Sandy Riverfront RV Resort, Troutdale, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Like the other reviews have noted this park is clean and well organized. I didn't use the wifi because the park was full and my Verizon signal was good enough to stream video/movies. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, giving us several good pointers about the area. It is a good hub for Portland, the Columbia River Gorge and the town of Troutdale is a very easy walk. We will be here for five nights. Highway noise is present but really not an issue but what is is the nearby trains. The engines are quiet but they constantly blow their horns at the crossings and when going over the bridge and they sound like they are right in the park with you. When trying to sleep it's a problem, like three trains overnight starting around 2AM and loudly sounding horns. I think we have the best site in the park, #181. Shady most of the day. We camped at Sandy Riverfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The General Store has a nice lunch and good coffee. Most of the shops are either gifty stuff or antiques of some kind.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a real nice find for those who are traveling and need a nice clean place to overnight. The gravel site was level-ish and shaded, water tasted fine but they used to mine lead in the area back in the day (1700's) so who knows what might be in it ( I don't). We used it for showers with no problems. The road/hiway is close but not an issue for sleeping. The park is surrounded by sheep pastures and is very pastoral. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on the beach side two nights and it is a quiet and peaceful park. The beach is calm but there are signs warning no swimming. Site was close to the crossing and roomy. There is a dump station located on the road out that is easy to get in and out of. I would stay here again. We camped at Fort Clinch State Park in a Motorhome.

Wild Duck Campground & RV Park (Adult Only), Scarborough, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely heavily wooded park just on the edge of a tidal marsh. Lots of seasonal campers with big rigs and some sites are really, really tight but do-able. Turns are tight too, but big rigs do go in and out. Nice people and a great spot. We camped at Wild Duck Campground & RV Park (Adult Only) in a Motorhome.

Twilight on the Erie RV park, Macedon, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The other reviews are correct about how new and nice this place will be "someday" but in my opinion not now. We stayed here for an overnight and the park was nearly empty. The reason became clear fairly soon: trains. Lots of them and they are close by with horns blasting at least one an hour sometimes more ALL NIGHT! It gets better! Early morning an hour before sunrise the gunfire starts. Lots of it - automatic weapons, rifle shots, shotguns and it is close. Real close. We cleaned up and left before some nut put a dozen holes in us and our rig. We camped at Twilight on the Erie RV park in a Motorhome.
