Amarillo Ranch RV Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean and well kept RV park. We will definitely stay here again. Long pull through site. Decent spacing between campers. Very clean restroom and shower facilities. We did not use the indoor pool, but it did look well maintained. Good AT&T phone and data service. Lots of local TV channels off the antenna. We did not attempt to use the wifi or cable as we were just overnighting. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rio Chama RV Park, Chama, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We love this RV park and have already booked a 2 month stay for 2018. The people are friendly, there are some excellent sites, some others are close together, but all-in-all we just love it. We volunteer to work on the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad throughout the summer and the Rio Chama RV Park is right next to the rail yard. There are lots of railroad volunteers that stay here and lots of other people from Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, and other places that are hot in the summer. We were fine on our 30 Amp site as we seldom had to run the AC. We did trip the circuit breaker a couple of times but figured out how to manage it. Do to our rig size, we will not be able to camp in site 40 any longer which is a real disappointment as it is truly one of the best sites in the park. The 50 Amp sites are nice, but much closer together, and about half without any shade trees. But again, it is not very hot in Chama so it shouldn't be a big deal. Lots of the best spots are reserved by long time customers. People have camped in some of these same spots for over 12 years. They have a new dog park if you are a dog owner. For us this was a draw back as it was fairly close to our site and we were frequently exposed to excessive barking as people went to and from the park. We always enjoy watching the train come and go across the trestle directly behind the RV park. It's the big attraction and it's fun to wave at the passengers. It's even more fun to be a volunteer on the railroad. We camped at Rio Chama RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tucumcari KOA, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Just too close together with alternate parking on the row, meaning your front door opens to your neighbor's front door because you've pulled into the site in opposite directions. A bit pricey for gravel and dirt sites. However, the people were nice, and everything worked. WiFi was just okay. Far enough from I-40 to avoid significant highway noise. It was okay for an overnight. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Well spaced and fairly level camp sites for big rigs requiring full hook ups. All the utilities worked fine. Good water pressure, very good cable TV channel selection. Limited AT&T phone and data service in the area. The restrooms only have toilets and sinks but they were spotless. Shower facilities are at the Mather Campground. The only complaint we have is the location of the trash dump. There was only one and it is near the entrance. Upon exiting the RV park you have to walk a 100 yards back up to the trash containers. The need one container right at the exit. Elk roam the campground and are quite docile. Campers with pets and small children need to keep watch when Elk are around their campsites. We would definitely camp here again. Grand Canyon NP is something to see and the South Rim area is very well done to allow you to see it in comfort with convenience. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Murray State Park / Elephant Rock, Ardmore, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We will definitely return to this campground. We camped in space 30 which is a premium space right next to the lake. Great level concrete pad with plenty of space for our 40ft 5er and tow vehicle. Nearly every space in this campground, including the standard sites have water, electric and sewer, but space 30 has no sewer due to its proximity to the water. I guess the location makes up for the lack of sewer connection and still qualifies as "premium". It is a fantastic campsite. Had good AT&T wireless and data service here along with good TV antenna reception. We got all of the big networks. It's a fairly quick trip back into Ardmore if you need anything. We camped at Lake Murray State Park / Elephant Rock in a Fifth Wheel.

Chickasaw NRA (The Point Campground), Sulphur, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground near Lake of the Arbuckles. There are just a few sites with water and electricity, but the ones that have it are very nice. You cannot see the lake from this campground but it is a very short drive. Nice spacing between campsites and very quiet. We had good AT&T cell and data service here and were able to pick up ABC, NBC, and CW from the antenna. You can't beat this place for the price. Nice long and level asphalt pad. Additional asphalt space for tow vehicle. The road leading into the recreation area is not very wide and has several hard left and right turns to it, but we did fine in a 40 ft 5th wheel. Only real complaint is the low water pressure. We would camp here again. We camped at Chickasaw NRA (The Point Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Great RV park. We will definitely be back. Level and wide concrete sites, great hook ups, Wifi worked well, and everything was first class. AT&T cell and data service worked well too. Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA, Sheridan, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

We overnighted here and probably will find another location the next time we pass through. Too close to I-90 about 150 yards. Reserved a space for 35 ft trailer and 21 ft tow truck only to be given a 45 ft long pull through. We had to change locations and gave up sewer connection to do so. Good thing it was only overnight. Getting in and out of the park requires you to drive nearly every road in the place. Some big trees are close and if folks don't keep their tow vehicles on their sites you might not get past in a few spots. AT&T cell and data worked. The wifi was very iffy. We camped at Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fun Valley Campground, South Fork, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

There are too many people stacked on top of one another for this to be an enjoyable place to camp. I am glad we experienced it late in the year as I can only imagine the masses of kids that must camp here. There are some nice areas in the park and some nice amenities, but this not the way I like to camp. Cell service was hit and miss, forget data service. WiFi only worked at the office and restaurant area but was slow. No antenna or cable TV. Because our campsite backed to one of the fishing ponds we had people walking constantly behind our RV all hours of the day and evening. No respect for the campers on the sites. We left here on the Sunday before Labor Day. The area we were camped in had vehicles stacked two deep down the road in front of our campsite. I had to wait for the guy next to me to leave in order to get out of the campsite. There were so many campfires on Saturday night you almost could not breath. The new owners need to get rid of about 25-30 percent of the sites to create breathing room. They also need to put down some gravel for the uneven campsites. We were completing a 24 day camping trip and this was the most un-level place we stayed. We could not use the fire pit as it was directly under the rear of our trailer. There was a picnic table between me and the next camper, but he didn't have one so not sure who this one belonged to. If it were not for family, I would not have stayed here in the first place. Doubt I will return. We camped at Fun Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

We will be back. This place was beautiful and centrally located for all Black Hills activities. Spacious sites with lots of trees and open meadows full of deer in the evening. We were in the "Island" section which was far removed from the amenities but surrounded by peace and quiet. All the hook ups were fine. Wifi worked pretty well. AT&T cell and data worked. Not able to pick up anything on TV antenna. Nice long level back-in site with plenty of room to set up screen tent and park tow vehicle. Good spacing between rigs. We loved it and will return. Ride the 1880's Train in Hill City SD. Not too expensive and not too long either. Restaurants and wineries in Hill City. Of course you have to see Mt. Rushmore. They have a lighting ceremony at night with a video, and salute to past and present military personnel. Moving experience.

St. Mary / East Glacier KOA, St Mary, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was near the office in Section F. Unfortunately, this was the main drag for the pizza delivery guy and fire wood salesman. In the evening the ATVs loaded with pizza or firewood whizzed by our campsite making a lot of noise and stirring up dust. Thank goodness we did get some rain to help keep the dust down. The sites were close together and didn't offer much shade. We had three small aspens between us and the next RV on one side and nothing on the other. Roads in and out of the park were pretty rough. The WiFi was very seldom accessible. At times you could connect with the wife but could not get to the internet. AT&T cell and data were nonexistent and there is no local TV to acquire on the antenna and no cable. Views of the surrounding mountains were nice, but the campground was anything but pretty. Hooks ups were fine. Because of the location to Going to the Sun Road we would camp here again, but definitely not in Section F an nowhere near the office to avoid the ATV delivery guys. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Wow! This is the best campground I've ever been in. Everything is first class. Great facilities, hookups, lush landscaping, and good staff. Showers and bathrooms as clean as you have at home, or better. We will definitely be back.

My only complaint is the spotty WiFi. It worked well early and very late but not mid morning or early evening. We had good AT&T cell and data service. We only got one TV station off the antenna, but we weren't here to watch TV. The restaurant and ice cream store were wonderful. We camped at West Glacier KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We will stay here again. Okay so there is dust. Would you rather have mud? Come on folks we are camping. I've read the other reviews and think people expect too much from some of these place that are only open during the season. We had a great site. Big enough to set up screen tent and park tow vehicle on the other side of the RV. I will admit the sewer connections are a little weird due to their height. We liked this place enough to try and add three more days to our stay but couldn't because they were full. Restaurant, store, and fuel just across the road from the park. Well within walking distance. We enjoyed this camping experience. We camped at Headwaters Lodge & Cabins at Flagg Ranch (formerly Flagg Ranch Resort) in a Travel Trailer.
