Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Great for overnight or longer if desired. Easy on and off Hwy 58. Long sites so no need to unhook. Nice that the monthly rentals are in one area and short stays in another. Orange trees at every site and they were delicious. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Susanville RV Park, Susanville, California

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park with concrete pads (some cracked) but level and fairly easy to get in and park. We had just enough room with our 40 foot MH, and small tow to pull in and stay connected. Staff was friendly and informative about dinning choices in the area as well as services. Close to Walmart. We originally thought about parking at the Walmart, but it has a very small lot and really not a good area to park out of the way. This RV park was right across the street, and provided a good place for the night. A little expensive for what you get, but it is California, and some of the state RV parks cost as much for less service. We camped at Susanville RV Park in a Motorhome.

Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort, Lajitas, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Staff and everyone is quite friendly here in the park and at the resort. Customer service is important. Nice level sites with fire rings and picnic tables. Full hook-ups. Wifi is slow and cell service depends on your carrier, but it's okay. Pool and clubhouse are beautiful, and laundry room was immaculate. If I were coming to Big Bend again, I would base myself here. You are not far from the western entrance to the park, tours are available from here and you have all the amenities. We had stayed 2 days in the Rio Village, no hook-up site within the park, you will be driving to trails either way, so this park is a much better venue. We camped at Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

When choosing your site, if you have a motorhome, you may want to chose a pull in site that faces the mountains on the outer rim of the park. Take advantage of the resort activities...Zipline, horse back riding and shooting or golf. You must call to get a reservation.

Rio Grande Village Campground--No Hookups (NPS Campground), Big Bend National Park, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

If it is just your desire to stay in the National Park, then this is all right. You get a level spot with a nice picnic table. There is a dump station as well. Arrive early if you need a certain spot or better yet, make reservations. Our rate reflects senior pass discount. There are some nice Campgrounds outside the national park with full hook-ups if you need them, and they are not any further from some of the popular trails. We camped at Rio Grande Village Campground--No Hookups (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely state park. The rate reflects the $20 dollars for camping at an electric/water site. and $6 dollars per person for park fee. There is a selection of sites from primitive/tents have to full hook-ups. Not all sites are equal though, so if you must have full hook-up and drive through, arrive early or make reservations. Those sites fill-up early. The electric/water sites are nice and there is a dump station. Staff is super friendly. I did feel that since we paid a camping fee, the park fee should have been included, but all in all the park is quiet and sites are fine. If you are pulling a tow, unhook at the gate and if you are after hours, drive down in your car first, find your site then come back for your MH. Wifi is marginal and cell service unavailable. We camped at Davis Mountains State Park in a Motorhome.

White's City RV Park, Whites City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Location, location you can say about this campsite. If you are going to Carlsbad Caverns, and especially if you want to hike the cavern and then go back for the bat flight in the evening, then stay here. You are 7 miles from the park entrance. All the hook-ups worked, even the WiFi while we were there. The folks at registration were nice as well. The sites were super close together, literally slide to slide. I looked into the bathrooms and although very old, they appeared clean. We did not use anything else. The next closest RV Park is 30 miles, so for convenience this is the place, but that's about it. We camped at White's City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

When going to see Carlsbad, it is nice if you are able to take one of their guided tours. We saw the King's Palace and the info that was given, was much more thorough than just hiking in and out reading the signs.

Homolovi Ruins State Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A quiet park just off the interstate near Winslow. Electric and water at the sites but dump station is available. Mostly back in but several pull throughs. One note here, the hook-ups for pull throughs are on the opposite side of your rig. You need extension hoses and cords if you cannot pull close. We were not able to pull close due to a tree. Also, water is not on at sites in winter. Showers do have hot water and potable water is available at dump station. Easy on and off from interstate. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.
