Flat Creek Farms RV Resort, Robinson, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for one night. Called in advance and was given the last spot. He told me space #29, however when I got there somebody was in 29 and was staying a couple of days. I tried to call the owner of the park and he did not answer his phone. I called a few times and he still did not answer. I finally found another spot that somebody else was reserving. It's a nice park with clean bathrooms. You have to go through a residential neighborhood that was hard to get through in a 45' RV. The spaces are back to back and very close on the drivers side. Plenty of room on the passengers side. It was hard to get out of my spot because of how close I was to the RV next door the site was un-level had to use boards on one side of the RV. We camped at Flat Creek Farms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Downstream RV Park, Quapaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

How can anybody not give this park 10 stars. It's clean, FREE, and has water and electric. Did I mention it's FREE? They also have two pools and two hot tubs that you can use. Just show your receipt at the desk of the hotel and they will give you a pass. The buffet is small but the food is very good. They have a deal at the buffet. Dinner is about $17 but, for $25, you can eat all day. The RV park is just a parking lot, with running water and 50 amp electric service. Do I have to remind you that it's FREE?! We camped at Downstream RV Park in a Motorhome.

Beagle Bay RV Haven and Campground, Sarcoxie, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The bathroom is very old and needs to be upgraded. The bathroom and shower was tidy but it looked dirty. They need to pressure wash the bathrooms and paint. The park is nice, plenty of trees. bench swing at each site. We are 65' and did not have to disconnect. The WIFI was very good. The spots are confusing, you have 1 electrical outlet for each 2 lanes of parking. I didn't realize the other spot is for your towed. We camped at Beagle Bay RV Haven and Campground in a Motorhome.

RV Park Strafford, Strafford, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a couple of days. This is really an annual type park. Some of the RV's have not moved for a long time. The bad news is the spaces are extremely close together. The good news is that the park is not crowded and you will probably have no one next to you. It's not a bad park or location. The people are friendly and we felt safe. We are 65' and I had no problem fitting without disconnecting. We camped at RV Park Strafford in a Motorhome.

Make sure you go to Bass Pro shop. It's the granddaddy of the store chain and they have at least 3 free museums and 2 that you have to pay. The paid ones will take about 5 hours to view. Be careful at camping world across I-44, We drove in and almost couldn't get out. Very tight

Illinois State Fair Campgrounds, Springfield, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very convenient to all the historic sites. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are old. It's basically a parking lot. You have an area on asphalt and half of them have sewer. On top of the hill is the grass sites, with no sewer. The asphalt sites, you are on top of your neighbors. It's an equestrian park so there is a lot of horse trailers. All back-in spots but long enough for any size rig. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Best wifi I ever had in a park, close to home wifi. Picking up after your dog is not encouraged or enforced. Pull thru sites are long 90'. full hookups in back in sites and water and 50/30/15 in pull thrus. Bathroom is clean but dated. Nice tv room. washer and dryer is $1.50 each. I'm staying in Mi Casa on the Route (66) in Carthage, Mo. It is definitely, big rig friendly. The spaces are all pull thru and about 100' long. It's a new park and the owners are taking great pride in the park. They are very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are spotless. We camped at Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park in a Motorhome.

Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The RV sites are on a big parking lot right on Jamaica Bay. It can accommodate any size rig. If you're into fishing this is the place for you. With a big rig you need to come in when it's dark because of the traffic in N.Y. When you get here there is no traffic. I left my RV there for 2 weeks while I was out of the country and didn't have any problems. There is an RC airpark and an Archery range. 2 indoor ice skating rinks, games for the kids. convenient to everywhere with public transit. If you need practice driving come here, this is where they teach the bus drivers to drive. They have a dump station and a fresh water station. Plenty of tent sites and 9 RV sites. great camp store. We camped at Floyd Bennett Field in a Motorhome.

Black Bear Campground, Florida, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed there for 4 days on our way to NYC. We stayed on the bottom hill and based on other reviews that was the better loop. The staff was super friendly. The site was mostly level except at the ends and since we are about 65' and in a 60' spot it wasn't the best. We have a motorcycle and you can't have motorcycles on the upper hill, where the spaces are 90'. They have a heated swimming pool which was still a little bit cold for us. There is not much to do in the park. The surrounding areas are very nice. Just a note, when you're going through town you might get a warning on your GPS for overweight vehicles. ignore it, I checked with the campground and that's what they said. There is no sign that warns about it. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Hide-A-Way Lakes, Yorkville, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The park was a lot cleaner as the week progressed. The park has a very bad reputation which I believe is not warranted. There are a lot of very very old rv's here and some of them need to be demolished. The roads are full of pot holes which make you slow down. I don't think it would be any worse with speed bumps. The primitive areas are scenic except there were few bathrooms and no showers. The section we were in, A2, was very nice, flat long and the utilities worked great. Security is excellent. They man the gate all night. The full time residents are near the front and everyone else is in the back. Everyone we came in contact with was nice and helpful. The camp store was well stocked with parts and some food. The store was not overpriced. We camped at Hide-A-Way Lakes in a Motorhome.

Yorkville is less than 2 miles away. Try foxy's Ice cream. Rowdy's bar I was told has the best burgers in the area. Rosati's Pizza, try the stuffed pizza. it takes 45 minutes to make but it was worth the wait. Joyce Lee Chinese buffet was very good. At the office they will deliver 15 pieces of wood to your site for $5.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

The park is mainly for kids and families. The problem is, is that none of the amenities for them were open. Everything opens on Memorial Day. I was given a spot on the perimeter of the park and had to disconnect my trailer because the spot is not long enough. They took my trailer to an area for safe keeping. When we went to the trailer we noticed spots that would have been long enough without disconnecting and most of that section was empty. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.

The Fairgrounds Nashville, Nashville, Tennessee

Overall Rating:

We did not stay here. We went there and when we went up the hill to the spaces we decided it wasn't for us. I think I saw another area for parking that might have been marginally better. The campgrounds in the area charge &50-$70, feel safer and there is a shuttle bus for $10 R/T to downtown. I feel that is a better alternative. We camped at The Fairgrounds Nashville in a Motorhome.

River Ranch RV Resort, Lake Wales, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

I rated this campground a 9, I would have rated it a 10 if the camp store wasn't so expensive. We bought a quart of milk at $5.00 and 2 pastries at $4.50 each. The biggest problem was that the pastries were old and we couldn't even eat them.

Now for the park.

We were on the water in space 448. The reason they gave us that spot is because they said it had shade. It did not. 449 had the shade. The grounds are immaculate. All RV spots are individually owned, so each spot can and will have different amenities. The RVs share the property with Westgate timeshares. They can't use the RV amenities and we can't use theirs. Everything that Westgate offers has a cost such as the rodeo, the entertainment areas; miniature golf and so forth. They have a petting zoo which is free. The workers at the petting zoo really take pride in the animals. When I talked to the 2 guys that were working it you could tell that they really wanted to be there. The pony ride was $5.00 per child and it was a really long ride. 3 of my kids did archery and that was $8.00. The rodeo was $17 per adult and $9 per child. We enjoyed ourselves very much. There had to be 500 people there. The performers were very talented. They had barrel races, bull riding, and horse skills. The kids participated in the calf scramble, which was hysterical.

The sites on the water have a pier at each spot. we had a porch swing. There is a separation from each space by foliage. You don't feel like you're on top of each other.

The RV spots that were not on the water seemed like you were in a forest. The trees were so old and there was Spanish moss hanging from them.

The 2 pools and hot tubs that are available to us seemed to be adequate, however the park wasn't very crowded.

The bathrooms and 3 laundry rooms were very clean.

The closest town is almost an hour away, so make sure you have everything you need before getting there.

Most of the people there are owners and everyone was friendly. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Okeechobee KOA, Okeechobee, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We got there late about 10 P.M. They checked us in and we had to find our site by ourselves. The campground is very big and the roads are confusing at night especially with a 45' RV. Only one person appeared to be working, and he was checking in multiple people at that time due to an accident which closed the road en route to the campground.

During the daytime they had plenty of people. they should have had more people checking in the campers.

The pool area was nice and the entertainment was enjoyable. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Motorhome.

Peace River Campground, Arcadia, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We're new to camping but was very impressed with the site. The site is huge but it is built for 3 RV's or tents. It was perfect for us because our kids were there in tents and they took the other spots. If it was strangers it might have been a problem.

There is a mixture of long term tenants, short term and primitive camping. The buildings and grounds are shabby chic. ATV and off road vehicle use is actually encouraged. We had a very good time even though it rained the whole weekend. We camped at Peace River Campground in a Motorhome.
