Chain-O-Lakes State Park, Spring Grove, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here while visiting Chicago. People in the check-in building were very friendly. Showers were clean, but the type of shower heads and water pressure was awful. They shower head was too high, so you barely got any water on you unless you are very tall. Also its the annoying push button type. The mosquitos were HORRIBLE!!!! We could not even sit outside. Each night before going to bed we had to kill mosquitos inside our camper. Approx. 10-20.I know the campground is surrounded by water, but surely they could could fog/spray throughout the campground occasionally. Also did not like the gritty stuff on the site.It rained while we were there and it was hard to keep from tracking it in the camper. We will not he returning here. We camped at Chain-O-Lakes State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Douglas Headwater Campgrounds, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located just northeast of Sevierville, approx. 3-5 miles from I-40. Signs were posted and easy to follow. Campground has 3 hosts that rotate days on. Check in was simple (had reservations). Had 19 reserved, but when we arrived noticed that 2 sites butted up to each other. They gladly moved us to a pullthru. Sites were gravel and concrete pad. However, depending how your site is laid out and how you pull into your site the concrete pad ended up under our camper. That was not a problem, just helped when putting the jacks down. The leaves were falling during our stay and the hosts blowed the leaves from the roadway and the campsites daily. Campground was spotless and nicely mowed. There are 3 bathrooms/showers in the campground. One bathhouse is individual so you can lock the door, it is an all in one type (toilet, shower and sink). Showers were hot. Only negative was they are the push button type, but not a big deal to me. The hosts said they had to go to this type due to people leaving the showers running. Beautiful view of the lake at most of the sites. There are two loops. One section has a lower section where the sites are right on the lake. These sites are sloped then level off. Check the website and it describes each site. It is a 10-20 minute drive into Sevierville/Pigeon Forge depending on traffic. The road in from the campground is a little curvy but nothing major. We will diffently will return to this campground. We camped at Douglas Headwater Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Hernando Point - COE, Hernando, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice COE park. Our site was 75. Nice paved driveway, huge concrete pad with picnic table. (We had 2 tables at this site.) Fire pit was at the back of our camper about 30-40 feet. Grill was on the concrete pad with picnic table. The bathrooms/showers were nice and clean. Showers were nice and HOT. The only reason I didn't rate higher was do to the upkeep of the grounds. Needed mowed and some tlc. Part of this was due to the recent flooding. We camped at Hernando Point - COE in a Travel Trailer.

Redman Creek Campground COE, Wappapello, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

First time to the area, so we didn't make reservations. The campground is divided into 2 different areas West 1-40 sites and across the highway 42-100. VERY clean campground!! Bathrooms were very well maintained by the camp hosts. Showers were very nice and hot. We drove around the area and looked at the other campgrounds, and were glad we chose this one . We will definitely be coming back. We camped at Redman Creek Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Opossum Creek Campground COE, Shelbyville, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We went to this campground with the expectation of having free wifi and cable, since it is listed in their amenities. Upon arriving the camp host informed us that they did not have either. We were very disappointed. We went across the lake and stayed at another COE campground. We camped at Opossum Creek Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.
