White Spar Campground USFS, Prescott, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great place close in to Prescott. Located in the Prescott National Forest. 10 minutes to the heart of the town yet the campground feels remote inside the forest area. Good place to be situated to explore the surrounding area. Even a day trip to Jerome was doable. The sites are spread out well and paved nicely and ours in 24, was level and private. This is dry camping. The water is off in the winter season. We are having low 70 temps. Pretty awesome for winter. There are several loops but not all open in winter. The website stated only 12 are open but there are many more open. Not crowded at all right now. The price does go up in the summer season when the water is on. Not much though. It is quiet now. I am sure it is busy in the summer. First come first serve. The road to access the park is quiet at night. Virtually no noise since it's a winding, curvey road to Wickenburg. No one bothered our things we left out. One camper even left out an unlocked generator with no issues. We stayed the 14 day limit. There are a few other NFS campgrounds like Lynx Lake but they are closed now. White Spar opened year round. There are nice picnic tables and a fire pit at each site. Pit toilets. Garbage service. The location is ideal for exploring the area. The host on duty while we were here, was pretty much invisible. We camped at White Spar Campground USFS in a Travel Trailer.

Constellation Park, Wickenburg, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed during the Gold Rush Days. Very busy time in Wickenburg. Great location for easy access to the rodeo arena right across the road. The town is 5 to 10 minutes away. We stayed in site 2 for one week. It is quiet at night. When the rodeo was not going, it is fairly quiet during the day. There is a very bright rodeo arena light at night that is bright on the rigs in site 1 and 3. Not too bad, just an FYI. The fee used to be 5 dollars. I feel that is a better bargain since there are no services besides garbage. We paid for the convenience of being close to the rodeo and activities of Gold Rush Days. If it was not gold rush days, we would have stayed for free at Box Wash BLM. We did move there after our 7th night limit at Constellation. If you like being close to services it is the best there is, without going into a pricey crowded RV park. The community center has an RV Dump, but I recommend the Fast Mart 76 station to avoid going downtown. They have potable water. $10.00 fee. Accommodates large rigs at both the park and the dump. We camped at Constellation Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Several eateries and quaint shops.

Two grocery stores. Bashas in town. Safeway West end of town. Post office near Safeway. Dog park near the small airport West of Safeway.

Great Western Museum if you like that sort of thing. Nice town.

Red Canyon Campground (Dixie National Forest) USFS, Panguitch, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful location close to Bryce Canyon. There is a busy highway close but pretty quiet at night. We stayed fairly far back away from the highway. The grounds are very clean. There are hot showers. The scenery is lovely. We camped at Red Canyon Campground (Dixie National Forest) USFS in a Travel Trailer.
