We LOVE to camp and wish we could do it full time. Someday hopefully. We enjoy the mountains and meeting all the great people at campgrounds. Nothing is more relaxing but at the same time exhilarating, than camping!!

Cross Winds Family Campground, Linwood, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

The grounds are very well maintained including the restrooms. Sites are large and private but not level. Had to drive up on leveling blocks to keep the back coach tires from being suspended in air after lowering the levelers. Probably wouldn't have this issue with a trailer. I-85 very close and can hear it day and night, but didn't bother us. Very good water pressure. Very nice owners and other campers. Some "long" term campers but their sites don't give you the impression that they "live" there like some other campgrounds allow. Nice trails within the campground that lead to the lake. No camp store on premise so be sure you have what you need or you'll be driving at least 4 miles to the closest store. This campground is meant for R&R and to visit local attractions as not much to do on site other than the trails. Nice that Sunday checkout is 4pm!! This is an awesome perk!! We will certainly return!! We camped at Cross Winds Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Deep Creek Tube Center & Campground, Bryson City, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

RV site very muddy and in need of serious gravel and leveling. Roads have some serious pot holes. The rate you pay is not worth what you get. The water pressure was NONEXISTENT making it very hard to take a shower or clean dishes. Store is VERY dusty and in need of serious cleaning. Bathhouses have no soap dispensers or anything to dry hands with. Staff not friendly or rude, they're just there. Seems they don't take pride in their campground but it could be awesome if they did. Rated 4 only due to location as it's close to GSMNP for hiking and tubing! 3 minutes to Bryson City which is a great town, and only 20 minutes to Cherokee... Location is great. Couldn't park tow vehicle in tandem with rv due to site being all mud, hence the reason for the need for gravel.... We camped at Deep Creek Tube Center & Campground in a Motorhome.

Rutledge Lake RV Park, Fletcher, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

RV park well maintained. Staff was friendly. Other camping guests were friendly and we had a great time talking with them. Many sites appear to be residents, but not an issue, as they were nice folks. Lake sites are tight. Campground is all gravel though wasn't an issue, as no dust problem. Some sites are not level and are lower in the front, so bring boards if you don't want your front MH wheels off the ground after you put your levelers down. Nice pool and laundry room and clean large restrooms. Club house could be better used and attention given to the equipment for pool and ping pong games. Need more dumpsters, as only saw one, which was full by Monday morning, in the park. They seem to be in the process of making improvements to the playground and lake area, as there were mounds of sand dumped and sitting there. Unfortunately there were no group activities planned during our stay. We camped at Rutledge Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Creekwood Farm RV Park, Waynesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

RV park very well maintained. Staff was very friendly. Other camping guests were very friendly and we had a great time talking with them. Bingo was fun (actually won a game!!) and the park sponsored a cookout with burgers, hot dogs and fixins plus live music for the memorial holiday. Very nice way to meet others. Only negatives would be having your neighbors sewer connection not far from your patio (which was small), road signage in the park is small and sites are tight, especially in the "pull throughs" as you have another camper directly behind you. One oddity is that the sites are not angled but straight, which could make it a challenge to pull in or out of your site if the park was crowded. Though these things would not stop us from staying here again! We camped at Creekwood Farm RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Bathrooms need air conditioning and a remodel. Tight roads and campsites, but the norm for a KOA. Great location as you can walk to Old Mill Village and the main trolley station. Small pool, nice store and great that they have a cafe on property that delivers too!! Needs better signage on where to park your car on your site, maybe the site # with a "P" for parking after it?? Many were parking in the wrong parking spot leaving others with nowhere to park their trucks. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Lots of great activities for families with kids. We camped at Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA in a Motorhome.

Twin Creek RV Resort, Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Extremely well maintained property with friendly owners and fellow campers. The campsites are near to each other though this wasn't an issue. The roads are wide and easy to maneuver making it easy to back into the sites. We stayed on the creek which are the front lower sites but the sites at the back top of the campground get a great breeze which would be better in warmer weather. No issues with the campsites utilities all were very accesible. Stayed here to visit Gatlinburg and was close enough to make it a short ride. We used the trolley service right at the campground entrance. Very convenient. We camped at Twin Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $106.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Fort Wilderness many many times and continue to love it. There are so many things to do and see you can't get bored. We walk and bike around the campground for hours enjoying the wooded setting and talking to other campers. Sites are large, though some loops are small with tight sites though they are near the activities so some positive trade offs. Some of the bus drivers are not friendly, but luckily the others make up for it. One significant change we have seen over the years is Disney allowing campers to park multiple cars at one campsite. This makes for a crowded loop and can be a challenge to maneuver in a big coach. Golf carts are an issue as not all drivers abide by the rules and move over for vehicles, causing safety issues. Disney needs to review the golf cart rules with all golf cart renters as well as those who bring their own golf carts. At $65 a day rental, suggest bringing your bikes or walk, for some great exercise!! We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For some free fun, take the boat over to the Contemporary, and take the Monorail to visit the high end hotels. From Magic Kingdom, you can take a bus to Boardwalk hotel and walk the boardwalk or rent a surrey bike. One of our favorite things to do it go to Downtown Disney, now called Disney Springs. Lots to do and see. ENJOY!!

Mountain Stream RV Park, Marion, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is very well maintained and the owners take pride in it. The sites are level with plenty of gravel. Even when pouring rain, there are no puddles or mud. The creek is beautiful. The road to get to the campground is dicey, but once you are there, the peacefulness is worth the ride!! We camped at Mountain Stream RV Park in a Motorhome.

Moonshine Creek Campground, Balsam, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground and property with creek and trails. Very nice people that both work and camp here. We had rain the whole time, and unfortunately, the sites are lacking gravel and some sit lower than the road, leaving us with a muddy campsite. There are some low hanging branches that may brush against the top and/or sides of coach. All that being said, the owners are very nice (as are all the work campers) and are slowly making improvements, as is evident in the new bathrooms, and advised us they are bringing in more gravel this fall. They also have continued plans for improvement. They take pride in their campground. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Moonshine Creek Campground in a Motorhome.
