlanta! We camped at Jones RV Park in a Motorhome.
