Country Lakes Family Campground, Montville, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park has been renamed "Hidden Lakes Family Campground". Stayed here for 2 nights while attending the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. A good solid place to stay. Hidden Lakes is geared more for seasonal campers, but does have a large selection of non seasonal sites. "Pull through" site is actually 2 back in sites. Site had 30 amp electrical and water. No sites have sewer, but they have a dump station that is easy to use or a truck that comes around and will empty you tanks (for a fee). Wi-Fi is available for a fee ($4 per day) I did not use the Wi-Fi so I cannot comment on whether is is good or not. We would stay here again. We camped at Country Lakes Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Yesterdays RV Park, Oswego, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A good solid park that is less than 5 miles from the Sterling Renaissance Fair and is never full. The price increased from last year with no noticeable improvements. I would still stay here while attending the Renaissance Fair, but it is becoming less attractive. Power worked well. We camped at Yesterdays RV Park in a Motorhome.

Field and Stream RV Park, Brookline, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a weekend while visiting friends in Nashua. Quite a few of the sites are seasonal/permanent campers, but all are well maintained. Our site was roomy for an older campground. W/S/E were all in excellent condition and did not require any extra hoses or cable. Sewer pipe was a bit high. Asphalt surface was a little beat up, but level, solid, and easy to back into. There was no designated dog walk, rather several "don't walk your dog here" areas. Very nice stream and pond, and plenty of trees around the outside. The free Wi-Fi was excellent. Great coverage, strong signal, and I never experienced it slowing down. $45 per night is the going rate in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay here again. We camped at Field and Stream RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The New Hampshire Renaissance Fair is about an hour away in Kingston on the second and third weekends in May. Small but a nice day trip, and proceeds benefit local charities.

Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

An older "Western Themed" campground. Stayed here for an overnight, so didn't use the facilities available. Only hooked up electric which worked well. Made reservation 3 hours out. Check in went fairly smooth. Staff wasn't the most friendly, nor were they rude. Park has Wi-Fi that works quite well in the evening and early morning. Access is "different". Not far from the exit on I-81, but you drive through a residential neighborhood to get to the campground. Interior road are a little tight, but I did not observe anyone having a problem navigating them. We would stay her again if it was on the way, but I wouldn't plan my trip around this park. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pelican Point RV Park, Cherry Point MCAS, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Pelican Point is only a few years old. Everything is in excellent repair and works well. Getting a hold of the personnel in the office can take a bit. Just leave a message and they will get back to you. Staff is friendly and helpful. Active, retired, or DoD ID required to get on base. We camped at Pelican Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Hartwell State Park, Fair Play, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Lake Hartwell State Park is a great place to get away. Made reservations over the phone though probably didn't need to. Even with a big game at Clemson, the sites were not all taken when we left Saturday about 11am. Park entrance is about a mile from I-85. Staff was friendly and efficient. Check in took all of 2 minutes. Site was asphalt, very level, and plenty long enough. Water and electric close together. No sewer, but a dump station is provided. There is no Wi-Fi, unless you bring your own. Toilets and shower building was very clean. We camped at Lake Hartwell State Park in a Motorhome.

Pioneer Village Campground, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This place is one of the hidden gems. A bit harder than average to get to. Thanks to the beastly little hill that provides the secluded charm. I have no idea if there are any attractions near here, as I prefer to stop here and just relax. No dedicated pet area, but plenty of open space, trees, and even a creek, to walk your dog. Sites are well maintained and most are very level. Plenty long enough. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The Wi-Fi here is excellent. Can get slow during high usage times. For $30.00 I would think Pioneer Village would be hard to beat. We camped at Pioneer Village Campground in a Motorhome.

PA Dutch Country Campground, Outdoor World, Manheim, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects non-thousand trails member price. This is a well kept park manned by a friendly helpful staff. Park appears to have been designed in the 60's at the heyday of the 12 foot travel trailer. I counted 6 pull through sites. Site slope is pretty extreme on most of the sites. Wi-Fi is available for $6 per day. Thought that was pretty pricey, so we did not partake. Campground is very close to the PA Renaissance Faire, and this was the criteria for choosing it. I will give one of the others in the area a try next time. We camped at PA Dutch Country Campground, Outdoor World in a Motorhome.

Yesterdays RV Park, Oswego, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights while attending the Sterling Renaissance Fair. Staff was friendly and helpful. Park is pretty basic, with no pull-through sites. There is no Wi-Fi here either. Sites were level enough, but rather soft and my levelers sunk in a bit. W/S/E all worked very well. Park is quiet and worked well for us. Being 5 miles from the Fair went a long way in overlooking some of the shortcomings. We camped at Yesterdays RV Park in a Motorhome.

Falling Waters Campsite, Falling Waters, West Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here one night again, as it is about halfway on our annual NC to NY pilgrimage. Went with a 30/50/W/S/E this time. Site was nice and level, with easy in and out. Love the easy access from I-81, friendly helpful staff, large store ,and propane. We should probably try other campsites in the area, but why fix something that isn't broken. We camped at Falling Waters Campsite in a Motorhome.

Asheville East KOA, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped for one night. Nice older KOA that is under improvement/repair. Friendly helpful staff. Decently stocked store. Price is pretty much the going rate around the greater Asheville area. 2 miles from exit 59 I-40. Entrance is through a small parking lot of another business. Overnight sites are level and well maintained but are a bit close. Majority of sites are just across the Swannanoa River, which runs through the park. W/S/E all worked well. Wi-Fi had great coverage, but less than great performance. During peak hours, internet access slowed to a crawl. We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Motorhome.

Clarksville RV Park & Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 4 nights while visiting our daughter at Ft Campbell. We would have given an Excellent rating, but have to concede there is a fair amount of noise from I-24 and the scrapyard on the other side of the local road. We were not disturbed by either, but if noise is an issue for you and you are here with the windows open, it needs to be considered. Now that is out of the way. Campground is well maintained and clean with a friendly helpful staff. Sites are level and well maintained, with plenty of shade, but not so much as to be a major impediment to Satellite reception. Sites are close but still have plenty of room for sliders/awnings. W/S/E all worked excellent. Campground store is well stocked. WiFi had great coverage, but did get a bit slow during peak usage. There are plenty of stores and services nearby. Very easy access from exit 1, I-24. We camped at Clarksville RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Stopped for one night. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decent access from I-40. Full hookup pullthrough site clean and level with fire pit and picnic table. Fuel at exit. Wi-Fi was excellent. Price was similar or lower than surrounding RV parks. Pet friendly, but dog walk areas are just so-so. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Motorhome.

Pioneer Village Campground, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Due to unseasonably warm weather, this park was still open on the 22nd of December, I had called prior to be sure. Normally they would be closed due to a combination of snow and a beastly hill you have to climb over to get to the campground. That and noise from I-81 being the only 2 negatives. Beyond that, this is a beautiful campground that is well kept by some very friendly people. It has a wonderful area to walk down by the river. Sites are quite level, long and wide, though very patterned. Utilities were spread out along the site, but not so far as to require extra hose or cable. Decent access from I-81 with plenty of services at the exit. We would stay here again. We camped at Pioneer Village Campground in a Motorhome.

Had stayed here in April, and as it is about halfway between NY and NC stayed again. 30/W/E site was nice and level. Not quite as nice as the site we had in April. Easy access from I-81. Friendly helpful staff, large store and propane. Would not hesitate to stay again. We camped at Falling Waters Campsite in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Exiting lower driveway is "right turn only". Not a big deal if you are heading south, but means some back tracking if headed north. Upper driveway allows turn in either direction.
