Van Mall RV Park, Vancouver, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is more of a long-term park, than an RV park. It appeared that many RVs were permanent residences. It is a very cramped park. We felt that we were really in an RV parking lot. We did appreciate the location as it is close to shopping, restaurants and travel routes. "Free WiFi" really means no WiFi. The people in the office know that's a problem but make no effort to fix it. Since WiFi is essential to us as we travel, we would give this one a miss in future. The standard pad is level cement but it is a challenge to park. There are some 'premium' pads near the office. We camped at Van Mall RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Don't miss the buffet at the Casino. We walked over to it and got the shuttle back to the park.

Pear Tree RV Resort, Phoenix, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very helpful and friendly people at the front desk. We really appreciated getting the last spot after a day on the road. The park is tucked in behind a motel and close to the highway. Noise wasn't really a problem. Our site was a convenient pull-through near the pool and the washrooms. Site was a level cement pad with grass around it. Services worked well, including the WiFi. We camped at Pear Tree RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Oasis Palms RV Park, Thermal, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Just one night here, but it's on our list for a repeat for sure! Very nice people to deal with at the front office. Appreciated the lovely shower/washroom facilities. A quiet night despite the highway beside us. We didn't use the pool but it looked inviting. Also, there's a laundry available near the washrooms. We camped at Oasis Palms RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Many old fruit trees around the park property. If you time it right, there's some for the picking!

We learned a tip about keeping ants out of the trailer - Comet, sprinkled around the tires!

Sacramento Shade RV Park, Sacramento, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park proves that a business is only as good as the person in the front office.

We've RV'd from Alaska to Texas and have not, thankfully, received anything near the ignorance and incompetence we encountered here.

My hubby booked ahead over the phone for three nights in this park. We got an email to give us a confirmation number, nothing more - no instructions or directions and certainly no lot/pad number. Arrived at 6:30 PM to discover the office locked. Looked around for any sign of communication for us. (Some sheet with our surname in large print was the least we should expect.) Nada! We phoned the number listed for the office. No response to our message. We picked an empty lot and got ourselves parked with some effort. Hooked up to the power, but no access to washrooms, pool, or WiFi due to no information provided. Went to bed thinking we'd done our best and hadn't disturbed anyone. Hubby walked over to the office just across from us at about 10 AM. He was 'greeted' by the manager who turned bad into worse. After a complete display of idiocy in front of others in the office, he ordered us out of the park "in ten minutes" and began to call the police. We happily took our leave. As yet, we have not had a return of the money. (as of October 26/15)

The owner of this property needs to be aware of this manager's conduct and that his employee stole two nights accommodation from his business when he ordered us out for no cause.

As a traveler, give this one a pass. It's not worth the aggravation to deal with someone like this.

We found this a very cramped park. It was difficult for us to move around inside the park pulling the trailer as lots were so full that vehicles were parked on the streets. Also a contortion to park. It is a very noisy location due to its proximity to the interstate. The entrance into the park is a tight turn and it is on a busy street. We did not get to see any of the facilities that we paid for nor did we get to test out the 'free WiFi' as we were not provided password/access codes. We could see the swimming pool near the entrance but could not make use of it. The lot we found was graveled and level and had a cement pad on one side. There were shade trees around the site. The park is not in the best of neighbourhoods but it is fenced and the park has some street lights. The park appears to be more of a manufactured home park than an RV park. We camped at Sacramento Shade RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to busy, noisy roadways. Parking the RV is a challenge. Parking space for vehicles is also challenging. Cramped overall. Location is handy to shopping etc. Go elsewhere!
