Piper's Glen Campground, Fort Fraser, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

After reading the other reviews, I had some concern that Piper's Glen would be a dud, but I didn't find that to be the case at all. I called for my reservation a few weeks prior to arriving, so I had no problem getting a 30 amp hookup. The view is fantastic, overlooking Fraser Lake. Yes, the TransCanada highway is behind us, but I doubt that it will create any disturbance. Also, the Canadian National Railway is below us, but again, I can't say that is an issue.

This looks to be a rather pleasant campground with a play area for the kids, a place for tent camping, canoes for rent, etc.

I would stay here again. We camped at Piper's Glen Campground in a Motorhome.

Cassiar RV Park, Kitwanga, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

After having driven the Cassiar Highway from the Yukon, it was wonderful to arrive at a RV park that had a car/RV wash. To be truthful, I still had dirt from Alaska on my rig and it was time to get it clean.

This is a very clean private park. The sites are grassy and there are a lot of spruce trees as well. Everything was really clean. We had full hookups, including fairly strong WiFi. While there was no cable connections, or over-the-air TV, there was a fairly extensive DVD library available in the office.

I would stay here again. We camped at Cassiar RV Park in a Motorhome.

Kinaskan Lake Provincial Park, Iskut, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent provincial park. There are plenty of large sites available. My spot was large enough for my 37 foot rig and tow car with plenty of space left over. I was in a spot next to the lake. The interior roads are paved. These guys know how to put together a really nice campground. Of course, being a provincial park, there are no hook-ups, but the scenery is fantastic.

I would stay here again. We camped at Kinaskan Lake Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Boya Lake Provincial Park, Good Hope Lake, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Boya Lake Campground is one of the British Columbia Provincial Parks. It is highly popular and one of the nicest parks I've ever seen. Admittedly the road to Boya Lake is terrible (Canada highway 37) as it is mostly gravel, hilly, and with a lot of curves. There are no hookups, but the scenery far outweighs the disadvantage. If you plan on staying here, I would strongly advise arriving before 3:00 in the afternoon as it is 'first-come, first-serve'.

I would stay here again. We camped at Boya Lake Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Sourdough Campground, Tok, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

They have new ownership and I think that the new owners will be spending the effort to upgrade the park. Things are a bit aged - nothing really wrong, but just needs to have some updating investment in the facilities.

The new owners are very helpful and fun-loving. The evening 'pancake toss' is an excellent way for all of the guests to get to know each other. I did like it that they had a car/RV wash. That's a much needed amenity after driving the Alaska Highway.

I'd stay here again. We camped at Sourdough Campground in a Motorhome.

Bayside RV Park, Valdez, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Basically a gravel parking lot with full hookups. The folks are very helpful. Not only do they have full hookups, but also provide cable and propane.

We were here for three nights after we had been boondocking at Allison Park. I'd stay here again. We camped at Bayside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Allison Point Campground, Valdez, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a city park with no hookups located near the Valdez end of the Alaska pipeline. While there are no hookups, it has all of the scenic views that you could hope for. Also, the location is a fisherman's dream. It is located near the Valdez salmon hatchery and we were there near the start of the salmon run. The area was teaming with wild life coming for their evening meal - sea lions, otters, eagles, black-bears. If you are self-contained, then I'd recommend it. We camped at Allison Point Campground in a Motorhome.

Glacier Meadow RV Park, East Glacier Park, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the better run RV camps that I have been at. It it located south of Glacier National Park, about half way between the east and west entries into the park. The sites are level and the lawn is trimmed very neatly. The folks running the place are very helpful. The only down side is that there is no sewer hookup, although they do have a dump station and have a portable dump drain that they will use to dump your tanks three times a week. They do have good water hookups and 30-amp electric hookups.

Since there was no sewer hookup, I chose to use their shower facilities and was pleasantly pleased. There was plenty of hot water and the shower stalls were very clean. You are in a meadow in the middle of the mountains, so there is no over-air TV and cell service is spotty. They have wireless internet and a phone booster in a pavilion where you can get all bars on your cell phone. They also sell propane, which is nice as we are heading to Alaska and will have several days with no electricity.

I would stay here again... We camped at Glacier Meadow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Canyon Ferry Lake, Riverside Campground, Helena, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest, no hookup places that I have ever stayed at. It is located next to a dam on the Missouri river. Our site was next to the river. I would recommend it to anyone.

The road to the campground was a little difficult and required crossing on top of the dam. We camped at Canyon Ferry Lake, Riverside Campground in a Motorhome.

US Forest Service - Lost Cabin Campground, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no-hookups campground run by the Forestry Service. I really liked this campground even without the hookups. It is heavily treed, and quite well setup. I would recommend it for anyone who is willing to camp without hookups. We camped at US Forest Service - Lost Cabin Campground in a Motorhome.

Three Flags RV Park, Black Hawk, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

There is a somewhat rough dirt road that leads to the park, but it is not a major problem. Our site was not very level. The only thing that bothered me was the water pressure was very low.

This is a good place from which to see the Black Hills. Nothing spectacular, but is a fairly good value. We camped at Three Flags RV Park in a Motorhome.

Eagle Ridge RV Park, Eagleville, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Eagle Ridge on our way from Dallas, TX to Wisconsin. While this is a small park, it has all of the things that you want to have in an RV park. The scenery is very pleasant rolling hills farm lands. The caretakers live on site and are very courteous and helpful. They have a swimming pool, a play area, a laundry room, and several fire pits. Internet wireless is available, although I didn't use it because I was able to get great cell phone service (Sprint) . I generally use a USB tether as I have unlimited data usage. The park has a lot of trees, but they are all trimmed fairly well. I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Eagle Ridge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ray Roberts Lake State Park / Johnson Branch Unit, Valley View, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a hidden jewel in North Texas. It's part of the state park system. While we were there the park was not heavily occupied and rather quiet. The spots are quite separated so that you don't feel cramped. The 50 amp spots are all pull-through. The 30 amp spots are back-ins, and quite a few of them back up to the lake. All spots had a fire pit and a picnic table.

There are several play grounds, bathing houses, and a large public 'beach area'. There is a walking path through the woods which loops throughout the park.

If you pay for the Texas State Parks Pass, you get a good discount. It's good for a year at all of the state parks. We camped at Ray Roberts Lake State Park / Johnson Branch Unit in a Motorhome.
