Hi-Desert RV Resort must have been a very nice park at one time. Currently, everything is run-down. Cow and horse dung is in the park. The pet walk has very little grass and is dusty with animal waste left lying around. The goldfish pond is stagnant and algae filled, but a few fish are still alive. The roses are dying; the park needs irrigation. The store has been shut down. Five washers and four dryers in the laundry room are inoperative. On the positive side: the park workers we have met are friendly and helpful. The park is quiet and well-lighted, but it suffers from neglect.

My husband and I stayed here from Oct. 2006 until Feb. 2007. It is clean and well-cared for with level pea gravel sites, each with a concrete patio and a table. Streets are blacktop. The view of the peak is lovely, as are the various types of cacti growing in landscaped areas. Finches and hummingbirds have been here all winter. The "cons" might be a lack of religious services in the park and the absence of personal interest in the residents on the part of management. (Management showed no interest when two ambulances came to a site late at night. They did not know--or seem to care--what had happened to the resident.) Also, while there are many activities scheduled, participation lags. Crafts activities are not planned in advance, but posted on a board a day or two before the activity.

We actually spent from November 2005 through March 2006 in this park. Everything is concrete--the streets, the pads, and the patios. The dog walk is on a short sandy path with some sandburrs, but it is kept clean. Landscaping is lovely. The entrance features a large fountain with dolphin and sailboat statuary. The recreation building is large enough for dances, dinners, and crafts. The library is well-kept. It is a short bicycle ride to a wonderful city park. I feel that this is the best RV park in Rockport!
