Wakeda Campground, Hampton Falls, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park. We had a very long, paved, pull-through site that was nice and level. Park is well located to do things in Boston or up in Maine. Cell service for Verizon was good and Sprint was decent, but not great. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Wakeda Campground in a Motorhome.

Hadley's Point Campground, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Our back-in, grass site was nice and level. It's a bit tight, but they help you get backed in so it wasn't an issue. They have a honey wagon service that you can schedule to come by and dump your black and gray tanks. Our boys took full advantage of the pool.

Would have been an excellent deal, for where we were, if we had full hookups. Verizon service worked well, but Sprint did not. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of hiking to do in Acadia.

Be sure to visit the Happy Clam Shack. Better prices than across the street and very nice people.

Sunset Point RV Trailer Park, Lubec, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little campground, right on the water. Beautiful views.
Grass spaces are a little tight, but nice.
There are no sewer hookups, but there's a dump station and a honey wagon service.
Verizon wireless signal is nice and strong. We camped at Sunset Point RV Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visiting FDR's home in Campobello is fun. Be sure to take your passports!
Make the trip over to Two River's Lobster Co. You can buy lobster right at the wharf and the campground provides everything you need to cook them. It's a lot of fun!

Plattsburgh RV Park, Plattsburgh, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Our reservation for a 50Amp pull through was not honored. We received a 30Amp back in site that was not well maintained. It was covered it trash and appeared to be where people walked their dogs, excrement was everywhere. Manager was unwilling to move us to the area we reserved because we only booked two nights, even though several sites were empty in that area.

We will never stay here again. We camped at Plattsburgh RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed here to make a day trip to Montreal. It was a fantastic trip, too bad the park manager was so dishonest with us.

Lazy Lions Campground, Graniteville, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

The office is hidden up a rather narrow and bumpy gravel drive. Go slow, you'll be fine. Grass sites are nice and long with plenty of room. Beware, however, it's only 30Amp service. Which was a little surprising given the cost. We had some warm days, so we had to juggle cooking with air-conditioning to avoid tripping the breaker.
Park owners are friendly and helpful.

Verizon service is pretty good, Sprint is not that great. We camped at Lazy Lions Campground in a Motorhome.

B.J.'s RV Park, Terlingua, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This quickly became a favorite park of ours. We pulled into BJ's just before dark on a dreary Saturday evening and the camp host came out to meet us and welcome us to the park. They showed us to our site and we discussed the best way for us to pull in and get situated.

The park itself is nothing fancy. It has good power, level/gravel sites and strong/stable WiFi. Restrooms are clean and well cared for. It has everything you need...plus a very nice smoker.

The people are what really make this park stand out. It has a very warm, friendly atmosphere that keeps many guests coming back year-after-year. This is a place to come for good friends and conversation around a campfire.

We stayed two weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. We'll definitely be back next chance we get. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You're just a couple minutes from Big Bend National Park, which is a must see. There's also a market in town with a surprisingly good selection and a couple restaurants that are very good.

Verizon and Sprint service is enough to make a phone call or text, but that's about it.

Bayside RV Park, Valdez, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Bayside RV park for two weeks. The park is nice and big. There's no shade and it's essentially a large, gravel parking lot. The staff was friendly and helpful and kept everything clean and well cared for. The views of the mountains and bay are all amazing, complete with several waterfalls. We enjoyed our stay here and would revisit. We camped at Bayside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Be sure to check out the Worthington Glacier that's about 30 miles up the road. Fishing over near the hatchery is also fun.

Sourdough Campground, Tok, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are tucked into the trees, providing lots of privacy from neighbors.

There's a nightly pancake toss which could be fun. If you are able to toss a pancake into the bucket, you get a free breakfast. There's a "meet and greet" before the toss where everyone has to tell a little about themselves...not really my thing. If you don't clap and chant during the toss, the owner will harass and humiliate you in front of everyone else.

There's a small restaurant run by the owners and the food is OK, very expense (as is everything in Alaska), and small portions. We camped at Sourdough Campground in a Motorhome.

Oceanside RV Park has a beautiful view of the bay. Nearly everything is with in walking distance, as Haines is a small town. All sites are back-in and level. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Oceanside RV Park in a Motorhome.
