Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 4th stay and we would stay again. The office knows how to place people and we noticed they avoided placing someone next to another person when there were spots available unlike other parks that fill spaces all in a row. The laundry room was very clean with an adequate number of washers and dryers. We were even given treats for our cat when we checked in. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cajun RV Park, Biloxi, Mississippi

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The spots are very tight with hardly any room to park your truck. We had to ask the next door neighbor to move his truck so that we could park the 5th wheel. He moved it in front of his trailer and then we could not pull out because the road was so narrow with over hanging tree limbs. Our site was in the front and there was a lot of street noise which was more bothersome than the train. The office is in the back of the park and there were back-in sites with grass in that area rather than dirt and gravel for the pull-thru site. We would not return after learning that there is a new RV park nearby. We camped at Cajun RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort (55+ park), Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 9 days but have stayed the winter several times and also owned a Village Home in the park. This review is for a short term visitor rather than a seasonal visitor. The resort is geared for the long term visitor rather than for someone visiting for a short time. The negatives are that there is no Wi-Fi and no picnic tables. The internet service is by subscription and you need to contact Dish and also own a modem. There are activities and entertainment, etc. in the winter months but unless you purchase your tickets well in advance they are sold out before you arrive. We did have Thanksgiving dinner there but only by reading the newsletter and seeing that the cut off date was the day before we were to arrive and then calling the resort with a credit card were we able to get tickets. The water is so bad tasting we needed to purchase water to drink. The resort is very nice and we will continue to return if in the area. We camped at Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee, Chokoloskee Island, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

Each site appears different in size, parking surface and landscaping. Our site was totally paved for parking both 5th wheel and truck, on a corner, across the street from the water, and had lawn. The roads are very narrow and the turns very tight and we were just able to navigate our 34 foot 5th wheel without hitting trees or fences. A $20 cash deposit is required for the gate card. We used our satellite but we were offered a cable box. The resort entrance is up the highway from the registration office which has no place to park when you register. We made the mistake of pulling in next to the office and then had to back up onto the highway. No one escorted us to our site and the map was not easy to follow. We camped at Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee in a Fifth Wheel.

Bluewater Key RV Resort, Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $115.00
Overall Rating:

Each site is a little different and appeared to be different in size. Our water front site was concrete all the way across where some the RVs were parked on rocks or bricks. The docks all appear to be different. Each site has a wooden picnic table plus different outdoor furniture depending on what the owner had done. Our site had a round table for 4 plus a rectangular table for that could seat 6, 6 chairs, a sink, a tiki hut and outdoor cupboards all on a raised wooden deck. Some of the sites are only for a Motor Home and others like we had have hookups on both sides to accommodate either 5th wheels/ trailers which back in or Motor Homes which are driven in facing the water. It was windy during our entire 4 day stay and apparently this occurs frequently because the huts have wind screens. We found that when there was another 5th wheel next to us, on the driver's side, the spacing between us was acceptable but when a Motor Home was placed in that spot they were very close with slides out. This is a great location for visiting Key West and the nicest park we saw in the entire Keys. The one negative we found was that there was no air conditioning in the laundry room. We camped at Bluewater Key RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground, Fort Pierce, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 2 nights and would consider a return visit to the park it is so nice but we found very little in the area to bring us back again. The park managers were friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. We had no trouble with the width of our site which included a concrete pad as wide as our 5th wheel and truck parked side by side and there is nice lawn on each side of the pad plus we had a large area of lawn behind us. The free Wi-Fi worked well but was a little slow at times even early in the day and with a park that isn't full. We saw sites that apparently have stored RVs on them and the man next to us says he lives near but stores his 5th wheel here because the rates are so reasonable. These sites did not have items except steps stored with the RV. The entire park is very clean and well kept. There is a small lake in the center of the park with RV sites around it. We camped at Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Manatee Center was a disappointment. There is an 18 minute film but little else and the water in the viewing area is dark and cloudy.

Orlando / Kissimmee KOA, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We had a very long pull-thru site. The sites are not very wide and are close together but because of the length and with them alternating pull in direction there is nothing next to you on either side. The park is very clean and has little road noise even with its location across from Sam's club and near a busy highway. The edges of the patios next to the pad were cracked in all the sites we saw but still level and usable. The turn into the park comes quick and is narrow and sharp and the roads in the park are OK. The sites are not angled and turning into them, even with an escort, required us to drive on the lawn with our 34 foot 5th wheel. Our stay would have been perfect if it were not for loud noise coming from the cabin near us at 4:30 am on our last night. We camped at Orlando / Kissimmee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Red Gate Campground & RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull-through full hookup site out in the open with a small palm tree and white crushed rock pad. The campground was very busy while we were there and it is advisable to make a reservation if you want any hookups. The office is located in the back and not readily visible when arriving to check in, and RVs are restricted from driving up to it. The laundry has 2 washers and 2 dryers and one of each does not have a coin slot and is on the "honor system" to put $2 for each cycle used in an envelope and leave at the office. The negatives were on our site. The 50 amp hookup plug did not have a cover and there is no breaker at the site to turn off when hooking and unhooking. The sewer was very slow and over-flows when dumping. This had also happened prior to our arrival because there was toilet paper around the sewer hookup. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, Emporia, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The trains are very frequent and run 24 hours a day sounding like they are right in the campground. We were given an open spot which worked with our satellite dish. It was a side by side site but no one was next to us during our stay and the RV on the other side was a long ways away. The site was long and gravel but very rutted requiring us to go up on boards to level even with our hydraulic leveling system. We were there during the week and later in October so the park was very quiet but they were preparing for Halloween weekend activities as we were leaving. We arrived after the 1 PM check-in time and no one was in the office but when I called the park someone came right away. The park worked for our needs but it is almost an hour's drive to Petersburg and there little around. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

The speed humps placed on the main road at every row are horrible especially for a 5th wheel where they put a real jar to the back of your neck even coming to a complete stop before going over them. The park is nice and the staff are very friendly. We were assigned a nice pull-thru paved site at the end of the row so we only had an RV on one side and there was a nice space between us. For us the site P1 was not easy for a 34 foot 5th wheel to pull into because there were guide wires on a pole limiting the pull in radius. Placing the 5th wheel on the concrete pad so that we could reach hook ups required the truck to head down an incline to hook and unhook. Others must have had issues with this site because the concrete had multiple deep grooves in it where RVs or hitches had dug into it. Most of the sites did not appear to have as steep of an incline as ours did. We would return but only if assigned a level site with easy access. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberland Acres RV Park, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground with very long level sites. The interior roads are rough. We were in the open meadow area which allowed us to use our Dish satellite. Sites are well spaced. The laundry room has lots of washers and dryers and was very clean with nice folding table, baskets and racks. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We had a nice long gravel back-in site with plenty of room between us and the RVs on each side but in the back we were close to the other RV. The site was not level and we had to drive up on boards even with our hydraulic leveling system. We were there on Columbus weekend and the campground was full but fairly quiet. The laundry only had 2 washers and 2 dryers which were not very hot. The road entering the campground is paved and in good condition but the exit road is very rough with speed bumps. It is a long way from the Interstate and some of the roads have low bridges. When we called inquiring about height restrictions we were given very good directions to the campground. We camped at Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Unadilla / I-88 / Oneonta KOA, Franklin, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm that left inches of rain on the road and several inches on our site. We had only been able to reserve a 30 amp site online but when we arrived and the owner found out we had 50 amp he placed us in a site serviced by 50 amps. The adjoining site was right next to us with the hookups between us and barely enough room to walk between the RVs with sides out. There is a trout stream in the campground so there are no sewer hookups at any of the sites per law. The owner said they plan on putting some in "on the hill" away from the stream in the future. The roads from the Interstate are narrow and winding and it is about 7 miles to the campground with little in the area. We camped at Unadilla / I-88 / Oneonta KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lone Pine Campsites, Colchester, Vermont

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We had a premium back-in site which was so long it would accommodate any size RV and vehicle and was very easy to back into. The grass was well worn where there had been objects placed for extended periods of time. There are nice large trees that are well placed for the sites. There is plenty of space between RVs on the sides but fairly close in the back where there were shared hookups for the water. We were there for 2 nights on a very busy weekend with lots of families but over all it was fairly quiet. We camped at Lone Pine Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Sugar Ridge RV Village & Campground, Danville, Vermont

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We were here the end of the season and the park was very quiet for our entire 3 night stay. We had a level, full hookup, pull-thru site which was very long with adequate space between us and the RV next to us. The section we were in appeared to be mainly for "over-night" visits and was out in the open compared to the majority of the park which was under the trees with back-in sites. We camped at Sugar Ridge RV Village & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
