Twin Dikes Park Campground, Brookeland, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $14.00

Another beautiful COE park. There was a bald eagle greeting us as we arrived. Roads are excellent. We had one of the few sites with a sewer. We camped at Twin Dikes Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Sandy Creek COE, Jasper, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was on the lake shore. Huge, beautiful trees, herons, egrets, deer and an occasional squirrel. The park is quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Roads are very good and you will have no trouble getting to your site. We camped at Sandy Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Cypress Black Bayou, Benton, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

A great place to stay! The leaves were falling while we were there, but the grounds are beautiful. The sites are well spaced out, but a little bumpy. We did not need to do any leveling, but the utilities on our site were on the curb side of the RV. Not a problem as there was plenty of room to move around and get close enough. There are deer, egrets and plenty of squirrels. The squirrels are a little shy, however. We saw why when a hawk cross the road in front of us carrying a black squirrel for dinner. There is also a small zoo that we spent a couple of hours visiting. We camped at Cypress Black Bayou in a Motorhome.

Jennings Ferry Campground COE, Eutaw, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We had a back in site right on the river. The park is beautiful, well maintained and quiet. Staff extremely helpful. There was a 30 amp outlet, but only 50 amp available. We used an adapter. Dump station is very clean and well maintained. There were herons and great egrets, but the major attraction is the grey squirrels. We will go here again when in the area. We camped at Jennings Ferry Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Chester Frost Park, Hixson, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for four days. This is a beautiful park. The first morning we saw a hawk on the fence across the road, a heron on the shore and squirrels everywhere. Our site was parallel to the road with plenty of space. The roads are narrow, but mostly one way. We camped at Chester Frost Park in a Motorhome.

Kendall COE, Jamestown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Another beautiful COE park. Sites are very large, wildlife is abundant, area is very quiet. With the start of fall, the leaves are falling and the park workers were blowing leaves every morning. Tho only down side is the trash collection points. They are locked sheds to the raccoons out, but there are no containers inside. You just put bagged trash on the floor. Interior roads are well paved, but only one lane wide. We camped at Kendall COE in a Motorhome.

A beautiful COE park! We had a site right on the river with plenty of room. A volunteer camp host came by and gave us information about the area. We stayed here while visiting Mammoth Cave. It is also close to Bowling Green for groceries. We camped at Tailwater COE in a Motorhome.

Camp Robinson RV Park (Military FamCamp), Camp Robinson Army Post, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We were unable to stay here because our reservation was no honored. We had requested a pull through site for our 33ft motorhome. When we arrived, the pull through sites were all full including one with just a pick up parked in it. They offered us a back in site, but there were none that would fit a motor home of our size and none that would even safely hold a smaller unit. The three open sites were crumbling and falling down the slope of the hill. We camped at Camp Robinson RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Nothing fancy, just a place to stay overnight. A little highway noise. Our Garmin GPS could not find the park. The owner came and got us from a nearby gas station. Trees are planted, but not yet big enough for shade. We camped at Forest Country RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hanks Creek COE, Huntington, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a week in June. The weekdays were good. There is a lot of wildlife to photograph. There weekend was bad. We saw multiple incidents where people were attacking nesting birds. The showers have not been maintained and the fans do not work making it nearly impossible to use them. There was plenty of parking space at our site for our toad. We camped at Hanks Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Magnolia Ridge COE, Woodville, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed a week near the last boat launch site. It was quiet. A few folks came and went while we were there with no bother at all. There are alligators and we noticed that a group of kayakers carried a rifle. Lots of birds to see and hear. COE volunteers and contractors were friendly and kept the park looking very nice. We camped at Magnolia Ridge COE in a Motorhome.

Maple Ridge Campground (formerly Beaver Ridge Family Camping), Lakeville, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

New owners have really cleaned up this park. The E&W sites are all grass with some trees. The park is old and the sewer system is very limited. In talking with the owner, there are plans to expand it. Friday evenings there is a large campfire and sometimes s'mores. Owners are very friendly. The store is open a few hours each day. We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Maple Ridge Campground (formerly Beaver Ridge Family Camping) in a Motorhome.

North Sterling State Park, Sterling, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

YOUR GPS WILL TAKE YOU ON STRANGE PATHS TO GET TO THE PARK . Take main street through Sterling to 7th AVE (NOT 7th ST). Go north on 7th Ave to CR 46. Turn left on CR 46 and watch for signs.

The reservation system is not good. You must make reservations three days ahead or stay one day at a time. Locals make lots of reservations and never show up. Most of the campground we used had reservations starting on Thursday through the weekend. There were less than twenty sites occupied when we left on Saturday morning.

Other than those two things, everything else was very good. Wild turkeys, small black ferret like animals, prairie dogs, large white water birds we have yet to identify, beautiful sunsets and cool nights. We camped at North Sterling State Park in a Motorhome.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are very close, and very unlevel. Never the less, we had good neighbors and so were able to make do for two days. Staff was friendly and helpful. Take bottled water. They have full hookups, but with as many people in and out as they have, there is a good possibility that the water is not too good.

We will not stay there again. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Motorhome.

Shady Grove Campground, Seibert, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent little campground in very quiet town. It is not modern, but it is very comfortable. You will be on grass on a level site, with full hook ups including cable TV. The owners are there to help you get set up or resolve any problems if any arise. Seibert has a population of about 250 and it has a small grocery store. There is a hardware store, and excellent mechanical shop and a larger grocery store in Flagler, just ten down the road. You will will enjoy you stay here. We camped at Shady Grove Campground in a Motorhome.
