Veranda Inn and RV Park, Nocona, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Good level concrete pads with good hookups. Nothing fancy but a nice place to stop for the night. Be careful coming in at the front and look for the RV entrance sign. Even then the driveway is very uneven on the way to the back where the park is located. If driving on 82 after dark be on the lookout for deer. We saw two and were grateful they were walking along the side and weren't startled by the traffic. They were big ones. We camped at Veranda Inn and RV Park in a Motorhome.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was way more than what we needed for a night but we had some mechanical issues that needed to be addressed by the Freightliner shop across the highway so needed a place to stop. We have stayed in this area before and I made a mistake in choosing this park thinking it was where we stayed previously. It wasn't. It is a large resort and has much to offer if you are staying in the area. They were cordial but not overly friendly or helpful when it came to our situation. We camped at American RV Resort in a Motorhome.

They offer a continental breakfast which starts at 8. Unfortunately we couldn't partake since we had to be at Freightliner at 7.

Blaze-in-Saddle, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, this is a no frills park but it was just what we needed. It's tiresome to pay higher prices for amenities you don't use. For an overnight stay you want a level spot, good hookups, safety, and quiet if possible. This little place more than filled the bill! It was quiet and the staff was super nice and are proud Veterans who have served our country. I'm very happy to give them our support. We arrived after dark, which is early now, and the gentleman rode his bike to direct us to our site instead of driving his car with lights. He realized his mistake though because we couldn't see the site very well. They do have little lights at each site but it was difficult to see to park. The sites are gravel and I can see where it might be a problem if there has been a lot of rain but we didn't have any trouble, thankfully it was dry. We will definitely make this a go to place to stay anytime we head west. We camped at Blaze-in-Saddle in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Attention horse people! This park has places to pen your horses so they don't have to stay on the trailer! Not many parks have this so it's a good place to stop for the night if you are traveling with your horse.

Sky City RV Park, Acoma, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Nice spot to stop and fuel up and rest for the night. Sites are concrete, level (at least ours was), hook ups worked fine, and a casino to get a bite to eat. The shuttle will pick you up but we just walked over and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. Not necessarily a great place to walk pets as there are stickers and not any grass. Boy dogs shouldn't have a problem but it could be a challenge for the girls if they only "go" on grass. :-) Still a great place to stop and a great price for all you get. I love the desert look and the mountains all around. The sunset was spectacular. Some road noise but if you stay along an interstate it can't be avoided. Not as bad as some though. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Sky City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You have to call for the shuttle after picking your site to pay and get the box unlocked. Very fast though and the people were friendly. The process is a bit of an inconvenience but overall not bad if you are aware of it. Very good fuel prices at this casino too and when you fill up you get 50% off the buffet. At least we did and the food was pretty good, for a casino.

Tips for other Campers:

The road coming in is a bit rough. Lots of pot holes so be aware of that. Not directly in front of the Oasis Park but near the gas station where the road takes a beating from the truck and other traffic. Don't let this deter you though. It's just a caution to be watching for it.

Timberlane RV Park & Resort, Bradenton, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Quiet and well maintained. Sites are spacious on grass. Expensive I know but I wish they had concrete or even heavy gravel. Staff is wonderful and helps set up everything at site. Even supplied boards for our jacks. Great communication before our arrival so we knew exactly where we would be setting up. Satellite reception at our site but probably not at all sites since there are trees around the park. Close to everything and the best exit from an RV park with an easy u turn to head towards I75 which is less than a mile away. We will definitely stay here again when visiting family in Bradenton. We camped at Timberlane RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park), Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Another wonderful Florida State Park. Spacious lots, good hook ups and beautiful setting. Walked on trail to river and got a chuckle out of the warning about the Rhesus Monkeys. I told a ranger I would not be thrilled to meet up with one and definitely wouldn't feed one! Wish we could have made it over to the glass bottom boats but maybe next time. The road through the city could be a bit tricky in a large rig but it was fine since there wasn't much traffic. Just a few turns that were tight. The roads in the park were easy to navigate. It is a bit of a drive from I75 but well worth it. As usual when in a heavily wooded area satellite reception is not available but it's nice to leave the media world behind sometimes. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Village Creek State Park, Wynne, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park is fabulous. Peaceful with NO outside noises other than nature itself. Lots to do and if you have a horse you can trailer in, stable, and stay in your own rig and then go riding on the trails. Makes me want a horse! The restrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. I did notice there wasn't a heater and as others mentioned no ventilation. Lots of open spaces and we enjoyed watching the deer come out to graze. The lake was pretty with the trees changing color and I wondered about the "beach". Not good for laying on but it didn't matter at this time of year. Just a wonderful relaxing place to enjoy the sites and sounds of nature. No cell phone service and no satellite. Perhaps another more open site would give you some reception but not where we were. Very nice staff at the front desk. We look forward to returning. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before and when calling for a reservation asked for the PA rate. Told they didn't have any remaining. Okay so we'll stay in the middle section. Upon arrival told we had a river site. Didn't ask for that and there WERE spaces in the PA section as well as the middle section. We were staying one night and didn't want to pay extra for the "river" site but that's what we had. Really didn't like the attitude of the office personnel who made it seem like we didn't have a choice. Will think twice before staying here again. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Forrest County RV Park, Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for one night and as others have said the sites are a bit challenging when it comes to levelling. We managed though and the hook ups were fine except for the water at our site didn't work but we just hooked up to the one next to us. Not an issue since there wasn't anyone coming in. There were a few families camping and a couple of others so we felt comfortable. Quiet and the lake was pretty. It's a nice event center we used to come to for dog agility trials and never knew the lake or RV area was here. We will definitely return since the price is good and it serves our needs. Ruidoso Motorcoach Ranch (Class A Motorhomes Only), Alto, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Peaceful location with beautiful views all around. The owners and the manager are friendly, gracious people. Small park with only 29 sites and if available you get to choose your site. Full hookups that all work well. Nice walking/hiking trail through back of park but not level so be sure and wear appropriate shoes. It was a bit difficult in my flip flops! We couldn't make satellite contact at our site so didn't have that but they do offer cable. Although there aren't many channels but more will come I'm sure when they get more access to connectivity. It IS the mountains after all. We saw deer everyday and if you like hummingbirds this is the place. We saw and heard them all over and got buzzed quite frequently when we wore red or colorful shirts. Loved it!! Fire pit in the cool evening was nice and it will be hard to return to 100 degree temps. I do wish the fire pit could be covered to convert to a table for easier outdoor dining. With a location this lovely you want to be outside as much as possible. Look forward to returning. We camped at Ruidoso Motorcoach Ranch (Class A Motorhomes Only) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do here and according to my husband one of the best and prettiest golf courses at Rainmaker. Access is granted to the private Rainmaker club where you can use the fitness room, dining, and golf. Also, Ruidoso Downs is not far and we were given access to the Jockey club. Fun day at the races! Restaurants and shops abound and we will need to return to see more of them. Just didn't want to leave the Ranch very much since it was so relaxing.

Will Rogers Memorial Center RV Parking, Fort Worth, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

A Big FYI-the parking situation has changed dramatically from the last review. The lot on Harley is no longer available and for a MH needing 50 amp you MUST park in the more expensive lot behind the equestrian center. If you can use 30 amp there are spaces available next to the Swine building (remember this is a stock arena and has buildings labeled for specific stock) and the price is 30.00 for electric and water. The shower facilities used to be in the upper floor in the Swine bldg. and were fine. Since we didn't stay in this lot I don't know about them now. The 60.00 lot has full hook ups and is closer to the Watt arena where we needed to be for an agility show. You find a space and call the number given to you at the gate and a nice fellow comes out to turn on the electric. The spaces were VERY long as this lot is mostly for horse trailers which are huge and the spacing was quite nice. Hook ups worked fine but there was some confusion on the number on the power pedestal and the space number on the ground in the row we were on. They didn't really match. The lot is clean and fairly level with only minor tweaking needed for leveling. Water pressure good. Skyline at night is pretty and not much road noise at all. Make sure to go in the correct gate otherwise you make a big circle around the facility and one road is tree lined and the branches aren't trimmed up enough so we tried to stay to the left on the street and avoid them and not damage the antenna. Some of the turns were tight for our big rig but we managed to make it. We will come here again now that we know the routine. It was just a surprise from the last time we were here a couple of years ago. We camped at Will Rogers Memorial Center RV Parking in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Botanic Gardens are right next door and you can walk there. Kimball Art Museum is walkable and other sites as well. Always lots to do at Will Rogers with horse events, livestock events, agility shows, and more. Restaurants are close by car and the Zoo is also nearby. A great place to stay and tour Ft. Worth. The cost might seem high for a parking lot but as mentioned before there are FHU and believe me you'd pay much more at a hotel in this area.
