Okaw Valley Kampground, Brownstown, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Site big enough for 38 ft. 5th wheel and tow. Some shade. Couldn't get satellite due to trees. No over the air stations and no cable. Good for stop over. Nice lake to walk around. Sites close together. Lots of dust when big motor homes go through due to exhaust hitting gravel roads. We camped at Okaw Valley Kampground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hickory Hollow Campground (closed), Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park for a stop over on your way. Some big open sites in back. Wifi good. No cable and trees in way where I was for satellite. Limited over the air TV. Pull through was big enough and level. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground (closed) in a Fifth Wheel.

Stoney Creek RV Resort, Osseo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here a hear ago and gave it high ratings. Now, on a summer weekend, it was not pleasant. They let too many people on a site - some had 2 large tents plus an RV and several cars and what looked like several families. Made the park way too crowded and loud. They seem to not enforce their own quiet hour rules. We will not come again on a weekend. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Chippewa Campground, Hayward, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Huge pull through site but had lots of wild vegetation on both sides full of poison ivy. Mostly dirt. No cable, minimal over the air TV channels, paid wifi that is almost worthless. Many sites seem cramped. People speed through paved roads. If you want to fish or boat this place would be nice. We were disappointed. We camped at Lake Chippewa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Frontier Bar & Campgrounds, Saxon, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park cost us $45 less a night than a previous one and has better sites without all the glitz. Our site was spacious, good utilities and good wifi! We found it a good value. Park is quiet. Don't let the bar part of the name turn you away, although it might be a plus to some. It doesn't intrude on the park. We camped at Frontier Bar & Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Milton/Madison SE KOA (formerly Hidden Valley RV Resort & Campground), Milton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before it became a KOA. Only thing different is much higher rates. Our premium site was excellent - plenty long and paved. Entire park is well landscaped. Service in office is slow - not enough people working so long lines. They messed up a food order for us. A park at this price should have cable. Wifi was unusable. Roads are dusty and workers speed around in their carts, raising dust. Large rate increases on weekends. Park way over priced un less you need all the amenities for kids. We camped at Milton/Madison SE KOA (formerly Hidden Valley RV Resort & Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Summersville Lake Retreat, Mt. Nebo, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a unique park because of the lighthouse. The park is very nice with lots of green, open space. The staff is very helpful. Lots of room to walk. We enjoyed our stay here very much. No cable, wifi is o.k. but you can get over-the-air TV and there is a good Verizon signal. Only draw back is no laundry. We camped at Summersville Lake Retreat in a Fifth Wheel.

Shenango Valley RV Park, Transfer, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This park was packed when we were here on a weekend. Most sites are seasonal but they are for the most part neat. Our site was a pull through, plenty long and all level concrete. Roads are curvy, hilly and tight. Biggest drawback are many golf carts. Roads are too narrow for them running around along with people walking and vehicles coming and going. I can see need for them if someone is disabled, but most could benefit from the walking. Only one wifi pass per unit. Cable and other utilities work well. Lots of shade in most sites. We camped at Shenango Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Trout Run Camp Resort, Wellsville, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are large with lots of open space partly because most were empty. I can't call this park a "resort." Nobody was in office when we came. Seasonal residents said they hadn't seen owner in 2 weeks. Maintenance person had to try to find out where our site was. Then he had to cut down some limbs so we could get trailer in and out. It was supposed to be a pull through but placement of utilities was very strange. Were lots of concrete slabs that looked like they had been unused for some time. We didn't have a slab. Entire park looked seedy to me. We won't go back. No wifi or cable. Lots of speed bumps throughout which were hard to see, so lots of bumping of trailer. We camped at Trout Run Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone, Verona, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Well thought out park where you are not crammed in so close to your neighbor. Roads and sites are paved. Good wifi and cable as well as other utilities. perimeter roads keep traffic from being right next to your site which is in a "neighborhood." Lots of ponds, good playground and open spaces. One of the nicest on this 4000 mile trip. We camped at The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain Lake Campground, Lancaster, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Roads are in bad shape - narrow, curvy, bumpy and dusty. We made a reservation in February for a pull through, to find that we were given a back in site. It was too tight for our 38 ft. 5th wheel. Map on web site appears to show water view sites in some places, where in fact there is so much vegetation growth you can't see it. Bring bug repellent - mosquitoes are plentiful. We were disappointed in park. Wifi weak where we were. Cable good. We camped at Mountain Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

My Brother's Place Campground, Houlton, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice long grass pull through sites. Lots of green areas including trails in woods. No cable, wifi poor, slow Verizon data, difficult getting Dish. Park was quiet, although not many were there. Pleasant owners. Bring your bug spray as the mosquitoes are pentiful. We camped at My Brother's Place Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
