Myrtle Beach Travel Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Typical beachfront cg. Sites are fairly close. Their are a lot of permanent " tiny homes" and rental trailers here. We were able to be three spots from the ocean ( walking distance). Many trailers are stored nearby and people have them hauled to and from by the storage people. We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Each site has a roof shelter over the picnic table. Many people wrapped around the entire shelter in plastic sheets to " enclose " the picnic table from the constant wind. Apparently the owners are ok with this.

Colonial Pines Campground at Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center, Toano, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Great, but small 22 spot CG located on a 300 acre Christian Retreat. Through the week there was little activity and we are afforded the use of all of the recreational things they offer. Road to main entrance is a little narrow and "windy" for big rigs. All sites are on a single loop in thick woods; the bath house is in the center. Full hookups, picnic table and a fire ring on a concrete pad. Four sites looked permanent. Firewood was $5 for a wheelbarrow load. Overall a slightly rustic place, but well worth it. We will be back ! We camped at Colonial Pines Campground at Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center in a Travel Trailer.

Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA), Wade, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Nice , clean CG. Just far enough from I-95 that you don't hear the traffic. Huge and long pull through sites. The biggest motor homes could pull in and never have to unhook their toad. Office staff were friendly, pool looked nice but we didn't use it. They have free mini golf but we didn't use it. There are a fair amount of permanent or semi perm sites in the back of the CG. I was a little disappointed in the small pack of firewood they sell, but overall, we would definitely recommend. We camped at Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

American Heritage RV Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Access road is a dead end and a bit tight but with little traffic , it is ok. Checkin went smooth. You have to ask for a fire ring which they deliver to your site. This fire ring was nothing more than an old metal washtub ( really!) Pre-determined fire ring location was RIGHT next to our vehicle so we had to park back. They could do some tree trimming to make navigation/ parking better. We did not use any amenities so cannot describe them. If we go back to W burg, we will stay at the KOA. their sites aren't paved but they aren't jammed so close together. Site was concrete and perfectly level. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Anchor Down RV Resort, Dandridge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We looked at a lot of campgrounds in the Dollywood area and while this was 18 miles away, it was worth it. I have camped in 48 states and all of the provinces and this was the cleanest and nicest. No junky trailers, pop ups or tents. TT or MH. Very, very well landscaped, concrete pads , lots of river gravel instead of the usual mud / dirt. The views were great ! First the lake and than the mountains. And being 4 miles off of the interstate, no traffic noise. Try getting that in the Pigeon Forge area.

Reservation form has the pic of each site so you can see it before you reserve it. And the site is updated fast to reflect what sites are available. The more expensive sites have large and beautiful stone fireplaces ( big!).

Sure , it's on the side of a hill with different levels but overall you cannot go wrong by staying here ! 10++ rating. Don't limit yourself to the Pigeon Forge campgrounds when choosing. In our case, the nice drive was worth it. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

If you arrive after 5 pm and take one of about 15 simple pull through sites, the fee is $30. Still full hookup. Is a good mile off of I -95 , surrounded by woods, mainly gravel sites. Some semi- perm sites but it does look nice.

Facilities were very nice. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Travel Trailer.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We have been camping at WDW since 1996. We have always stayed at FW since it is the only campground on Disney property. You get all of the benefits of being a resort guest.

The campground is very large. Sites are all concrete , very level , well screened from the next site, all paved roads, walking paths / bike trails go all over. We had plenty of room to unhook our 28 ft TT and still park directly in front of the camper without being out in the road.

All sites are on some sort of a loop but we had no trouble getting in or out. There are playgrounds and two trading posts as well as a restaurant.

Boat transportation is avail to go to the Magic Kingdom or to the Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary Resort. Bus rides take a little longer.

Overall this campground is clean and well run. They were very busy at check in. We had three reservations strung together which caused a little confusion over what site we would get. They ended up putting us on a premium site even though we only paid for a full hookup site so we didn't get moved around.

Highly recommend FW , you will not regret it. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't be afraid to drive to some of the parks. Your resort pass gets you in for free. Animal Kingdom is the farthest park and you will get there quicker by driving. The directional signs on property are very well placed to find your way around.

Savannah South KOA, Richmond Hill, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are Close together. Staff is friendly. I was escorted to site. Later they put a large motor home with toad next to me so I could not pull through to leave. He didn't uncouple his toad and even stuck out into the road on a corner site. Come on KOA, think ahead about the exit plans for those of us with trailers. We camped at Savannah South KOA in a Travel Trailer.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Place was full. Sites were nice, staff very friendly. This is not easy to get to and once in the park, you have to wind all over the place. Mosquitoes were bad, couldn't sit outside. Park does have lots of features. We camped at James Island County Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If directions take you down Central Park Rd. Find another route. You end up at a T intersection with a stop sign. The cross road is BUSY and it hard to pull out and go left.

Use either Camp Rd or Maybank Highway to Riverland Drive. Thank me later.
