Folsom Lake SRA - Beals Point Campground, Folsom, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice CA state campground. Very good distance between sites. Full hookups or dry camping. We did full hookups. Our site #62 was 100% level so did not need to do anything. Fire pit, picnic table in each site. Well maintained power. Better sewer connection than many parks. Could actually put line in and not need a rock to keep it in place. We camped at Folsom Lake SRA - Beals Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Everything you would need is close. Gas, grocery, food, repairs, hardware store, etc. Great place to ride a bike along the dam plus several off road trails for those who want that. Folsum Lake has fishing too. Saw deer, wild turkeys, and lots of squirels in the campground. Campground a little noisey from the roadway outside, but certainly not bad. Really feels remote yet its not.

Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park, Clio, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Great place. Big and well maintained. No wood fires though. All paved drives with lots of gravel in space areas. Which makes this park nicer that some we have visited also with gravel. WiFi is weak but cell service pretty good so use your hotspot. We camped at Clio's Rivers Edge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Great stop over. Twice on this trip. Lots of oranges for the picking. Just help yourself for the most part. Paved drive to your site. Has a nice pool. Orange trees give a nice break between spaces. Used laundry this time. Clean and not too expensive. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Special .. Round of golf for 2 each day of stay. Gated entry, no guard, very nice but for overnight a bit expensive. Have pull thru's. One dog run on the far side of the park. Nice grass right at your door. Pool. You can get a face in toward the lake in the center. Site was not too level but OK. There are hedges between each space.

Check out is noon which is unusual and nice. We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Furnace Creek (NPS Campground), Death Valley National Park, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We dry camped in a 40 Ft coach. There are full hook ups but hard to get as this is NPS reservation system. Parking was paved (different from our last visit). Host and Park Service patrol often. Lots of room between spaces. For $5 you can go to the FC Ranch and shower or use the pool. That's for the entire family for the entire day.

Had a picnic table and campfire ring. Were there to enjoy the 49 Encampment expericence which was great. We camped at Furnace Creek (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Visit Furnace Creek Inn & Resort. Pretty neat. Has 4-star fine dining. Rooms start at $360 day. Furnace Creek Ranch fun, has Borax Museum, golf & store. Also dining hall and bar. Over priced. Eat at the FC Inn. Exploring DV is the really fun thing. Went to Badwater (282 Ft below sea level) in just over an hour, Devils Point (5,560 ft above sea level).Scotty's Castle closed for next 4 years due to heavy flooding last year. Cost $40M to repair, looking for donations to help.

Pismo Coast Village RV Resort, Pismo Beach, California

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Professionally run, great location with strong wifi and cell services. Security around the clock with gated access yet not at all in a security concern area. Just prudent oversight to both remind people of the rules, make sure the public passes through the resort on their way to the beach and doesn't use the the pool or showers without being a guest at the resort. On site RV repairs, propane refill, store, and you can have a fire! Walk to the beach or into Pismo Beach and all it's fun. We have been here many times at all times of the year and will return many times more. We camped at Pismo Coast Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Drive on the beach in Oceano, just a mile or so down the beach. Don't miss the Monarch Butterflies who live next door either.

Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground, Buellton, California

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

New Years Day rate, $85. was way over the top. But they were 100% full and loaded with kids and families, so guess they did it because they could. The next day, 1-2-16 was $58 and 1-3 was $56, still very expensive.

Its a one only park in the area with probably lots going on in the summer with stuff for the kids. The density is heavy and close. The new section is very close to 101 and extremely noisy so get something back in the 300 if your over in that area. TV cable bad signal, and ask for a satellite site as there are many trees. We were given one that was supposed to work but had to go back and move. Staff friendly and helpful. They rent BBQ's and fireplaces which we have not seen any other place out west. Small patio, some grass, pad was dirt but there are concrete pads in some locations. We camped at Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Hearst San Simeon State Park, Cambria, California

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Dry camping !! Great location and well run by California Park System. We had a 35 foot space for a 40 ft motorhome and it worked very well. Can have a fire. Park people keep driving through checking both security and generator running. Must be off 8 PM to 10 AM and they come through and let you know if you are late or early. Also has campground hosts and they sell wood. $10 for a wheel barrel full. No showers due to water shortage, but do have bathrooms. Can hear waves in distance. Great views from 1-35, others are down in the lower part. Also has a large rural camping area; Washburn, I think is the name.

Have stayed there before and will do it again for sure. Reserve on line. We camped at Hearst San Simeon State Park in a Motorhome.

Cambria is just 2 miles away. Sows Ear good eats for dinner. Best is the Sea Chest on Moonstone Beach Drive. Opens at 5:30 but go early (least an hour) and get in line. Sit at the bar. Best place as you are right there in the kitchen with the chefs. Ocean just a 1/2 mile. Seals up the coast about 5 miles, well worth looking at. Also Hurst Castle 3 miles away. Go down to Cayucos, a really cool little town 13 miles south.

Marin Park, Greenbrae, California

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $88.00
Overall Rating:

Much has been said, mostly true. We have been coming here for 10 + years. Started at f$40 a night. Now close to $100. As a park, not worth it, as a location, it is as close to San Fran as you can get. Park is all gravel, a bit tight. They use to give us two spots, with 4 slides. This time, they did not. Said they gave us a wider space so did not need to meet the fire code. We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

Nevada County Fairgrounds RV Park, Grass Valley, California

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice setting. Trees, small lake and very close to Grass Valley. Has full hook ups but we on occasion dry camp. There's lots of great places to do that. Many tall pine trees so if dish is important let them know. They know the hook up sites that work.

If you want a picnic table, they rent at $10. We camped at Nevada County Fairgrounds RV Park in a Motorhome.

Silver Summit RV Park and Campground, Silverton, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We were two spaces west of office. Owners next door. It was just a week before they close for the season so park was almost totally empty. They are very nice, friendly and helpful. My wife called from Ouray as both it was raining and the road was closed during the day, opening at 5 PM. We wanted to know if they thought travel over the 550 was OK and was there snow at the top. Owner said road construction tight, but passable with our 40 footer towing. We would arrive after close and they were going to be out for the evening. Owner gave wife the Wi-Fi code, which space to park. We thought that was above what other parks have done.

He did come over and shut off our water at 5 AM, again at 10 AM, which the second time I saw him, opened the window to talk. He gave me a bit of a reprimand for a dripping hose connection. Says water is expensive in Silverton, one cent per gallon (maybe it is). I cost them about $3 for the 12 hours of drip. I apologized and the rest of our stay was great. We did arrive late and in a pretty good rain storm.

Wow what views there. The Durango/Silverton steam train is right behind the park so you see and here it every day. Park is walking distance to train station, and downtown Silverton. They have no fire rings but it's OK if you have your own.

Lots and lots of grass, a bit frosty in the morning which we were told is standard all summer. We will stay there again, but for more than the three nights as this time. We camped at Silver Summit RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Model T Casino & RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Small older park with small sites. Driveway is very very wide so sticking out in it is OK. Everyone does it. We are 40 feet plus toad. Park needs to trim back some trees with big branches hanging out over drive, making it next to impossible to pass. I had to cut through an open space to get out. Others had done same with little care and drove across the grass, which I think was rude to do. Park is part of a small casino so gaming and food is steps away from your door. Well lighted at night so feels safe. Park is right in town with easy access. A Ridleys grocery store across the street. Also a couple restaurants as well. Good grass for our 4-legged family. It's October so you can leave when ready. No formal check out time. Park office closed so check in is in the casino/Quality Inn hotel. Signs mark clearly where to go to register. We camped at Model T Casino & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Spaces are narrow and tight, but long. Can't put awning out full if neighbor has slides. Angle of space is good as it keeps you from being directly aligned with your next door neighbor.
