Timberlane RV Park & Resort, Bradenton, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Quiet and well maintained. Sites are spacious on grass. Expensive I know but I wish they had concrete or even heavy gravel. Staff is wonderful and helps set up everything at site. Even supplied boards for our jacks. Great communication before our arrival so we knew exactly where we would be setting up. Satellite reception at our site but probably not at all sites since there are trees around the park. Close to everything and the best exit from an RV park with an easy u turn to head towards I75 which is less than a mile away. We will definitely stay here again when visiting family in Bradenton. We camped at Timberlane RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Walmart is about two miles away. Publix and restaurants are close by. Golf courses close. Traffic is a challenge as always during the winter season so patience is needed.

Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park), Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Another wonderful Florida State Park. Spacious lots, good hook ups and beautiful setting. Walked on trail to river and got a chuckle out of the warning about the Rhesus Monkeys. I told a ranger I would not be thrilled to meet up with one and definitely wouldn't feed one! Wish we could have made it over to the glass bottom boats but maybe next time. The road through the city could be a bit tricky in a large rig but it was fine since there wasn't much traffic. Just a few turns that were tight. The roads in the park were easy to navigate. It is a bit of a drive from I75 but well worth it. As usual when in a heavily wooded area satellite reception is not available but it's nice to leave the media world behind sometimes. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Village Creek State Park, Wynne, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park is fabulous. Peaceful with NO outside noises other than nature itself. Lots to do and if you have a horse you can trailer in, stable, and stay in your own rig and then go riding on the trails. Makes me want a horse! The restrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. I did notice there wasn't a heater and as others mentioned no ventilation. Lots of open spaces and we enjoyed watching the deer come out to graze. The lake was pretty with the trees changing color and I wondered about the "beach". Not good for laying on but it didn't matter at this time of year. Just a wonderful relaxing place to enjoy the sites and sounds of nature. No cell phone service and no satellite. Perhaps another more open site would give you some reception but not where we were. Very nice staff at the front desk. We look forward to returning. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before and when calling for a reservation asked for the PA rate. Told they didn't have any remaining. Okay so we'll stay in the middle section. Upon arrival told we had a river site. Didn't ask for that and there WERE spaces in the PA section as well as the middle section. We were staying one night and didn't want to pay extra for the "river" site but that's what we had. Really didn't like the attitude of the office personnel who made it seem like we didn't have a choice. Will think twice before staying here again. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Forrest County RV Park, Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for one night and as others have said the sites are a bit challenging when it comes to levelling. We managed though and the hook ups were fine except for the water at our site didn't work but we just hooked up to the one next to us. Not an issue since there wasn't anyone coming in. There were a few families camping and a couple of others so we felt comfortable. Quiet and the lake was pretty. It's a nice event center we used to come to for dog agility trials and never knew the lake or RV area was here. We will definitely return since the price is good and it serves our needs. We camped at Forrest County RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice overnight stop. Good hookups and easy on/off from I-20. Train close by but with windows closed and AC on not a problem. Lights from the Loves right next door kept everything lit up well. This will be our go to stop when heading this way on I-20. We camped at Bar J Hitchin Post RV in a Motorhome.

Ruidoso Motorcoach Ranch (Class A Motorhomes Only), Alto, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Peaceful location with beautiful views all around. The owners and the manager are friendly, gracious people. Small park with only 29 sites and if available you get to choose your site. Full hookups that all work well. Nice walking/hiking trail through back of park but not level so be sure and wear appropriate shoes. It was a bit difficult in my flip flops! We couldn't make satellite contact at our site so didn't have that but they do offer cable. Although there aren't many channels but more will come I'm sure when they get more access to connectivity. It IS the mountains after all. We saw deer everyday and if you like hummingbirds this is the place. We saw and heard them all over and got buzzed quite frequently when we wore red or colorful shirts. Loved it!! Fire pit in the cool evening was nice and it will be hard to return to 100 degree temps. I do wish the fire pit could be covered to convert to a table for easier outdoor dining. With a location this lovely you want to be outside as much as possible. Look forward to returning. We camped at Ruidoso Motorcoach Ranch (Class A Motorhomes Only) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do here and according to my husband one of the best and prettiest golf courses at Rainmaker. Access is granted to the private Rainmaker club where you can use the fitness room, dining, and golf. Also, Ruidoso Downs is not far and we were given access to the Jockey club. Fun day at the races! Restaurants and shops abound and we will need to return to see more of them. Just didn't want to leave the Ranch very much since it was so relaxing.

Overall Rating:

A very well organized and clean park. Nothing fancy although we really enjoyed the desert type landscaping next to our site. Safe and quiet. All the hookups worked well and the site was level. We will definitely stop here again when we come this way. We camped at Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

Will Rogers Memorial Center RV Parking, Fort Worth, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

A Big FYI-the parking situation has changed dramatically from the last review. The lot on Harley is no longer available and for a MH needing 50 amp you MUST park in the more expensive lot behind the equestrian center. If you can use 30 amp there are spaces available next to the Swine building (remember this is a stock arena and has buildings labeled for specific stock) and the price is 30.00 for electric and water. The shower facilities used to be in the upper floor in the Swine bldg. and were fine. Since we didn't stay in this lot I don't know about them now. The 60.00 lot has full hook ups and is closer to the Watt arena where we needed to be for an agility show. You find a space and call the number given to you at the gate and a nice fellow comes out to turn on the electric. The spaces were VERY long as this lot is mostly for horse trailers which are huge and the spacing was quite nice. Hook ups worked fine but there was some confusion on the number on the power pedestal and the space number on the ground in the row we were on. They didn't really match. The lot is clean and fairly level with only minor tweaking needed for leveling. Water pressure good. Skyline at night is pretty and not much road noise at all. Make sure to go in the correct gate otherwise you make a big circle around the facility and one road is tree lined and the branches aren't trimmed up enough so we tried to stay to the left on the street and avoid them and not damage the antenna. Some of the turns were tight for our big rig but we managed to make it. We will come here again now that we know the routine. It was just a surprise from the last time we were here a couple of years ago. We camped at Will Rogers Memorial Center RV Parking in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Botanic Gardens are right next door and you can walk there. Kimball Art Museum is walkable and other sites as well. Always lots to do at Will Rogers with horse events, livestock events, agility shows, and more. Restaurants are close by car and the Zoo is also nearby. A great place to stay and tour Ft. Worth. The cost might seem high for a parking lot but as mentioned before there are FHU and believe me you'd pay much more at a hotel in this area.

Great Escape RV Park & Campground, Higginsville, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little park. They had just opened up for the season so things were not as neat and tidy as they could be. Mostly mowing needed but the owner was out there taking care of it. The dog park area was very much in need of mowing but once that's done is will be nice. Two pretty ponds and nice area to walk the dogs. Like I said, they had just opened and are getting things up and running again. The pool looked good and they were expanding the deck area. Meeting room/shower/laundry building looked in very good condition so I feel it will be a very nice, relaxing spot. At first glance it didn't seem so but it really grew on us and was peaceful and pretty. Site was level hookups worked well. The only thing that gave us trouble was our GPS in locating this park. It had us turn left instead of right which took us down a dead end road next to the Interstate. We knew we were in the wrong spot when it said our destination was on the left. Don't think so, that's the Interstate! We were able to turn around though and find it in the opposite direction. We camped at Great Escape RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Downstream RV Park, Quapaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this little gem. It's true some of the sites were a bit uneven but we managed to level our bus just fine. We chose to stay at the area in front of the Q store and while it was closer to the road the noise did not bother us at all and the area was pretty with trees around the parking lot. It was clean and there was a dump site available but it can get busy if everyone leaves at the same time. The shuttle picked us up quickly and the driver gave us a tour around to look at the buffalo and we got to see a few babies in the field with their mamas. One even ran around his mother kicking up his heels and having fun. The casino is pretty and a smaller one and the staff were all very nice. We stayed at this park on the return trip too and ate at the nice restaurant but might try the buffet next time. The food was delicious but it is more expensive than most. However, the savings on the nightly rate certainly makes up for it. We actually didn't pay anything either time but would gladly pay the PA rate if needed. On the return trip we pulled into the lot closer to the casino. It was quite full and this is where the truckers park. It was MUCH noisier so we headed back to the other lot across from the Q store. We chose to stay here again instead of another park we had a reservation at because it was storming and flooding where we were going and we knew this park would be safer and it was. This will be a regular stop whenever we head in this direction. We camped at Downstream RV Park in a Motorhome.

You get a card with 7.00 on it to get you started at the slots. I much prefer the old days though when all you had to do was throw in some coins and pull a handle! We're not gamblers though but it was fun to give it a go. A few restaurants available.

High Desert RV Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park at a reasonable rate. So many others in this area are way overpriced for an overnight stay. Clean, well maintained and the best dog park for our two dogs. It was clean, easy to pick up after our pups and they had a ball running around chasing each other. There were a couple of run off areas that might be cause for concern for small dog owners. Management might want to fill them in a bit. We will definitely return when in this area. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Motorhome.
