Circle The Wagons RV Park , La Veta, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This Park is certainly the best choice for staying in or near La Veta. The road into the Park is dirt and muddy when it rains. All utility services were properly maintained and in excellent condition. Good water pressure, easy sewer access and rock solid electrical service. That road is lined with an odd collection of houses in varied conditions. Once passed the dirt road entrance the place has a down home feel. All the pads are level and all are gravel to include the inside road. Office staff could not have been more helpful. They treated us like family. There are families that return to this Park every year and for years. That says a lot WiFi is among the best we've had anywhere except at home. OTA TV is limited to none or maybe one. The Office has an extensive collection of movie DVDs that are available on the honor system. If we come back to this area this is the only place we'd stay. We camped at Circle The Wagons RV Park in a Motorhome.

La Veta is a small and almost quaint town with a very nice well stocked grocery store. The town is close to some beautiful national forests and several scenic drives.

Yerby's RV Park, Dumas, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned by others this Park is primarily for long-term RVs. There are a few spots for overnight on a concrete pull through pad. Office staff very friendly and helpful. It's a good place to spend the night when traveling in this area. We had excellent WiFi connections and cell service with Verizon. We camped at Yerby's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mission Tejas State Park, Weches, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

A small CG still recovering from Hurricane Harvey (my guess). The Park has new electrical boxes setup for 30A service. The Park includes a good number of historical buildings and hiking trails. Park staff were especially helpful. This CG is not designed for big rigs or any RV over 30' or so. The roads and campsites are still damaged and in need of repair. There is one (1) new bathroom and I suppose it's nice, but we didn't check it out. We camped at Mission Tejas State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This State Park is remote and did not have wireless service for Verizon. The temporary park office had decent free WiFi if you were within 20 feet of the building. The nearest town of any size is Crockett which has a small, older downtown and a good number of larger historical homes. We'd suggest getting all the supplies for camping before settling in at the Park because Crockett is about 20 miles away.

Nolin Lake State Park, Bee Spring, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

A smaller CG fairly close to Mammoth Cave NP. The grounds are well kept as are the camp sites. Bathroom lacked hot water which is the only negative. We camped at Nolin Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Cadiz, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The Park is well maintained and offers many amenities. As noted above above 1/2 of the camp sites are severely steep and the others will need levelers. All sites share a power pedestal and a water connection and they are 40-50 feet away more or less. Some RVers pulled in forward because the pedestals are on the left of the site for half of them. The Lodge is a gem with an exceptional restaurant. Staff friendly and very helpful. We camped at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in a Motorhome.

Montauk State Park, Salem, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

An older Park that was hit hard in the 2017 floods. It's slowly recovering. The Trout fishing was active and a lot of action. The Park only offers electric service. The area doesn't have Verizon coverage, but decent WiFi in the campground. Very friendly and accommodating staff. In our area, few of the CG rules were enforced to include late night noise and pet lease. We camped at Montauk State Park in a Motorhome.

Mother Neff State Park, Moody, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This SP was completely renovated just over a year ago and the Park is in superior condition. Not only is the Park in great condition, the Park Rangers and Hosts were friendly and especially helpful. It is a quieter SP as compared to some of the large CGs, which is very nice for relaxing and enjoying the quiet. Visitors should know that you can hear distant artillery fire from Fort Hood throughout the day and every once in awhile the testing of rocket engines at another facility. We camped at Mother Neff State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This SP is fairly close to Waco, which offers quite a few tourist kinds of activities, countless choices of restaurants, and shopping. Mother Neff SP has an interesting and quite beautiful hiking trail system and several playgrounds for children. We'd have to say that this SP was clearly the newest that we've have visited and is maintained to a very high standard.

Lake Brownwood State Park, Brownwood, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is quiet State Park with clean campsites. Park employees were very friendly and helpful. We hiked a couple of the trails, which were not well marked, but nevertheless interesting. The Park has an active Park Police Patrol who seemed to keep things in fine order. As mentioned elsewhere, the city of Brownwood is about 20 miles away and offer a nice selection of stores. We enjoyed the Lake Brownwood State Park. We camped at Lake Brownwood State Park in a Motorhome.

Yampa River State Park (Headquarters Campground), Hayden, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground a few miles from Steamboat Spring. Craig, Co. is just a few miles west which has a good many stores for those just passing through. The CG charges $7 per vehicle, which added $14 a night to their $24 per night few. It seems that Colorado does this in all their State Parks, which is annoying at best. CG volunteers and staff were very friendly and helpful. While the CG is on the Yampa River, there is very little access to it unless one intends to launch some kind of boat. Bring bug spray for mosquitos! They chased us inside at night. This might be the best RV camping option in that area. We camped at Yampa River State Park (Headquarters Campground) in a Motorhome.

This campground in the White River National Forest near Dillon, Co. look over Lake Dillon and is surrounded my mountains. It's just beautiful. This is a dry camping area which has water near the entrance, spacious gravel sites with fire ring but there isn't a dump site on the campgrounds. This campground is near Frisco, Dillon, and several other high Rocky Mountain towns that are fun to visit. In fact, it's just a few miles from Vail, Keystone, and other ski towns. The mountains still had snow late in June.
