Rock Hound State Park, Deming, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second time to stay at this state park and I hope to return for a longer stay at some future date. It is one of my favorites. Our site was reserved for one night and was almost perfect-mostly level and right across from the restrooms. Restrooms seemed clean and certainly smelled clean each time that I entered the door. Although I did not use the showers, I did peek into one of them for future reference-push button type with small water saver shower head. We camped at Rock Hound State Park in a Motorhome.

Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

This is overall a very nice state park. It appears that about half of the sites are available under reservation system and half are on a first come/first serve basis. We did not have a reservation when we arrived on a Monday afternoon at about 3:30pm and were able to get a site near the restrooms. Speaking of restrooms-my only complaint about this campground is this area. Toilets are of the "prison type" as my husband calls them-stainless steel toilet bowl without a seat. The showers are push button style with little pressure, little spray and not much warm water. Our site (#50) was adequate for 26 ft motorhome with enough room in front for our tow vehicle. We were able to get level with little effort and enjoyed the fact that there is some space between sites. We camped at Brantley Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It was a pleasant drive to Carlsbad Caverns on one day and then a brief visit to Guadalupe Mountains (TX side) the next day.

Cochiti Lake COE , Pena Blanca, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Buffalo Grove Loop-beautiful setting, mostly quiet except for kids on weekends. Concrete pads, sheltered concrete picnic table, solar powered pole light provides soft light beside table at night. Bathroom and shower facilities are modern and well maintained. Pull through sites are unlevel and almost dangerous because of this. Back in sites appear to be more level. Cigarette smokers should be required to pick up their cigarette buts just as dog owners are required to pick up after their dogs. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

Pull-through convenience is not worth the hassle of trying to level your unit so unless you have automatic levelers on your unit, reserve a back-in site.

Golden Eagle RV Park, Eagle Nest, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our RV club enjoyed a 6 night rally here in June. Staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Sites are mostly level but are in some cases a bit more close than we prefer. Camp store is well equipped with necessities and gift items and campground has a weekly list of activities in which you can participate. There is an on-site chuckwagon serving breakfast and lunch items for sale. Bath and shower facilities are nice and well maintained. We camped at Golden Eagle RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pioneer Beach Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, large campground with boardwalk access to beach. Sites include paved parking and picnic tables. Staff were customer oriented and very understanding of our delayed arrival and last minute need for an additional day due to recurring motorhome problem. Our dogs enjoyed long walks around the campground and evening walks on the beach. We would definitely stay at this campground again if we get back to coastal TX again. Nice toilet/shower room, rally meeting room, pool, and laundry facilities. We camped at Pioneer Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Oakwood RV Resort, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here as part of an RV rally group from Albuquerque, NM. The rally sites are a bit close together but okay since we were next to members of our group. The dog walking area is nice but quite a bit a +way from our site and my dogs were not able to hold their business long enough to get to the proper area. The rally meeting room was a nice but on the small side for our group. The bathroom/shower room was very nice and well-kept as was the laundry facility. Location is convenient but the car was needed to get to grocery, Wal-Mart, and downtown shopping areas. We enjoyed Wildseed Farms and driving country roads to see wildflowers growing on shoulders and in fields. We camped at Oakwood RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Economy Inn & RV Park, Ozona, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Ok for an overnight spot when we could not get a spot in Fort Stockton. It was convenient to I-10 and did have cable service but the $36 price originally quoted to us seemed pretty steep for a gravel site with no patio, no picnic table, and no bathroom/shower facility. We camped at Economy Inn & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Park is a bit off the beaten path but it makes for a quiet time and good star-gazing. There are a few sites with sewer hook-up in the reservation section, but those sites and several more were temporarily without electricity. Bath and shower facility was very nice. We would camp at this park again. We camped at Brantley Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

A+ Motel & RV Park, Sulphur, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground: large, paved, level sites with picnic tables. Nice private pond for fishing enthusiasts. Bathroom, showers, and laundry area were very nice and well kept. Meeting/rally room was quite sufficient for our group of approximately 40. We camped at A+ Motel & RV Park in a Motorhome.
