Smith Mountain Campground, Penhook, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet campground. At $25 a night, I was very pleased. No real amenities & nothing really to do, but we just wanted a base to get into Roanoke so it worked for that. Sylvia, the owner, was very friendly & open to any suggestions a camper may have. We camped at Smith Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

Creekside Campground, Edinburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Great little cg. Staff was very friendly. I had to have a new cell phone overnighted to me @ the cg & the office delivered it to my site. It was quite w/a creek running right behind our unit. We camped at Creekside Campground in a Motorhome.

Mountain Creek Campground, Gardners, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Loved it. We stayed in the overflow area, so when the other campers left we had a huge area to ourselves. I could see how maybe it could be noisy down in the cg, but it was quite where we were. Lots of activities & amenities were available for any family members. We camped at Mountain Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park, Manheim, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground's rating could vary w/the staff & area of the campground. There were a lot of permanent sites that were really rundown. Also roads on the backside of the CG were in need of work. The front area of the CG was clean & pretty. Most of the staff was friendly & helpful but 1 man left a sour taste in our mouth. He sat outside the laundry room w/a cigar when I tried to do laundry which had my lungs hurting for a couple of days. Also he was walking his dog by our MH when we came in one day. Our dogs got by me b/4 I could get a leash on them & ran to my husband. The man very loudly yelled "All dogs must be on a leash anywhere, no exceptions!" I held up the leashes & said, they're in my hand, they just got by me. He then thundered, Hook them up b/4 you open the door! Kinda hard to do when they were inside & I was outside. I feel he could have come over & spoke more privately w/us & found out the circumstances of the situation. We camped at Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

AA Royal Motel & Campground, North Tonawanda, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Small, clean, campground in an area easily accessible to area attractions. Staff was nice. I think the price was high for no extra amenities but since it's in such a big tourist area most places are high. We camped at AA Royal Motel & Campground in a Motorhome.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We were charged extra for cable, then assigned a spot w/no cable hookup. Had to get our money back for that. Also right beside a service center that had an outdoor paging system in use all day. That being said, it was clean & fulfilled our needs. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Motorhome.

Roundup Lake Campground (formerly Roundup Lake RV Resort), Mantua, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

I should have suspected something when I checked in & the staff was arguing w/other campers. They were then rude to me. This could be a really nice CG but the sites are close, the staff rude, and they need to clean up around the area. We were there 4th of July weekend, so they were full, but I still would not go back. After law enforcement visited the camper for the 3rd time on the morning we left, we were glad to be gone. We camped at Roundup Lake Campground (formerly Roundup Lake RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground (the bathhouse was nicer than my bathroom at home). The manager was very helpful & accommodating. Nice road & sites. My only complaint was lots of red mud, but that couldn't be helped as the ground had just been aerated & seeded right before a big rain. We were also allowed to use the clubhouse which our group enjoyed. Very pet friendly & nice playground for children. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Raccoon Holler Campground, Glendale Springs, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was a clean park. Some sites not very level. Ours dropped off on both sides, so had to make sure we were right in the middle. Also a sewer smell around the site. They charge $2 extra per night if a camper wants to use air conditioning. My main complaint was although we made reservations as a club, we were still scattered around the campground. They also seem to have a real hangup about their paper vehicle passes. It has to be turned in when one leaves. The guy in the golf cart will chase a vehicle down if he doesn't see the placard immediately. I would go back if the club wanted to, but probably wouldn't by myself. We camped at Raccoon Holler Campground in a Motorhome.

Carrollwoods RV Campground, Tabor City, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice campground with friendly people, level, well cared sites, a plenty of room. The main problem I saw was there is really nothing to do. They advertise they're only 20 minutes from the beach, but why not go 20 minutes further down the road & camp at the beach? It was only $2 more. The dog run was laughable, it was so small, but at least they tried. Lots of CG's don't have one. Never did find the winery, just a tasting bar in the office. We camped at Carrollwoods RV Campground in a Motorhome.

4 Paws Kingdom Campground and Dog Retreat, Rutherfordton, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I reviewed this park last year after one visit and gave it a good rating. Unfortunately, 1st impressions aren't always correct. I went back in the spring and the grass needed cutting and the swimming pond was very muddy. I blamed it on spring rains. It's now October and I just returned from the campground. The grass still needs cutting and the pond was horrible. I also found the owners less than pleasant this time. They seem to cater to certain campers at the expense of others, although everyone is charged the same rate. Needless to say I will not be returning. We camped at 4 Paws Kingdom Campground and Dog Retreat in a Motorhome.
