Watoga State Park, Marlinton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

At one time, many years ago, Watoga used to be a beautiful campground. It is now run down and out of date. It was a huge disappointment to us. However, the store there is wonderful. It has a great restaurant and rentals for fun on the river. The area is gorgeous. The people who own it are super. We camped at Watoga State Park in a Tent.

Holly River State Park, Hacker Valley, West Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

I'm (possibly unfairly) giving this campground a poor rating for one reason....it was absolute hell to get to it! They should have specific information on their site NOT to follow your GPS OR AAA directions!! We followed both and ended up in deep woods with mud roads, creeks, rocks, etc. for nearly two hours! Tore up my muffler and had to have it replaced. I simply cannot describe how horrible it was getting to the campground. The staff was wonderful at the campground and the ranger told us that MANY people have made that mistake and some have even gotten stuck out there!! We were TOTALLY exhausted and ended up sleeping in the car and leaving the next morning. MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU HAVE PROPER DIRECTIONS TO THE CAMPGROUND!!!!!!!!!! There actually is a good way to get there. We camped at Holly River State Park in a Tent.

Pipestem RV Park & Campground, Pipestem, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

NOT to be confused with "Pipestem Resort & Campground". This campground is located outside of the Pipestem Campgrounds. It has sites for RVs and tents and also has three small cabins. We stayed in one of the cabins. It had a full-size bed and bunk beds. Nice front porch, firepit, picnic table, gas grill, water. We loved it! There is a bathroom with one shower near the cabins. There is a nice store at the front of the campground that also houses a nice bathroom with several showers, which was very clean. We've never known nicer people running a campground! Sooooooooooo helpful too!! Pipestem is so close and you can go there to swim and shop and eat. A nice restaurant is just down the road from the campground too. We camped at Pipestem RV Park & Campground in a Cabin.

Cedar Creek State Park, Glenville, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

My grandsons and I camped in tents at Cedar Creek last year. It is my favorite campground. I love the way the sites are set up - alternating sites on each side of the road. Because of this, you have plenty of room and do not feel cramped by other campers at all. I love the creek that runs through the campground and the sound of it at night. My grandsons loved the pool. Everything was very clean and I have no negative comments to make at all. BTW, we had heavy rainstorms while there, but still managed to have a great time! We camped at Cedar Creek State Park in a Tent.

I have tent camped at Riffle Run several times....just me and my two dogs. I have always felt safe. The lake is beautiful there. Stores are conveniently located a short distance from the campgrounds.
