Mystic Quarry Resort, Canyon Lake, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This place is a great location very near to the Guadalupe River. There were many options for accommodations (RV sites, tent sites, tiny homes, cottages, and tipis). They are not directly on the river, but they work with a local company that will shuttle you to and from the river. They have draft beer available at the office (VERY reasonably priced!!). The staff have clearly put a lot of money and time into making this a top notch resort (they bought in 2016 and revamped the place)! Everyone is very friendly and willing to help with any issues. Our daily rate reflects our monthly rate for staying here. We camped at Mystic Quarry Resort in a Motorhome.

VERY close to the Guadalupe River for floating. Schlitterbahn Waterpark is only about 30 minutes away. Several great dining options are less than a hour away. Two grocery stores are within 15 miles. Movie theater about 15 miles away. Walmart and Target within 20 miles. Buc-ee's Gas Station 13 miles away. Shuttles to nearby Whitewater Amphitheater offered during most music performances.

RV Haven Park, College Station, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here because it is the same park where our son is staying. We were there for just under a month, but the $13/night reflects the breakdown of their monthly rate. The laundry facilities were GREAT! There were 6 washers and 6 dryers, but they all worked very well and were $1.75 each. There was no shade on our site, and little shade throughout the park overall. It is located far enough off the road that you don't have road noise at ALL! Only improvement would be the addition of a pool. We'll likely return when in the area again. We camped at RV Haven Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a GREAT winery and micro-brewery (New Republic Brewery) about 3 miles down the road that is open 5 nights a week (Wed-Sun) with great brews/wines. They have local country musicians perform most nights. One the weekends, they often have food trucks or BBQ for sale on site also. Dogs welcome and a great family friendly atmosphere! Very conveniently located to groceries and other shopping opportunities. Just down the road from Wal-Mart, also.

Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay, Gloucester, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

The $3.00 reflects the cost for 50 Amp service. The sites are first come, first serve, but we did not have a problem finding a nice site to stay in. We enjoyed the Sunday morning breakfast offered, as well as the amenity of a separate adult pool from the family pool. We rented kayaks while here and toured about on an interior lake to the park. The laundry facilities were quite nice here with 7 washers and 8 dryers. Several annuals within the park and golf carts seemed to be the preferred method of transportation throughout the grounds. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chesapeake Bay in a Motorhome.

Yorktown is very nearby and a wonderful town and battlefield to visit! We also visited Fort Eustis while here. Both were within an hour (or less) from the RV Park. Many friendly residents and other visitors to the park.

Outdoor World - Harbor View Campground, Colonial Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This was a very nice park with a beautiful pool (excellent for swimming laps)! The sites we easy to navigate and get into overall. The after-hours park host greeted us shortly after we arrived and was very welcoming and helpful. We will likely stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Outdoor World - Harbor View Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Colonial Beach on the Potomac is just 20 minutes away and a great place to spend some time. It is a quiet little town on the water, not real "touristy" like Virginia Beach or some of the other nearby attractions. We were able to find a mechanic nearby to help out with an issue with our RV brakes. Walmart and several auto parts stores were within an hour of the RV park. Bus Tours to Washington, D.C. from a nearby town (about 30 minutes away) were recommended, but we simply ran out of time.

Williamsburg, Outdoor World , Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We had plenty of room on our site for our RV, and two SUVs without feeling crowded. The turns around the park are somewhat tight, but not too difficult to manage. We had a 50 Amp FHU pull-through site. Only downside was our EMS kept tripping because of power shortages dropping below 104V with everyone drawing on the power so much, common issue in summer months in larger RV parks/campgrounds. We enjoyed the pool area, DJ on Saturday night, snack bar area, and the atmosphere of the overall grounds. We camped at Williamsburg, Outdoor World in a Motorhome.

Jamestowne Settlement is great and nearby. We did not visit Colonial Williamsburg, but it is also nearby. Plenty of grocery store options. We did go to a movie at a lovely dine-in theater that was about 20 minutes away from the RV park.

Lake Gaston Campground, Littleton, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Lake Gaston for 4 nights in a 50 Amp FHU site. The site was tight to get into, and thankfully my husband was skilled enough to get into the tight space. Some of the roads are alright, others are in dire need of repair.

We enjoyed the pool, but were disappointed that the grill area was not open due to construction. We delighted in all the gnomes scattered about the property. Wish the roads were better and there were FHU sites closer to the lake. We camped at Lake Gaston Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherokee Landing, NACO Preserve, Saulsbury, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I was disappointed that there were no FHU sites that were also 50 AMP available. The pool was beautiful and very refreshing. We rode mountain bikes around the facility every day. The laundry room was adequate ($1.50 to wash, $0.50 to dry), although I had to cycle the clothes 3 times in the dryer on high heat before they were fully dry (3 times on medium heat and they were still damp). The roads appear to just be poorly maintained. We did see several people on just water&electric sites that just left their sewer hose open to the ground to drain off their grey water. The "clubhouse" looked functional, but also just a bit neglected. There was no WiFi that we were able to find access to during our stay. The Verizon & AT&T data and cell coverage was functional (4G LTE, and 2-3 bars throughout most of the park). The setting is beautiful and very relaxing. Almost full coverage shade on our site, though it was a bit treacherous and not many sites in that area were easy to achieve mostly level accommodations. We would likely stay here again if in the area. Our site was at no cost because of our Thousand Trails membership. We camped at Cherokee Landing, NACO Preserve in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A nearby town of Bolivar offered a great tire shop with very reasonable prices for RV tires. I shopped at the grocery store and it was very modest and did not offer much by way of variety/selection., fine for most staples. We did not venture into Memphis or any other larger metropolitan areas.

Osage Hills State Park, Pawhuska, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice quiet park. The Verizon and AT&T data was spotty, at best, same can be said for cell phone service (2-3 bars, off and on). The site was mostly level and a good solid concrete pad, no large broken pieces. The rangers were very accommodating to our need to arrive after the normal park hours. We were less than 45 minutes from Pawhuska proper and Bartlesville. The showers were adequate, clean enough, but did appear a bit run down. We did not take advantage of the pool, but heard that it was wonderful (and spring fed!) and cooling! Beautiful lake with available canoes. Several lookouts, but did notice ticks (which kept us from doing any hiking). Convenient dump station with great water pressure on the way out. Good paved roads throughout. We camped at Osage Hills State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Pioneer Woman Mercantile is nearby, but arrive well before you want to be seated for dining as there is a sizable line that forms. We were able to drive through The Drummond Ranch nearby. There is plenty of shopping and dining options in nearby Bartlesville. We needed an RV tire and got one the same day in town.

Wylie Propane & MH/RV Park, Wylie, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Though this park doesn't have laundry or restrooms available, it has been a wonderful place to stay! The staff are very friendly and more than willing to help you out if you need it. There are over 100 sites here, and it seems to be about 50/50 RVs to Manufactured Homes. There is a laundromat less than a mile away, and several grocery stores to choose from. This is located right in the middle of town, but the road noise is not bad at all. There are mostly families living here and everyone has been very friendly and welcoming. There is weekly trash & recycling pickup provided by the city. A pretty quiet place overall. Monthly rent is $375 and electric is metered. There is on-site propane refill available. We camped at Wylie Propane & MH/RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park, Terrell, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for just over 2 months. The only downside was the fact that when it rains, the sites shift significantly (not concrete pads). The owners do a fantastic job at reinvesting in the park and keeping it looking spectacular. Trash is picked up DAILY from your site. Restrooms cleaned every day. Very nice dog park area for those with fur babies. There are multiple park-wide activities that we enjoyed. We would likely stay here again, if in the area. We camped at Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park in a Motorhome.

East Fork COE, Wylie, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 10 days while awaiting the finalization on the sale of our house nearby. The site itself was not too bad, no overgrowth, clean, fairly level. The was the only COE park in the area with 50 amp hookups. The road inside the park is in major disrepair with numerous potholes. There ARE bathroom and shower facilities, but they were not very clean and poorly maintained overall. Only two restroom facilities in the park (of the 7 total) had showers in them, which made most people a fair distance from the showers. Poor lighting in and outside all the bathrooms/showers. We would be hesitant to stay here again in the future. We camped at East Fork COE in a Motorhome.

Hill Country Cottage and RV Resort, New Braunfels, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Decent proximity to Schlitterbahn, our reason for the visit to the area. Convenient pull-through sites with nice concrete patio area beside the site. Spectacular pool facilities. Picnic area with 2 large smokers and FREE oak wood available for smoking. Top notch kids' play areas. Live bands on weekend nights in and near main pool area were a welcome treat. Very quiet atmosphere in the the RV site section of this facility. More of a party atmosphere in the cabin area. Would have rated this a 10 overall, but the rates were a little high for daily stays. We would probably stay here again if we were there with more than just the 2 of us. We camped at Hill Country Cottage and RV Resort in a Motorhome.
