Atlanta Marietta Campground, Marietta, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We made an overnight stop here on our way to Indiana. This park is conveniently located north of Atlanta in the Marietta/Kennesaw area. Lots of shopping/restaurants nearby. It is an older park that could use some updates - the asphalt park roads are pretty cracked and uneven in areas from the trees, and the buildings are showing their age some. I will say they have a nice, air conditioned bathroom setup with two toilet and shower combination rooms - shower suites - which are kept pretty clean. The showers have a "rainfall" shower head in an extra large, tiled shower area. The shower suites are located in the same air conditioned building as the laundromat, next to the office. Our site was slightly sloping to the front, as the whole park is situated in a hilly area. Even though the sites are rather close together, it was pretty easy to get in and out of our site. It was a good overnight stop, overall. We camped at Atlanta Marietta Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Eastbank COE, Bainbridge, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We came for an overnighter on the Fourth of July; friends of ours had been raving about this campground to us, so we decided to check it out. Very nice layout of the park, with several sites right down by the water. The park ranger was very helpful and recommended one of the pullthrough sites down by the lake. There are three loops, two on the water and one above; the park loops are on two separate levels requiring a climb of two moderately steep hills to get out of the park. Bathrooms were very well maintained although there is no a/c and there is a sign asking not to run the exhaust fan during May Fly season - May through September. We camped at Eastbank COE in a Travel Trailer.

Bring ant repellant for your rig and your vehicles. Another camper recommended Ajax sprinkled around any part of your rig/vehicle touching the ground. There are also May flies and biting flies so be prepared. There is a nearby Piggly Wiggly and Dollar General but no Walmart.

Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA, Corbin, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here the weekend before Fourth of July and other than the brutal heat at the time, really enjoyed it. The campground is well kept; looks like new gravel laid throughout the interior roads and sites. The RV park is not far off of the interstate, but feels like you are up in the mountains in a secluded area. The pool was well occupied while we were there; kids and families enjoying the weekend. Lots of room for tent campers and many varieties of RVs. Our site seemed pretty level, but our RV wheels on the downhill side ended up in the air after using the leveling system. We needed to put lynx levelers under the jacks because the leveling system kept showing a fault due to the angle. The laundry room has four washers and two dryers, and last washer load must be started by 8 p.m., as they lock the laundry room door at that time. Site hook ups are grouped together between two adjoining sites, so you are close to one neighbor, but much more room on the other side. Some sites had cement patios and were very spacious. We walked around some and noticed a few resident campers; their rigs and sites were well maintained so they didn't stick out from the rest. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Forsyth KOA, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Good: interior roads were all recently repaved; park is easy access to and from the highway; a pizza place with a good selection of food options will deliver to your campsite if you don't want to cook/go out to eat. The Bad: the park is situated on a multilevel hilly area, making navigation with your rig a little tight in areas; sites are partially paved and/or gravel, semi level; there is no drainage system at all in the campground, so you can see the washout areas in the ground, some going right through the campsites. The Ugly: there are several longterm residents in the park, some in rigs in extreme disrepair, not very appealing to see while you traverse the park; the bathroom that we used is connected to the children's playground is very outdated, smelly, and the ladies bathroom door is so dilapidated it won't close properly, not so much dirty as in much need of repair. This place is adequate if you are just looking for a stopover. We camped at Forsyth KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Travelers Campground, Alachua, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We had decided to stop ahead of our planned overnight stop on our way to the Florida Panhandle from Central Florida; saw a sign for this campground and decided on a whim to see if they could take us. It was 5 p.m. Sunday on President's Day weekend, so the campground managers scrambled to see if they could find us a spot. We ended up in one of their overflow sites at the bottom of the hill. One of the workers guided us through the well manicured campground, which is situated on a slopey hillside. We didn't realize that even though we were at the bottom of the hill, the ground was still on enough of a slope that we needed a three stack of linx levellers to get the Levelling system to operate properly. All of the inner campgrounds roads were paved, with large, open spaces between site sections. The campground is parallel to I75, but the highway noise was not that noticeable at our site. Friendly Snowbirds and some longtermers, but mostly of the rigs were nicely kept. We camped at Travelers Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is parallel to highway 75, so April BLVD is the first left hand turn you can make if travelling North. We went to a Latin Cafe a short distance from the park; Mi Apa. The waitress was very helpful in describing the different menu choices, as we weren't that familiar with Latin food.

Bayhead Mobile Home Park, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We were trying to find a discounted RV campground in Tallahassee, as the prices are quite high - around $40. Happened to call Bayhead, and they were offering the Passport America discount, even though they are not listed on the PA website anymore. The park interior roads are paved but a little narrow, but we were able to maneuver fine..the site itself was pretty level, although it had a broken cement pad at the front and the rest was packed dirt. The manager was also nice enough to leave the clubhouse door open so that we could use the restrooms and showers. We camped at Bayhead Mobile Home Park in a Travel Trailer.

Braunig Lake RV Resort, Elmendorf, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here while visiting friends in San Antonio. There are several friendly full timers at the park. The restrooms are two private shower / bathroom areas that are very nice. New washers and dryers were just installed in the laundry room a couple of months ago; they offer credit / debit payment instead of coin. Nice Speed Queen top loaders, dryers, along with one medium size front loader washer and dryer. If you stay over the weekend, the park offers a very reasonable Friday and Monday night dinner, and a Saturday and Sunday breakfast. We camped at Braunig Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Montgomery South RV Park, Hope Hull, Alabama

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park, right off of the interstate. We wanted a nice site, with room to walk our dogs, and nice bathrooms. This fit the bill. No frills, but clean and roomy. Owner walked us to our site and thanked us for staying with them. Owner gave us a heads up to have a pressure regulator for the hose, as their water pressure is quite high. You feel like you are in the country, but you you can see the Interstate, negligible freeway noise, though. We camped at Montgomery South RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Delta Village RV Park, Leland, Mississippi

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Where do I begin? We were trying to get home to central Florida after getting stuck in San Antonio by Hurricane Harvey. We were looking for something in the Greenville, MS area that was near a highway, and at least a half way decent park. There are several State parks that had excellent ratings, but too far off the path or in the wrong direction for us. I called up this Park because their website does mention that they have Rv sites along with mobile homes. Since Florida is snowbird country, we have quite a few of those types of parks, so we kind of went there with a preconceived notion of what to expect. Boy, were we wrong! First, I would have to go count, but I don't think there are 15 sites in here, and even if there were, only two of them were available. I would say at least 75 percent of them are filled with long term renters. The RV parking is a row of back in sites on a dead end Street behind the office. I think the only reason the site we chose was available was because others could not maneuver around the electric pole that was at the edge of the "Road", kitty corner from the site. I think the office person lied to me about bathrooms being available because we couldn't locate any. The asphalt in the other available was all torn up and crumbling, so that left us with the site we chose. It was paved but not very well. We camped at Delta Village RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Texarkana RV Park & Event Center, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this Rv Park! Very well laid out; the bathrooms are extremely well designed with the shower and toilet area in individual, air conditioned, hotel like private rooms. Staff is very friendly along with the people staying there. They also have a fenced play area for your dogs. The park is near I30 interstate but with the large trees and privacy fencing, you don't even realize it, other than some traffic noise you hear only when outside. There is even a swimming pool at the front of the park, behind the park office. Laundry and game room are in one building, bathrooms and clubhouse in building right next door. We camped at Texarkana RV Park & Event Center in a Travel Trailer.

Hidden Lake Safari Ranch and RV Park, Jacksboro, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very unusual Park, as it is also a 20 acre wildlife sanctuary with deer, and a donkey, ambling around the park - not sure if ticks are a problem in this area. The animals are accustomed to people, but I don't know if they want you to feed them. There were ant hills near our trailer, but we only stayed one day so they didn't bother us. Watch out for the mosquitoes. There are other wildlife, such as antelope that are behind an eight foot fence and you can pay an extra discounted fee for a safari tour if you are staying there. As the name implies there is a lake on the property, and you are allowed to fish free of charge when a guest. The sites were relatively level, all back in. Pedestals are at the rear of sites. The access to the park is a gravel road from the highway, less than a mile, but quite dusty. There is a laundry room with an advertised "full bathroom", but the door was locked on both of our attempts. Manager lives in the house at the entry to the park, but not available 24/7. We had considered staying at another nearby campground, and when we mentioned this and then ask for their rate we were told $20. The posted rate is $35 a day - I think she just gave us a price match for the other park. Park is very relaxed concept; no site numbers, no park map, gate is open 24/7. We camped at Hidden Lake Safari Ranch and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kamper Kompanion RV Park, Litchfield, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Kamper Kompanion RV Park is a small (less than 30 sites), well maintained park a short distance from highway 55, with both 30 and 50 amp sites. Most of the sites form a circle around the Center pavilion. There are a few longterm campers, but their rigs are newer or clean. Most of the sites can accommodate big rigs - we saw several 40+ foot rigs in the park the night we stayed. The park owner / manager, is always out and about, making sure things are taken care of around the park and camper's needs are met. Very friendly place The owner graciously invited us to their Saturday night potluck and karaoke, even though we came in around 7 that night. She told us not to bother bringing anything, just come eat and join the party. We definitely would recommend this cute park while travelling through Southwestern Illinois. We came here on Father's Day weekend. It was busy, but there were still several sites available in our section. This campground is very unique in that there are two separate campgrounds on either side of the main road, one side seemed to be more "rustic" than the other. The park is big enough that you can bring your own golf cart, or rent one from the park - price depends on the day of the week and/or holidays. Poor Farmer's RV Sales, Service & Campground, Fletcher, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park is only a few miles from the highway, but as stated you feel like you are out in the country. There are back-in sites around the edges of the large, grassy well mowed campground with a curved slightly sloping layout. There is a section of pull-through sites that are laid out on slight slope. The sites are well kept, but full hookups are only available on a small number of sites. The positive side was the bathrooms are air conditioned, almost too cold in fact, but they needed the floor painted and spruced up. Hubby said his shower floor was bare concrete, not spic and span but the toilets and sink were clean. This was a nice one night stop on our way home.
