Beaver Lake Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground located a few miles outside of Custer. We stayed here 4 days while visiting the southern Black Hills. WiFi in the park was great (they had just upgraded their service). Water was the best we have ever had in a campground. Verizon and ATT service was very spotty in campground. Utilities worked well and were located conveniently at site. We camped at Beaver Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure to drive the Iron Mountain Road and Needles Highway: two of the most scenic drives in the USA. Mount Rushmore & Crazy Horse Memorial are close. Visit Custer State Park: see movie at Visitor's Center and drive the Wildlife Loop. We got a lot of information about the area by going by the Visitor's Center in the town of Custer.

Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground located a few miles east of Spearfish. Interior roads are all paved and easy to navigate. Site are concrete and level. We had some issues with the electricity at our first site, but moved after the first day and did not have any other problems. WiFi worked OK (slow when there are lots of campers in the park). Cable had a large number of channels. Both Verizon & ATT had a good signal in the park. Bathrooms & showers were great. We stayed for an entire month and so the rate reflects the monthly discount. We used this located to visit the local attractions in western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming. We camped at Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Platte River RV & Campground, Glenrock, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground on the Platte River. RV sites are located on a rise above the river with tent camping below. Entire campground is gravel and does get dusty when conditions are dry (most of the year). Sites are level and utilities worked well. WiFi is great and we were able to stream Amazon Prime at any time of day. We had a pull through site with plenty of room for both our motor home & Jeep. One grocery store in town so we did most of our shopping in Casper which is 25 miles west on I-25. We had both Verizon and AT&T service. Owners/Managers are very nice and helpful. We camped at Platte River RV & Campground in a Motorhome.

National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper is worth spending time at. There is a 10 mile bike path in Casper along the North Platte River. Fort Laramie Historic Site is about 85 miles east of campground along with Oregon Trail Ruts site. We liked the pizza at Classic Cafe & Pizza in Glenrock (we had the Hawaiian & added garlic/onions).

Lazy Acres Campground & Motel, Riverside, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice family owned campground in the small town of Riverside WY. Located on the Encampment River but most of the sites are located uphill from the water. Sites have large trees but we were able to connect our satellite dish to DirecTV. They also have cable with a decent selection of channels. Sites are level and all of the utilities worked fine. WiFi in park was fast enough for us to stream a couple of Amazon Prime movies. AT&T worked fine but no Verizon service. We would stay at this park again if we are in the area. We camped at Lazy Acres Campground & Motel in a Motorhome.

Red Mountain RV Park, Kremmling, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Small family owned RV park in Kremmling. Sites are very close to together with no grass (all packed gravel). Sites are level and all of the utilities worked well while we were there. Had two sewer connections. We used the back one since the other had a broken pipe. Required two sewer hoses to reach. WiFi was slow but dependable (fine for email and web surfing). Park tends to get dusty if there is not any rain. Kremmling is a ranching community with a lot a BLM land that can be used for 4 wheeling or dirt biking. A couple of small lakes located near the town. We used this park as a central location to visit the Rocky Mountain National Park, Steamboat Springs area and the Leadville/Vail/Silverthorne region (all of which are about 1 hour drives). There is a small grocery store in Kremmling but we usually shopped in Granby or Steamboat Springs for most of our food. Had strong signals for both Verizon and AT&T. Not sure if we would stay here again since there was not much for us to do in Kremmling. We camped at Red Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Capulin RV Park & Camp, Capulin, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Small RV park located about halfway between Clayton and Raton NM. The town has only 70 people in it per the sign. Near the Capulin Volcano National Monument which is worth the stop here for a couple of nights. WiFi was slow but did work. The park is clean and well maintained. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Capulin RV Park & Camp in a Motorhome.

Pony Express RV Resort, North Salt Lake, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located just off of the Interstate Highway but we were not bothered by any highway noise with a location closer to the office and away from the highway. Level concrete sites with grass in between sites. Sites are close together but angled entry makes it seem bigger. Water, 50 amp electric and sewer were all OK. The sewer connections are located at the back of the site and can require several sewer hoses to cover the distance from RV to sewer. Bathrooms/showers are combined units with individual doors. WiFi was slow but dependable. Verizon and AT&T cell phone signals were good with location in a major city. You can also pick up about 50 channels over the air (park also has cable that we did not use since we have DirecTV on board). Park is conveniently located near shopping and you can get downtown in a few minutes. We camped at Pony Express RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bauer's Canyon Ranch RV Park, Glendale, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground located about halfway between Zion National and Bryce Canyon parks. Site are level, electricity worked fine, water was hard, water pressure was good. WiFi was slow but dependable. Sites are close together, but we spent most days visiting the parks & other locations in the area. Gravel roads in campground and on sites. Was conveniently located and that is why we chose this RV park. We would stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Bauer's Canyon Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lost Alaskan RV Park, Alpine, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park is located on the edge of Alpine. All of the hook-ups worked fine and the WiFi in the park was slow but usable. The site are close together and the concrete picnic table are located at the front of the site while the hookups are at the rear of the site. Sites are level. Very little grass in the park with the dry winter they have had. Alpine is a college town and has more stores/shops than some of the other smaller nearby cities. This RV park looked to be the nicest one in Alpine after we drove by the others in town. We camped at Lost Alaskan RV Park in a Motorhome.

River View RV Park & Resort, Vidalia, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Campground located on the Mississippi River but you really don't see the river from your site. There is a nice 1.5 mile walking trail that runs along side the river that you can access from the park. WiFi in the park worked well and we had a decent AT&T cell service in the park. Sites are close but there is a mixture of concrete pads and grass sites next to each other. When we were there the park was almost empty so everyone was on concrete pads. We were there for only 3 nights so that we did not explore the area. Natchez MS is across the river from Vidalia and is the bigger of the two cities. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Paragon Casino Resort RV Park, Marksville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground next door to the casino. We had a concrete pad on a pull through site. All of the roads within the campground are concrete and in good shape. The sites are spaced out so that you are close to neighbors but not sitting on top of them. A shuttle bus can take you to the casino 24 hours a day (it comes by every few minutes). There is also a golf course located on the grounds of the casino. Lots of area to walk and ride bikes around the facilities. Casino is comparable to other Indian casinos in Louisiana that we have been to. There is no much to do in the area other than the casino. We camped at Paragon Casino Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hadley's Point Campground, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We camp here for a week while we visited Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There is a free shuttle bus service that will take you from the campground to most points in the area (limited schedule after Sept 1st). In the area for big rigs the sites are close together. We had 50 amp electric and water. Electricity worked fine while water pressure was low but adequate. The park will pump out your black/grey water tanks for $12. The site was level. WiFi in the park worked OK during our time there. AT&T cell service was spotty. There is a small pool in the park and a small beach about 1/2 mile from the campground. Although we do not have kids there was a play area in the park. We were close to trees but able to get our satellite dish to connect to 2 of 3 DirecTV satellites. Got a couple of OTA stations. We camped at Hadley's Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax, Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this campground because it was close to Halifax. The sites are very close together and they put RV's back to back in most of the pull through sites. The campground had very dusty gravel roads due to the lack of rain in the area. The WiFi in the park worked well when we were there. We barely had enough room to put out our slides due to the bushes/trees planted between the sites. We were able to use our satellite to get DirecTV. The park was OK for our stay since we were gone almost every day visiting areas in this part of Nova Scotia. The utilities worked well with our only complaint being low water pressure on the weekends when the park was full. We camped at Woodhaven RV Park of Halifax in a Motorhome.

Ponderosa Pines Family Campground, Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in one of the larger sites designed with motorhomes in mind (utilities on the correct side to pull straight in). We had a nice view between the bushes of a small pond. Sites are close together and the park roads were dusty when we were there due to a lack of rain. The park has a small not heated pool that we did not use. We had a nice view of the bay from outside our RV and could see the tides coming in & out. There is a mix of tent camping, small RV's and large motorhomes in the campground. WiFi worked OK. Great location for visiting Hopewell Rocks & Fundy National Park. It's a 40 minute drive into Moncton for a grocery store of any size. Roads inside the park are gravel & rough. Tompkins COE, Tioga, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are very shady with most being located in the trees. Our site had the electric/water hookups on the top of a mound while the sewer was located close to the site. The patio/picnic table/fire ring was located up the side of a hill behind the site. There is a small swimming area in the park on the lake. Roads in the park are tight but manageable. At&T service was OK but we were unable to use our rooftop satellite dish because of the trees. One long hiking trails runs along the lake although its not very well maintained in parts of it. Not close to any grocery stores. We did not get on the lake but it looked very nice. We camped at Tompkins COE in a Motorhome.
