Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is considered a Holiday resort. It is nicely done, clean and fairly spacious for its location. I found the pool very small for this large a campground. And the "hot tub" is able to hold 4-6 people max. There are many things for children to do in this park. We did have an old picnic table with large holes on our site. Our picnic table was very worn out. We received several discount tickets to shows upon arrival. We were not informed that there was a trolley available to us and wish this information was revealed. The traffic to and from Pigeion forge and Gaitlinburg was horrible. We camped at Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Wytheville KOA, Wytheville, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling from WV to Pigeon Forge TN this was a perfect stop over. The park was quiet, and very well kept, as well as spacious. Our lot was level with gravel. It is located 1 mile off I-81 and has a PFJ to gas up less than 1/8 mile away. There is a WalMart also about 3 miles south on 81. The pool was rather small but looked clean. There is a rec hall that serves pizza and wings that are very good. On the down side they have several activities but they are for a fee. Bowling is $5/person and batting cages have a fee They even charged a fee to play miniature golf, which I felt was rather "tacky" . All the arcade games also came with a fee. This may be a problem for some folks. We would stop here again if it was on our route. We traveled in a fifth wheel. We camped at Wytheville KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

If your not going to hook up septic, request to be near bathhouse. We were rather far. A poor choice for senior folks.

Shenandoah Valley Campground, Verona, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a VERY impressive RV park with alot of kid friendly things to do. There is a pond to fish that is with carp, trout, and bass. There is a heated pool. The best part is it is very very friendly, with trees, and a river that runs thru the rv park. And in the middle of the river near the site---a WATERFALL !! There are hot tubs for the adults and a heated (if needed) pool for kids. One of the best parks we have ever visited to RV in. Roads a little narrow to navigate at certain points but doable. We camped at Shenandoah Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Ridge RV Resort, Hillsville, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Although this is a nice park with game room and pool, it was too far off interstate for us. It was well off the beaten path if just looking for a quick on and off type stay. Otherwise it is nice park and they gave the PA discount. Downside is that if you have your own golf cart, you cannot use it. They require you to rent from them. They charge $60/day with two day minimum. Not really fair. They do have a nice game room for kids as well as nice pool that includes tunnel slides. Although it is located in a rolling hill campground, note that getting there requires a steep downgrade at some point. The downgrade is not very long but does require steep "upgrade" going back. We would return again. We camped at Lake Ridge RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA), Wade, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Driving from WV to Florida, this is the perfect stop off !!! Literally immediate on/off access from the interstated. We were there Fathers day weekend. Happy hour (free) for adults on friday, Saturday was a DJ with orderves.(shrimp), and Sunday a beautiful display of fireworks !!! The staff was professional & friendly. A definite stop off come this December when we snowbird. I could not believe how reasonable this place was. We camped at Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Island Retreat RV Park, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This rv park was convenient and a nice scenic drive heading south. The sites were well paved, and our neighbors were very friendly. Showers were clean with no shortage of hot water. One shower area was being repaired at our time of visit. The pool is not heated if snowbirding. Minimal activity in a fair rec room that needs updated. They do offer horseshoes. People do fish but a license is required. All in all worth the money for passing through. We camped at Island Retreat RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Morgan RV Park, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this RV park for a month stay in March/April because the photos shown were nice and it was reasonably priced. On arrival we were disappointed in both the size and condition of this park. Only the water sites were worth paying for and they were not available. There was only fishing and it was very very very quiet. Laundry, although free service was located up steps and not conducive to older folks. No pool, or activities offered. We lost our deposit, but moved to a different RV park. The staff was friendly. We camped at Fort Morgan RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lazy Acres Campground, Fayetteville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

It was almost dark and very very cold. We were outrunning a snowstorm but got settled in for just the night in route south to Florida. Staff was very friendly and escorted us to lot. Cable channels came in clear but you have to leave $20 deposit for the cable selector. That was returned when selector was returned at check out. Only stayed one quick night but would return in summer. We camped at Lazy Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.
