Cherry Grove Campground, Wolcott, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 2 nights while attending the Sterling Renaissance Festival. $40 seems to be the going rate for a full hookup in this area. All utilities were in good condition and located in a logical manner. The park is majority seasonal sites with 20 "over night" pull through sites. Our site was quite level with just enough slope so that water would not pool. All the sites are quite close, but are well maintained and kept in order. The wi-fi worked well. There is a trail set aside for dog walking. A pool, miniature golf, and a large "jumping pillow" available. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cherry Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Caskeys Campground, Orrville, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Lehman's Hardware in Kidron. I think the campground was originally built to support attendance at the, now defunct, Wild West Show arena next door. Most of the sites appear to be occupied by seasonal campers, but sites are neat and well maintained. Our site was grass and fairly level with 30 amp electric and water. There is a dump station on the exit road and a pumping service is provided for a fee. The staff and fellow campers were courteous and friendly. There is a well maintained swimming pond and a pond for fishing. We would stay here again if we were in the area. We camped at Caskeys Campground in a Motorhome.

Ohio Turnpike - Tiffin River Service Plaza, West Unity, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Essentially an RV parking lot with 20,30, and 50 amp electric hookups. Potable water and a dump station are easily accessible. Fast food, convenience store, bathrooms, and fuel are all available as part of the turnpike service area. I wish more rest areas were like this, as it allows you to spend the night without having to leave the highway. All the RV facilities were in excellent condition. I definitely plan to utilize this service when traveling through Ohio in the future. We camped at Ohio Turnpike - Tiffin River Service Plaza in a Motorhome.

Cherry Glen COE, Johnston, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 5 nights while visiting family in the greater Des Moines area. A great Corps of Engineers campground. The area itself is hilly, but the sites are all quite level. Our site had 20 and 30 amp electric, but 50 amp is available. No water or sewer at site, but there was a potable water spigot less than 50 feet from out site. Dump station and main potable water is at the entrance. Bathrooms and showers were all well maintained and very clean. Although there is no direct access to Saylorville Lake from the campground, access is just outside the campground entrance. We camped at Cherry Glen COE in a Motorhome.

Sandy Beach Camp, Solon, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 4 nights while visiting family in Swisher / Cedar Rapids. A great Corps of Engineers campground. Sites were level and well maintained. Bathrooms and showers were very well maintained and very clean. Interior road are well maintained and easy to navigate. Dump station and potable water are at the entrance. The road from I380 to the entrance is 2 lane, but plenty wide enough. Though it is a bit rough in spots. Park was pretty empty when we arrived on a Thursday evening, but filled up by Saturday morning. Fellow campers were friendly, courteous and respectful. Longer stays might find the lack of water, sewer, and wi-fi a negative. But, for $20 a night and being right on the lake, I feel it is a great value. We camped at Sandy Beach Camp in a Motorhome.

Ohio Turnpike - Indian Meadow Service Plaza, West Unity, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is essentially a parking lot with electrical hook ups. I wish more states did this at rest areas. No need to exit the turnpike. Sites have no sewer or water hook up, but the dump station and potable water are easy access, and you are only supposed to stay one 24 hour period anyway. Fast food, toilets, and fuel are all available as part of the service area. Sites are only 40 feet long, so larger outfits may not find them as convenient as we did. There is a kiosk at the entrance to pay the $20 and get the receipt that doubles as your pass, so there is no need to enter the main building We camped at Ohio Turnpike - Indian Meadow Service Plaza in a Motorhome.

River's Edge Cottages & RV Park, Vergennes, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I was actually referred here by River Bend Campground in New Haven, as their one pull through site was being used. It really seems the campgrounds in this area are geared to seasonal resident. The staff was friendly and helpful. the campground is very well maintained and tended. Sites were level and in great shape. They have one site for non-seasonal campers, so it is hit and miss if they have an opening. We camped at River's Edge Cottages & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just down the road from the DR Power factory store. Close to lake Champlain. They don't really cater to transients, so it is iffy getting a spot here.

Field and Stream RV Park, Brookline, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Planned to stay here for a weekend while visiting friends in Nashua, but ended up extending a day. A lot of the sites are seasonal/permanent campers, but all are very well maintained. W/S/E were all in excellent condition and did not require any extra hoses or cable. Sewer pipe was a bit high. Asphalt surface was in good shape, level, solid. We had a pull through this time. Very nice stream and pond, and plenty of trees around the outside. The free Wi-Fi was excellent. Great coverage, strong signal, and I never experienced it slowing down. We really enjoyed it here last year, and this year everything was even nicer. I would certainly stay here again. We camped at Field and Stream RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rocky Branch Marina & Campground, Spotsylvania, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First the positive. The staff is friendly, at least while they are taking your money, and it was very close to our reason for visiting. Beyond that, this was by far the worst place I have ever parked my RV. Level is not something you will find here. The electrical boxes have not been maintained in years. The water pressure was weak when we arrived and pretty much non-existent when the second camper arrived. A previous reviewer mentioned cats. Not to worry, the chickens, geese, ducks, and loose running dogs have chased all the cats away. If you choose to stay here, disposable shoes would be a wise investment as it is difficult to avoid the poo from the menagerie of wild beasts afoot. They don't give you a list of rules when you check in, as apparently there are none. At least it does quiet down when your fellow campers have passed out and there is no one to put new batteries in the boom box. Nothing has been maintained. The icing on the cake was being charged $40 a night. We will not be staying here again. We camped at Rocky Branch Marina & Campground in a Motorhome.

Falling Waters Campsite, Falling Waters, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is at the perfect halfway point for us when traveling from NY to/from NC. For us that goes a long way in compensating for the closeness of sites and less than perfect interior roads. They do seem to be in the process of fixing the roads and doing some updates/upgrades. The utilities work well here and the service has always been excellent. We will continue to stay here during our travels. We camped at Falling Waters Campsite in a Motorhome.

Pelican Point RV Park, Cherry Point MCAS, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park was already great. Now they have someone in the office 5 days a week during normal business hours. No more leaving messages and playing phone tag to get a reservation. All the services (W/S/E/Wi-Fi) work very well. We would stay here again and will continue to do so when visiting the eastern North Carolina area. We camped at Pelican Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cross Winds Family Campground, Linwood, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for 3 nights while visiting friends in Thomasville and attending the North Carolina Renaissance Fair. Campground is easy access from I-85. Sites all appear to be well maintained and some the most level I have seen. Staff was courteous and friendly. Electric/water/sewer all worked well. No shade on the pull through sites up front, but the rest of the park looked to be mostly shaded. Free secure Wi-Fi worked very well, though it did slow during peak usage times. Country Lakes Family Campground, Montville, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park has been renamed "Hidden Lakes Family Campground". Stayed here for 2 nights while attending the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. A good solid place to stay. Hidden Lakes is geared more for seasonal campers, but does have a large selection of non seasonal sites. "Pull through" site is actually 2 back in sites. Site had 30 amp electrical and water. No sites have sewer, but they have a dump station that is easy to use or a truck that comes around and will empty you tanks (for a fee). Wi-Fi is available for a fee ($4 per day) I did not use the Wi-Fi so I cannot comment on whether is is good or not. We would stay here again. Overall Rating:

A good solid park that is less than 5 miles from the Sterling Renaissance Fair and is never full. The price increased from last year with no noticeable improvements. I would still stay here while attending the Renaissance Fair, but it is becoming less attractive. Power worked well. We camped at Yesterdays RV Park in a Motorhome.
