Torrey Oakes RV & Golf Resort , Bowling Green, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for free as we had gotten a promotion at the Tampa RV show. However, I think the promo is ongoing as the park is interested in selling lots. A resident did visit us about the purchase program. This is a very well maintained park with pool, activities, etc. The golf course is next door, although we only used the driving range. The sites are level, concrete, and well kept. Everyone is extremely friendly. We were in site #129 which is directly across from the office. A good site for satellite reception and FREE. All sites are 50 amp with water and sewer. Absolutely no problem with a 42' motorhome. If I'm right this is a Class A and fifth wheel only park. (Could be wrong on that). We camped at Torrey Oakes RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee, Chokoloskee Island, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent park. The roads are paved and the sites are done with pavers. The landscaping is beautiful and private between sites. We used an FMCA discount. Some sites are on the water, but not all. The pool is very nice. The resort is not part of the Outdoor Resort system as it is all individually owned. Some sites are for sale at $400,000 with a dock. The Havana Cafe across the street is wonderful for breakfast and lunch. We took a boat ride at the National Park which is very close. We camped at Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee in a Motorhome.

Rambler's Rest RV, Venice, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Not a bad park. There are many permanent sites, but all is kept up well. Park models and permanent mobile homes. The rv section is apart from others. Grass sites and level. We were in #128 which faced the woods so it was fairly "private." We used an Encore promo which had us pay for two nites and the 3rd was free. Without question we would stay there again when visiting relatives in Venice. The roads are paved, but get good directions to your site as the roads are tight in areas. We camped at Rambler's Rest RV in a Motorhome.

Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is owned and run by the City of Jacksonville. It is a gem! Roads are paved and sites are gravel/sand and quite level. Good walking areas. There is a campground store/restaurant at the RV entrance, but we did not use it. A word of caution. There are trees and lots of them. Unhitch at the main registration area and drive (if towing) to plan your moves. We did OK with the 42' motor home, but pre-planning was essential. You will do OK, but check the campground route and your site. Everyone (staff and campers) were extremely friendly. Without question we would stay another few days on a future trip to the area. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Van Hoy Farms Family Campground, Union Grove, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very easy access from I-77. The campground is clean and dirt/grass sites are fairly level. The owner led us to the site. This is a good spot for a night or longer, if need be. We will stay again. The pull-through are fine for a 42' motor home. As I recall, the Wi-Fi did not function. We camped at Van Hoy Farms Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We were quite surprised to find this decent park in Carlisle. Sites are grass and gravel. Easy access off the interstate. There are lots of trees, so move cautiously. We did alright with the 42' rig, but planned our attack! The seasonal or permanent sites are removed from the regular sites. Without question we will stay again if looking for an overnight campground. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

Branch Brook Campground, Thomaston, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean and well maintained campground. As former CT residents we were pleasantly surprised. Sites are gravel or grass. Each spot has a fire ring and picnic table. We camped in site #5 which is in the 30 amp section, but had cable TV. There is another area which has 50 amp, but no cable TV. A word about the cable hook-ups. You need to borrow a box for reception. This is apparently the coming practice at campgrounds (so we were told). The entrance and exit are ok with a motorhome and tow. However, it isn't a speedway, so approach carefully. Owners are friendly and keep a very careful eye on the operation. That's good! Close to route 8. We'll probably stay again when we visit our daughter in southern CT. We camped at Branch Brook Campground in a Motorhome.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very clean, well laid out campground with convenient access to I-81. We only stayed one night so the closeness of the sites really made no difference to us. Roads are paved with gravel RV parking sites. Would certainly stay here in the future if our route warrants it. Pull through sites were very easy to maneuver in and out. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort McAllister State Park, Richmond Hill, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is another fine GA state park campground. We stayed in site #16 which had ample room for our 42' motorhome. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The roads are paved with sand/grass sites. Some trees need a bit of trimming so go slowly for overhanging branches. Not too much in the immediate area, but only a 30 minute drive to Savannah. Park and campground hosts are extremely helpful and friendly. We've stayed here previously and will do so in the future. We camped at Fort McAllister State Park in a Motorhome.

Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park, Crystal River, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects a monthly charge. We have stayed here several times over the years and it is better without Encore and in the hands of the original owners. For Florida this is a very treed park with its own character. Lots of sites, but each has a scene of privacy (some more than others). Roads are paved with grass sites. Leveling isn't a problem, but needs your attention. Excellent park for walking as the roads wind around the facility. Staff is just great! We camped at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Coastal Georgia RV Resort, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a relatively new park (19 months) and has been built with us RVers in mind. All roads are paved, concrete sites, picnic tables, BBQ grills, pool, park lighting, pavilion, etc. The lawns and plantings are flourishing under the watchful owners' eyes! In addition, ALL vehicles can be washed at your site. Check out this park as it's beautiful. Good spacing between sites. We camped at Coastal Georgia RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The Barnyard RV Park, Lexington, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

While this isn't a resort campground it is very clean, well maintained and priced right. Good for our 42' motorhome without unhooking. The management is very friendly. It is quite convenient to the interstate (20/26). All hook-ups operated well and we would stay again. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

This campground always delivers what is expected. It is close to I-81 which is important to us on our route South. Very good for big rigs and an escort leads you to your site. Clean and well kept. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Ocala National Forest / Salt Springs Rec Area, Fort McCoy, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very friendly, clean and popular campground. Having full hook-ups is a really fine amenity. The sites are paved as are the roads. Each site has a picnic table, grill and fire ring. The sites are somewhat close to each other, but it worked out ok. The satellite reception was fine. There are many roads for walking. The salt springs have been restored and it is a pleasant place to visit. NO cell phone reception which means a drive of several miles to get in a good zone. Palatka is about 20 minutes away for shopping, public library, etc. This is a national forest so peace and quiet are the rules of the day. We camped at Ocala National Forest / Salt Springs Rec Area in a Motorhome.

Markham Park, Weston, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well run County park and the $40 fee reflects a non-resident. Our site was L5 and was heavily treed, no satellite reception here. The roads are paved with sand parking areas which have a picnic table, grill and fire ring. This is a big facility with lots of walking areas. The one caution is the very active shooting range which goes on until about 8 PM. No problem with guns, but it is a bit on the noisy side. The park is very convenient to the interstate. We camped at Markham Park in a Motorhome.
