Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA, Midland, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good campground. Very friendly and helpful staff. They take you to your campsite where you sit on a concrete pad. All utilities are in the right place for convenient hookups. Satellite access in our site #40 was excellent and WIFI was top notch. They make pizza in their office/store and deliver it to your site! About 3/4 mile off interstate 90 so no noise at night. A good place. We camped at Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Albert Lea / Austin KOA, Hayward, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We had made reservations months earlier for one night, specifying a pull through with satellite availability. Arriving mid afternoon we were assigned site 55. Questioned about satellite access, there was some discussion by the staff, until a woman who seemed to be in charge expressed confidence....(you should get it!). I asked about another site, 49 as I recall, which looked better, and was told it wasn't suitable for a big rig (upon later inspection I found it was no different than 55). When we rolled into 55, it was completely treed, big trees ... no way could we connect to the satellite. Worse, the utility hookups were at the extreme back end of the site. My 50 foot electrical cord could not reach it (coincidentally, I had bought an extension days before, so we had power). Our water hose barely reached the hookup (by making it a rope)...but I would have needed another 30 feet of sewer hose to reach that connection, which I didn't have. All the sites on our row, right by the cornfield, had the same setup. This is an old KOA that is not big rig friendly. All utility hookups extremely difficult to reach if you have a tow car. Seems management believes you must unhook your tow car to put the motorhome back far enough to hook up, which completely defies the reason for pull throughs, to stay hooked up for earlier getaways. I tire of some campgrounds that (a) think satellite availability is un-consequential, not their problem. Why are they not honest or at least attentive to this at reservation time? And (b) why do they cram big rigs into older sites that don't make the grade on hookup convenience? Of all companies, KOA ought to develop some standards on these items. And, oh yes, very dusty and rutted roadways. Not a good experience for us...we won't be back. We camped at Albert Lea / Austin KOA in a Motorhome.

Winton Woods Campground, Cincinnati, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

We generally shy away from municipal campgrounds (too tight, inadequate hookups) but this place is a gem. It is part of a very large county park with lots to do and costs $5 a day to come in and out with your car (or $14 for the season). But the campground is excellent, wide, concrete sites, lots of green in between, and full hookups. WIFI is strong, and good satellite reception in our pull through section. Easy to find, well off noisy highways, friendly staff. And close to downtown Cincinnati and all the attractions. We will come back. We camped at Winton Woods Campground in a Motorhome.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA, Plattekill, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't take advantage of amenities, such as the pool, but they appeared popular. We liked this park because our site was at the end of the run for big motorhomes, it was clean, very quiet at night and we got a good satellite signal. WIFI also worked reasonably well. This is a good central location to visit Vanderbilt, FDR and Culinary Institute across the river in Poughkeepsie and Washington's hdqts in Newburg. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Pelican Lake Motorcoach Resort, Naples, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $150.00
Overall Rating:

The cost of $150 per night is not a misprint. We have stayed here in past years when it was somewhat less, but of course we are now in high season, and the place was full. This is a Class A motorhome-only resort, which looks more like a high-end suburban housing development with paved streets and meticulous grassy areas bordering sidewalks. (You will see no gravel or dirt roads!) The sites are individually-owned and rented out, if the owner so chooses, when they are vacant. But at this time of year most sites appeared to be occupied by the owner, many with the biggest and fanciest motorhomes. Each site is huge, all boasting lush gardens and shrubs which gives one total privacy. Most sites have paving stones and creative patios complete with lots of outdoor furniture. The center piece of the property is a large lake and while the check in staff were happy and helpful, we had to press for a waterfront lot. Utilities all worked well. We didn't use the cable TV hookup because we had good satellite reception. The resort has all the amenities, including clubhouse, pools, tennis courts. A hidden benefit is a mobile RV mechanic who lives in the complex. We had to summon him late on a Friday afternoon when our water heater began leaking and he came right away. This is not your typical overnight-stay campground. It is a destination to relax and commune with lovely surroundings. We went for two nights. Perhaps they have discounts for longer stays. We camped at Pelican Lake Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Rivers Edge RV Campground, Holt, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

When calling for a reservation, we were assured the site assigned "never had a problem" with satellite reception. It just did, and no wonder with most sites surrounded by very tall big-limbed trees. (Why do so many campgrounds play dumb or dismiss many customers' preference for satellite reception over most often spotty or no cable service?).

Oh, the place was fine otherwise. But mostly sandy and, mixed with rain, guess what? The location is very quiet being a couple miles off the interstate. We camped at Rivers Edge RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Mesquite Oasis RV Park, Odessa, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

For the vacationer, this is a basic, overnight-stay campground. The majority of guests seem to be long term, but all their rigs appear well kept. The campground has long pull throughs, but the gravel and dirt site we were on was uneven. Electric and water pressure were okay, but the WiFi became very slow when, presumably, folks came home from work and got on line. The staff is friendly and helpful. One drawback for RVers stopping for the night is that the campground is 5 or 6 miles off I-20, and not through the best parts of Odessa. Overall, sufficient, especially for 30 bucks. We camped at Mesquite Oasis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mount Pleasant KOA, Mt. Pleasant, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Super friendly and helpful upon check-in. Apparently under new ownership in the last year and they are trying hard to improve upon a fine campground. Escorted to site, all utilities easy to access and functional. The site and the entire campground seemed spotless. Sure enough we saw a man with a small vehicle getting in and out to pick up a piece of paper or other small pieces of refuse. Good cable service although we got good satellite reception. We would stay here again. We camped at Mount Pleasant KOA in a Motorhome.

Coy Lake Campground , Upper Queensbury, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We probably won't be as glowing as some other reviews since we were promised a long pull though for our motorhome and tow car and got a very tight spot at the entrance to the park which required un-hooking and some maneuvering. Utilities were split. Electric and sewer on one side, water on the other so we fed hose under the bus. Site was not terribly level but my automatic system deals with that nicely. WIFI was strong, but molasses slow, until the kids in the park went to bed. We will say the lady who greeted us could not have been nicer in helping accommodate us and help get us parked. And the campground was quiet at night. Yes, we would stay again, if we could get a better site. We camped at Coy Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherry Blossom RV and Mobile Home Park (formerly Pecan Point RV Park), Dothan, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped for one night. Very friendly and helpful front office. We had called ahead for a satellite-friendly site and they had one for us. On the down side it was in the row right beside the busy and noisy highway. Oh well. But a Big, spacious site with flower garden, picnic table (which we didn't use because it rained) on a long pull through. We would definitely come back. We camped at Cherry Blossom RV and Mobile Home Park (formerly Pecan Point RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Lazydays RV Campground, Seffner, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Because of the adjacent monster Lazy Days RV super dealership, and few other choices in the area, this is a busy campground. But it wasn't built for 40 foot motor-homes or similar length RVS. There are no pull thru sites. They are all short back-ins, with all the tow cars parked perpendicular along the street. Consequently, very hard to back into and thank goodness for people moving their cars and helping direct you. I kept thinking of the sweet old lady who checked me in who may never have ridden in a big motorhome, probably never drove one and almost certainly never backed into shoebox space. Next time, I'll keep going east on I-4. We camped at Lazydays RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Agricenter International RV Park, Memphis, Tennessee

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a campground in a great location that could use some TLC. There are lots of long term residents but mostly away from the short term and itinerant campers. All hookup facilities work fine. But there appears to be no concern by the management to spruce up the rather seedy-looking nature of the place. Nevertheless, we always stay here because it is close to relatives in the area. And we have been treated well and never had any problems. There appear to be bathrooms attached to the Agricenter bldg, but no other amenities. We camped at Agricenter International RV Park in a Motorhome.

Triple C's Campground & RV Park (Formerly Chattahoochee/Tallahassee W', Chattahoochee, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived just before dusk and, as promised, the hosts were waiting for us. Extremely friendly and helpful. We were guided to our site. The site was not as level as it could have been but we were able to adjust. Although the campground is heavily treed, the host knew just the right spot for our satellite dish to peek through and find a good signal. Appears to be a clean, well-kept campground. We would return. We camped at Triple C's Campground & RV Park (Formerly Chattahoochee/Tallahassee W' in a Motorhome.

Almost all sites are pull throughs so it is convenient for those just looking to stop one night, as we did. Pheasant Ridge RV Resort, Wilsonville, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This highly rated campground loses some of it's luster if you are assigned one of the many sites in the hilly sections. You camp sideways on terraced lots. Stepping one or two steps out the motor home door has you sliding down the slope into the next camper. There is no space on either side of the motor home to put out a chair. After the tow car there is no room for a visitor to pull in and the pavement is heavily signed with dire warnings about parking on the streets. The staff was efficient enough. But when I inquired whether they had a street map of Portland, I got a quizzical look and the offering of a Wilsonville map. (Like, why would you want to see Portland?) There is no question this is a very clean and well maintained campground. But I wouldn't came there again unless we got a site outside of the mountain goat sections. And I already had appropriate maps. We camped at Pheasant Ridge RV Resort in a Motorhome.
