Southern Trails Resort, Unadilla, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second visit to a site that based on the recommendations I should not have visited. If anyone owned this property as a private residence with the pool, & lake, & bordering the horse arena with the rolling hills you would rank this as an amazing home. But as a "campground" some people EXPECT to be entertained and that is not what this location is designed for. It was designed to be a great stop off for people traveling down I-75. It is very convenient. Yes there is some noise during the day from the highway, but unless you want to be in the middle of the forest it is reasonable. The sites are level, most sites are pull through & sufficient for big rigs, the staff is helpful, the pool is very nice & clean & very few people actually use it so you feel like it is just for you. There is only one bath house but it is clean & serviced & honestly I never saw another person in there. So while the campground is large the single bath house is appropriate for the usage. There is a lake for fishing that looks nice but we didn't go really close. There is the normal things you find at almost every campground like putt putt golf & horse shoes which are not being used...but it is really a campground that is a quick stop over so you expect that. They have a large clean clubhouse with great internet especially during the day which is when I need it. Remember, people normally pull out in the morning and come in late in the evenings. The only reason I didn't rank excellent on cleanliness is that the grass needed cutting when we arrived, while there it was cut but it was done around cables & chairs & mats so it looked half done. Because the grass was higher I think the bugs were worse. Also the picnic tables were in desperate need to be replaced. One was even dangerous. A quick fix, get rid of them, they add no value. We stayed 10 days & enjoyed meeting some fellow campers as they came & went, swimming in our "private" pool, & relaxing with great internet when needed. We camped at Southern Trails Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This location even for non club members is only $20 per night. Some one is in the clubhouse until 10pm. In the 50 amp section, all of the sites alternate on the hookups (like companion sites) so when coming in at night watch for that.

MarDon Resort, Othello, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

If you are reading earlier reviews, please note that an entirely new section was just opened sometime in 2017 and it is a game changer. This is a beautiful campground even in the older section. They have thought of everything. We stayed in the new section and were directly facing the lake with an small beach in front of us. The pads were concrete with newly planted grass between. They were close together but not so close that you couldn't use your slides and awnings with room to spare. There is a HUGE grassy area at the end of the row for kids to play and dogs to run. As a fulltimer who shops for clean bargains for campgrounds, this was a splurge for us but well worth it. We were sad we didn't have more days to stay. Staff was over the top, exceptional! We camped at MarDon Resort in a Motorhome.

Make sure to explore all of the roads across the street from the campground. They go back into other lakes etc. Some of them require a Discover Pass, but some did not. Also, make sure to visit the state park just down the road about 5 miles.

O'Sullivan Sportsman Resort, Othello, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park just across from the state park. By my standards, it is not accessible to water by walking which I thought by some of the comments and descriptions and you can't see the water from the park. Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful, but one in particular was not. They weren't rude or mean, but they were acted as if they just didn't care and left us to figure things out on our own. When asked a question, the answer was pretty much, "That's right." with no offer to help resolve. The park is a members only park and C2C members have access and I felt like the attitude was like we were the intruders and not honored guests. Our motorhome likes 50amps, but we often get by on 30amp with no problems...not so at this location. Not sure what was going on but we pretty much had to run our generator to keep the batteries charged and felt more like we were boon docking in that respect. The grounds were well kept with an wonderful playground for children, direct access to a golf course, and a really nice club house. The pool was not open but it was small comparatively to the number of lots. There were many rv's that were set up full time and left in the park for their weekend families. 95% of those were well kept and clean. Because of our discount with C2C we would consider staying here again, but if we had to pay full price, we would choose the state park across the street....it was unbelievable beautiful! We camped at O'Sullivan Sportsman Resort in a Motorhome.

Verizon internet was sketchy within the park. They do have wifi setup throughout the park but in evening around dinner and until about 8pm it is congested.

Glen Ayr RV Park & Motel, Hoodsport, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park with lots of regulars that come and go who are so friendly and gracious. You can tell immediately which ones they are because they are so welcoming and full of great advice. It is just across the street from the hood canal and has one of the best docks I've ever seen. We don't have a boat but we spent a lot of time sitting on the amazing dock and watching others. They has a nice club house, wonderful bathrooms and a great hot tub. There is also a nice gazebo and the regulars have "pot lucks" planned regularly. We didn't get to participate because of our schedule but were invited and felt very welcome. Our lot was a little tight but not so tight that we couldn't open our slides and use our awning and we have a 40 ft coach with 3 slides. Others made comments that they were too narrow but we did not find this to be true. My verizon internet and cell was acceptable. I didn't have full 4g but I was able to work without problems. I don't remember if they had internet or not because I didn't have to use it. The town is just a mile up the road with a great coffee shop, a nice grocery store, and lots of neat shops to explore. It was NOT camping like in a state park, and it was not a high end resort with stamped concrete pads, but it was well maintained with all the requirements needed. 5oamp, water, sewer and we were able to pick up lots of tv stations with just our hd antennae. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars on value is because we don't usually pay that much for a camp site since we are full time. But for the convenience to our family it was worth it. We camped at Glen Ayr RV Park & Motel in a Motorhome.

Dow Creek Resort, Hoodsport, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

I passed going to this campground last year because of the reviews. We were still new to this and I didn't realize the variety of "campgrounds" and honestly how incorrect the terminology is that is used to describe them. This year we decided to go ahead and try it. WE LOVED IT. We have determined our style of camping which is a place with a "camping feel" like a state park (not a parking lot) and with all the primary hook ups like 30amp+ hookups, sewer, and water. We don't have to have internet (I take my own with me) or cable. We were so pleased with this campground because the lots were huge. You felt like you were tucked into the rain forrest. There was great privacy between them and they had cable tv. On top of that they had internet for $10.95 a week and that really help when my air card had just a few bars. The staff was very helpful as well. Bathrooms were older but had been redone and were sparkling clean. The parking surface was dirt but it was hard packed and covered in needles from the trees so really was very clean and better than concrete to us. We will return to this location every year. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Verizon cell signal is best but not great. Others may not pick up at all. Make sure to visit the coffee shop in Hoodsport at the bottom of the hill and Lake Cushman just past the park. Also, follow the walking trail in the park with the signs that say "No RV's" It's a tent camping area only but a beautiful walk with a great stream and bridge.

Thousand Trails Lake Whitney, Whitney, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I read reviews both good and bad before visiting this location. We thought it was really neat with all of the cedar trees and rustic touches. If you are expecting a resort, it is not. You had to choose a site carefully because the cedar trees in some sights were really tight and you couldn't open your slides. The activity areas were more than adequate including the internet at these locations but you had to drive to them. They were not a quick walk away. We used the adult pool, spa, and activity area and enjoyed them. The location borders Lake Whitney which has been closed for a while but their are trails that walk along the banks that are beautiful. The campground was quiet with friendly people and staff. The worst part of the park was the roads. They are pretty bad with lots of pot holes. I was not comfortable riding my bike on them even. 50 amp sites are limited but if you get one they work well. So, was it a resort, NO. Was it a decent campground that I would visit again, YES. We camped at Thousand Trails Lake Whitney in a Motorhome.

This is destination location in that there is not much really close by. There is a grocery store that is just 4 miles away and even a couple RV repair places. It is however within an hour of Dallas and Fort Worth.

Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails, Willis, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I could give this location a 20! Things that were great: staff, bathrooms & showers, pool with new cabanas that had TV's and mini-fridge, cable & Internet throughout park-small fee. Regular TV great, large open green areas, awesome marina & beach, best tennis courts I've ever seen, activities centers, everything is being updated. In section G, which has been redone, level gravel lots, lots of space, fire pits, picnic tables all great. Only two very tiny things: little bumpy on the way in but really not enough to mention and if you want the internet and cable make sure to call the provider and add before 5pm or you can't get it until the next day. We will stay here again and again! We camped at Lake Conroe / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The staff were great to point us to section G which has been redone. The pull-through sites are the old side by side kinds which leave little room if you have slides but people were parking on every other site since it was not full when we were there. They would have been fine under this circumstance.

Chehaw Park Campground, Albany, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We totally love this campground. It really is a hidden gem. We have grandkids that go with us often and you can't find a better place. Great zoo, great playground, lots of places to ride bikes, they even have horse trails, and mountain bike trails. There isn't cable tv but the local channels pick up fine. The wifi is excellent which more than makes up for no cable. I love the setup of the campground. Most sites face into a circle so it is easy to be social if you want to. We love lot #14. We have a 40 foot MH and it is easy to get in and out of plus there is alot of space on the right side to setup. It does not have sewer hook ups on this particular lot but if you are on there for a couple of days it doesn't matter. We dump when we go in and dump when we go out and it's perfect! The only reason I didn't give it all 10's is there is only one shower in the bath house and it is hard to really dry off successfully the way it is setup, but it is as clean as it can be and the staff is awesome. We camped at Chehaw Park Campground in a Motorhome.

The zoo is nice and very affordable. You can walk to it from the site. They have one of the largest playgrounds for kids in the state of GA. We enjoyed the campground so much we never ventured any further.
