Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground), Kennebunkport, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This all-new campground is an absolute gem! Don't miss it. New owner put $5.5 million into the renewal, according to Boston Globe, and it shows. Everything is new, just one month old today. RV sites are newly graveled. All new electrical, cable, water, mulch between sites. New baths that are different, unisex, but each is a self-contained full bathroom, not the usual stalls lined up in a row. Free showering. Heated, salt water pool. One mile walk/bike to the sandy, beautiful Goose Rocks Beach. Some wifi problems when we arrived but believe they were fixed the day before we left because wifi the morning we left was fast and stable. Staff friendly and helpful. Not far from the shops etc in Kennebunk/port and only a mile or so to Cape Porpoise. Firewood was very dry and reasonably priced. Sites may seem a bit pricey but they are on a par with others in the southern Maine coastal region (I checked). Stay here now before it gets discovered. We camped at Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground) in a Motorhome.

Brattleboro North KOA, Brattleboro, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

A gem, really a gem of a campground. Clean, quiet, grassy. A right sized campground. Sites amply sized. CG clean, facilities clean. Staff helpful and cheerful. Most sites pull thru. Firewood that's actually dry. Would we stay here again? Yes! You wish all CGs would be this great. We camped at Brattleboro North KOA in a Motorhome.

Champlain Adult Campground, Grand Isle, Vermont

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Our new, #1, favorite campground! We stayed twice in the 2015 season, and each time it was a joy. Campground is all grass; you can walk barefoot anywhere. Sites are spacious. On shore of Lake Champlain with a swimming area. West-facing stone pier perfect for viewing sunsets over lake and Adirondacks. In an apple orchard, meticulous landscaping flower beds. Owner engagingly friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a resort campground, this is not it. CAC is a lovely, pastoral campground where you can relax, read, bike, kayak, swim, watch the ferries without distraction. We'll return next season, more than once. We camped at Champlain Adult Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Biking on the country roads is great - few cars, lots of scenery. Take the scenic Bike Ferry to go from South Hero to Burlington, about 14 miles along the water.

Mount Pocono Campground, Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed twice in the 2015 season. What a gem! While the sites in the Hemlock Hollow may be a bit close, they are wonderfully landscaped - gravel but with a grassy patch in each site for the picnic table. Never felt like we were jammed in. WiFi reception probably the best, and fastest, we've experienced, almost as good as home. And cable TV was clear, not grainy. Owners and staff friendly, helpful, accommodating. Would definitely stay here again, even if it meant going a bit out of our way. We camped at Mount Pocono Campground in a Motorhome.
