Desert Oasis, McNeal, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Small park in the AZ desert about 8 miles outside Bisbee. Owner and 1 work camper were friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. Trash gets collected at your site, there is a large rec hall with a weight room (quality gear), laundry, meeting area (sodas in the fridge - honor system, drop your money in the jar). Very pet friendly - if your dog doesn't chew on other dogs, they can run off-leash. Great nature walk around the perimeter of the park (~2 miles) for morning walks. Not much for lawns, but lots of desert landscaping to enjoy. Yes, your dog will find stickers and thorns - but not as bad as any other park we have visited in the desert over the years. We camped at Desert Oasis in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Just outside Bisbee - touristy kind of place, rich in mining history. Close to Douglas and Naco - quick pop across the border for inexpensive pharmacy and dental work. 20 miles from Coronado National Monument, with an Overlook that can be an exciting road if you are afraid of heights. As you are literally spitting distance from the border, there are Border Agents hiding behind just about every bush - careful if you choose not to use the outhouse!

Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only), Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice park kept in great shape. Lots of folks, but also lots of space. Stayed a week (Escapees special - $50 for 7 days). Many activities all week long for those so inclined - we preferred to explore the area. Most of the folks we met were long-termers and friendly. We had a very large site - able to park the 41' MH plus the 24' trailer plus the Jeep with lots of wandering room leftover. We camped at Saguaro Co-op Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally, Anthony, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

First impressions are not to be trusted. Looks like a big gravel parking lot - cold, sterile and inhospitable. Found that to be not the case. Ladies at check in very knowledgeable about area (needed several vehicle inspections). Sites are extremely large and level - largest we have ever experienced. New infrastructure; great dog park with real grass (quite a feat in the high desert). Maintenance staff friendly and helpful. Great off-highway access with a Camping World next door if you need to stock up on those camping gee-gaws we all need. We camped at Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally in a Motorhome.

La Junta KOA, La Junta, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Owners making great strides in developing this park. Great customer service. Infrastructure a bit limited - park hemmed in by a creek on one side and a shopping plaza on the other. Level site long enough for my 65'; some other reviewers commented on the train - the tracks are not near the park, and though you can tell there is a train passing, it was not disruptive. We camped at La Junta KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The entrance sign is rather small and indiscreet - when you see the Wal-Mart, you better have eyes on the KOA sign. We missed it and had to double back - GPS was no help at the time.

Triple J RV Park, Russell, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly park just off highway, but quiet. Large, level pull through sites in the "new section" where we stayed. Unfortunately, road/site design necessitates driving across lawns if driving anything larger than a small class C rig. My 65' combined will not do a 90 degree turn without some corner cutting. Fortunately, the manager was cool with everything. We camped at Triple J RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hanson Hills Campground , Kingdom City, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Staff friendly, but infrastructure rough. Our site, which we were told was the only one we would fit in, was easily 15 degrees off level (front to back). Appeared to be plenty of space around our site when we setup late afternoon, but we experienced several very close campers setting up into the evening. When we awoke, I discovered that I would barely be able to get my rig out through the obstacle course presented by campers and tow vehicles packed-in around us. Ran our A/C through the night to mask neighbor noise. We camped at Hanson Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is several miles of dirt road from the highway. It was tremendously dusty during our visit, but that was probably preferable to arriving on a rainy day - looks like access road and park would be a muddy mess.

West Haven at Lake Erie, Fairview, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00

Due to wet weather during our stay, mud everywhere. They are putting in cement block patios, and when all the work is done it will be very nice - and a lot less mud I am sure. Manager was very friendly and helpful. We camped at West Haven at Lake Erie in a Motorhome.

New Lisbon Family Campground, Straughn, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Though park is on the highway, it is large enough and the sites were far enough from the highway to be mostly quiet. Large, flat sites. Lots of lawn to play ball with the dog. Lady running check in very helpful - opened a normally closed, more direct exit for us the next morning so I wouldn't have to maneuver some tight corners getting out. We camped at New Lisbon Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Entrance is a severe (180 degrees) turn that was barely negotiated in our 41' mh with 24' trailer. If you travel shorter, you should have little problems getting in. Next time, I will call ahead as we arrive and have them open a normally closed exit that gives a straight shot to the sites.

On your approach to the campground, there is a 90 degree turn to the right just over a set of railroad tracks. If you are travelling long, as we do (41' with 24' trailer), prepare accordingly or you will drag your trailer over the tracks.

Chocorua KOA , West Ossipee, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

You can tell this park has been here awhile. The owners have made great strides in modernizing, with many 50 amp full service sites as well as pull-throughs. Don't fudge in stating your rig's length - there are definite limitations in some areas of the park, and the matter of a foot or two in length can make the difference between satisfaction and frustration. Beautiful setting on Moore's Pond, plenty of activities scheduled every weekend for those inclined, yet very peaceful away from the Pavilion area. Though we didn't use them, they have a handful of rustic cabins that are only accessible over a walking bridge - no power or wifi out there. They seem to be popular with campers while we were there. Just about the nicest ambiance of any park we have visited, and will definitely visit again when in the neighborhood. We camped at Chocorua KOA in a Motorhome.

Lot of outdoors activities in the park as well as in the area - hiking around Mt Chocurua, fishing at any number of very productive lakes close by, mountain biking on what seems to be a well-developed series of trails. If you remain a couch potato while at this park, it is your fault.

Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc., Forrest City, Arkansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an ideal overnight spot on I-40 - easy on, easy off. Good, basic accomodations; no cable but a good wifi connection. Solid, level gravel drive and sites, with enough green between to keep the dog happy. The owner is an amiable gentlemen actively involved in his operation. If you give the owner a call before you get there (he does fill up most of the time) and make a reservation, he will text you a map to his location if needed. We will keep this spot on our list when travelling I-40 in Arkansas. We camped at Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc. in a Motorhome.

Allentown KOA, New Tripoli, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Great ambiance in a uniquely designed park. Built into a small mountain valley with a pleasant running stream, sites range up and down the sides of the valley. Quiet (perhaps because of their puritan views of alcohol - it is banned in the park), but also early in the season. Loved our stay! We camped at Allentown KOA in a Motorhome.

Excellent facilities, with a notable exception -WiFi unusable to the point of non-existence. Great location to access Colorado River or East & West Matagorda bays. Sites are generously spaced, and the place was very well kept. Would have given it a 9 out of ten but for the WiFi issue, which is inexcusable in 2016. Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly and accommodating. Staff is very attentive and helpful. We are staying for a couple of months, and made reservations at the last minute. This required us to move a couple of times in the first weeks until we settled into our permanent spot, and staff were extremely helpful in facilitating these moves. The park is just the right distance from Colorado Springs - ~20 minutes on good, fast roads. Quiet, clean and full of wildlife to enjoy. I hesitate to recommend highly as it will only mean a harder time to get a reservation next year, but I have to give it to them - this is one of the best parks we have stayed at as fulltimers. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.
