Johnny's RV Resort, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

A very neat and clean campground with mostly spacious sites. Some sites are all concrete, but ours was a level limestone pull-thru with a concrete patio. Entire campground is shaded with lots of huge oak trees and I loved all the squirrels running around. Mostly permanent residents living here, but all campsites are clean, no outside junk, and no real old nor FEMA campers. Friendly neighbors, a nice 12 acre fishing pond, new pool and a restaurant with good food on grounds. Sites did not have picnic tables, BBQ pits nor firepits which we don't use anyway unless grandkids are with us. Did not use laundry or bathhouses, so cannot comment on this. I recommend and will definitely stay here again - but will request to be further away from the noisy, busy highway next time. We camped at Johnny's RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cajun RVera, New Iberia, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a VERY nice, exceptionally neat & clean campground -owned and operated by the parish (county) of Iberia. The sites are level concrete, only for the camper not patio setup unfortunately, but they do lack shade trees. This is the only reason I did not give it a 10. There seems to be some long term residents, however, their sites are clean and junk-free, actually you wouldn't even know they are long term unless they told you. Beautiful pool, lazy river with swim-up bar, covered pavilions with tables and chairs, a fishing pond, weekend entertainment, concession stand with some fast food and the nicest people running it we've ever met, especially the lady in the office! Our site was a drive into, so we faced the pond through our MH front picture window. We would definitely come here again, although the highway leading down from Lafeyette off I-10 was horrible for a distance - very uneven and bumpy. Don't hold this against the campground, though! We camped at Cajun RVera in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Places we visited while there: Shadows on the Teche home and gardens, Avery Island with the Tabasco plant and Jungle gardens tour (missed all the azalea and wisteria blooms though). Konrico rice mill tour, Jefferson Island home and garden tour and ate at Duffey's '50s theme restaurant (delicious food and reasonable prices). I'm sure there were other things to do, but bad weather limited us.

Foley Sunchaser RV Park, Foley, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Small but clean and neat little campground, no amenities such as a pool or playground, but we don't use these anyway, so why pay for them! Road and sites are close and either gravel or grass, but for the price, can't be beat! Mostly snowbirds here now and quiet residents, but our site was close to a well traveled road that was noisy at night, but earplugs solved that problem! Would stay here again but will request a site farther off road. Great value! We camped at Foley Sunchaser RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close (like appx. 5-10 miles) to the Tanger Outlet Mall and Lambert's. They say 15 minutes from Gulf Shores beaches, but didn't go there to see if accurate.

Payne's RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, quiet, friendly no-frills campground. Owners very nice and grounds were clean and freshly mowed. Did not give a 10 only because the sites and roads were not paved. About 7 miles from Bellingrath Gardens and not too far off interstate. Perfect lay-over for travelers, as several campers here were. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Lot spacing was nearby with some shade. Site surface was grass and features a picnic table. We camped at Payne's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Martin Lake Resort, Biloxi, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

When you pull in, there are very nice cabins, a putt-putt, pool, hot tub, a nice playground and lake. The office lady was VERY nice and then you pull out to enter the campground. When you make the turn into the actual campground you see cluttered, old campers with junk all around them. It looked like 90% are long term residents and the spaces are paved but close. We were sent to the back section across from an old camper graveyard slophole and 2 dumpsters, what a lovely view! This could be a very nice campground if the permanent rift-raft were made to clean up and remove the freezers and junk from outside their campers. Will never stay here again and do NOT recommend it.

Lot spacing was very close with a sunny/open exposure. Site surface was a concrete pad. We camped at Martin Lake Resort in a Motorhome.
