Big Bear Family Campground, Windsor, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We found this park on Allstays and thought we would give it a try even though we could not find reviews. It is well off the beaten path but only about 20 minutes from Smithfield, VA where we were headed to see family. The park is quiet and very clean with plenty of room between the sites. Most of the residents are here long term, but their sites are well kept. There is a playground for the kids and a fishing lake for those interested. They even allowed our puppy to run free near the lake provided we cleaned up after her. We camped at Big Bear Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Dixie Land Music & RV Park, Waldo, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We used this campground because of its proximity to Gainesville Speedway, and it worked well for us. The owner was very acomodating as we took our MH out every morning and went to the track. He made sure we had a spot that we could easily get in and out without disturbing others. Our site was the longest site we have ever had anywhere in the country and could have easily accommodated another MH. We were close to the dog walk area and despite reports to the contrary, we had no trouble with the noise coming from Pilot. It is FL and we did have the A/C running and the windows/doors shut. I thought the price was a little high, but the park is very well maintained, clean, quiet and the snow birds have their own area well to the rear of the transients. Picnic tables would be a nice addition, and I always enjoy a fire ring. Our site took some leveling, but it wasn't too bad. water pressure is on the low side, but it is city water controlled by Waldo so there is not much the owner can do about it. We would definitely stay here again if the need arose. We camped at Dixie Land Music & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is nothing in Waldo to do and no place other than Subway to eat. You will need to go to Starke or bring your own. We did try the Classic Cafe right in front of the campground and it was a disaster. We went to subway for lunch and bought what we needed at the Walmart in Starke.

Mama Bear RV Park, Capitan, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay for three nights. Right in the heart of the small town and within walking distance of everything. Just a short drive to the Lincoln County attractions and Fort Stanton. Initially we were worried about road noise, but it was not a problem as there was practically no traffic after about 9:00. There are a few permanent campers in the park, but their sites are clean and well kept and the residents were friendly, as were the owners. We camped at Mama Bear RV Park in a Motorhome.

Elk Creek RV Park, Elk City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Echoing what others have said with the exception of the bathrooms. Each bathroom contains a toilet, sink and shower which was realy nice, but the one I used was dirty and needed a good deep cleaning. Dead bugs on the floor and no hot water in shower. Office was closed so could not report it. We camped at Elk Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.
