Blowing Springs Campground, Bella Vista, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

As stated in the other reviews, this is a no-frills park. But the sites are level and asphalt with patios. There are picnic tables but not enough for every site. Laundry is good and there is a tv with cable, chairs and a lending library in a room adjacent to the laundry room. There is no cable and because of the hills surrounding the park, good luck picking up any over-the-air stations - satellite is the only way to get tv or go to the laundry building. If you like to hike and mountain bike, the trails immediately surrounding the park are excellent. There are also paved trails that go by a nearby lake that you can walk and bike on for miles. Wal-mart is nearby as are plenty of stations for fuel. We camped at Blowing Springs Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Osage Beach RV Park, Osage Beach, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a decent park and is nicely located to plenty of shopping (Hy-Vee groceries, Lowes and Home Depot) and fuel. The sites are gravel and reasonably level. This is a good stop over for one night and would be perfectly acceptable for a week or so stay. We camped at Osage Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Double J Campground and RV Park, Chatham, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well managed and well-maintained park. Sites are level and utilities are well located. If you are there to see the Lincoln attractions this park is nicely located about 7 miles away. I did feel like it was a little overpriced for the time of the year since the pool was closed. Would stay here again. We camped at Double J Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mark Twain Cave Campground, Hannibal, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park sets in a hollow and there is no traffic noise. There are lots of mature trees that provide great shade and it is very close to the Mark Twain attractions. Some of the sites are a little tight and the roads are somewhat narrow but okay as long as you take it easy. Some of the roads are starting to need a little attention. The sites are not real level, but manageable with the normal leveling tools. I would stay there again. We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Jackson KOA, Jackson, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is a decent park with easy access and good internal roads. Sites are large enough, fairly level and some have nice shade. Our site had a nice wooden deck complete with a table and chairs. We didn't use it, but the swimming pool looked good. Fuel very close buy. But, like most KOA Campgrounds, this one was overpriced by around $10 to $12 compared to other comparable parks. We camped at Jackson KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Swan Lake State Park, Carroll, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

So, this is a hard park to comment on. Let me say first that the camp hosts were great. The lake and the surrounding green space areas are very nice. You can rent canoes, paddle boats and kayaks just a short walk from the RV sites. And, in the part of the RV park that we were in (upper level), there were great old trees giving us fantastic shade. We wanted a full hookup and got the last site available (the park is first come - no reservations). The sites are all gravel with a picnic table. So, this is where it gets hard to explain. We had to pull in truck first (pulling a 32' fifth wheel) to have the utilities on the correct side. But, the site was not a pull through! And, we needed to unhook to go into town. If the row of sites in front of me had had campers in them, I would not have been able to get my truck out after unhooking. But I was able to pull out because a couple of the sites were still open in front of our site. When I returned a couple of hours later, only one site remained open. So, I entered through that site and got my truck into position so that I could hook up and then back out, the next day, the way that I originally came in. There was a small space running between my row of sites and the ones in front. That is why I was able to get my truck back into position so that I could hook back up. When we left the next day, all the sites in front of us were filled. The only way to leave was to back out, which was really tough because the people in the sites behind me were now parking their vehicles partially in the road, which was pretty narrow to begin with. Most of the sites in the park are not full hookups. And, if you don't need full hookups, there are some better sites than what we had. The park sites are small and just not designed for the larger RVs being used nowadays. The town of Carroll (about 10,000 pop) is about 3 miles away and has plenty of amenities. Swan Lake in total is nice and I would still recommend it, even with the RV site challenges. We camped at Swan Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

WestRich RV Park & Campground, Spicer, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a decent park but with a few issues. The pool, clubhouse, volley ball and basketball courts are all very nice amenities. There is also a storm shelter under the clubhouse, which we did have to use on night as a storm came through, with a tornado warning attached. The roads getting into the park are a little narrow with a lot of tree branch overhang. Fortunately, we never met any one coming or going. Not sure how that would have turned out?

The sites are pretty much just grass, but very spacious, and the hookup are excellent. And my site, #79, and many of the other sites are not very level. I could not get my front end low enough to get completely level, but it worked out. The lake at the park is not really usable. But there is a great lake just a short distance away (Green Lake) in the town of Spicer and it is really nice with a public sand beach.

The park seems to be mostly used by seasonal tenants who leave their RV here all season. We arrived on a Saturday and our reserved spot was the last site left in the park. By Sunday evening, the park was like a ghost town. All the seasonal people went home (their RVs were still here). But it did make for a nice and quiet four days for us. And of course this is Minnesota in the summer time, so bring plenty of mosquito repellent. While I wish there were more options for parks in this area, I would stay certainly stay here again. We camped at WestRich RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Black Canyon Ranch RV Resort (formerly Bradshaw Mountain RV Resort), Black Canyon City, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one week at this park. It appears to be an older park. The roads are pretty narrow as are the sites and the sites are not very long. Sites are gravel with a concrete patio. Hookups are fine. Not much room to park my tow vehicle. But all-in-all it was a decent park and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Sundance 1 RV Resort (Active Adult park), Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed a week at this park. The sites are reasonably spacious and are gravel with a concrete patio. This park mainly caters to permanent park model owners. But probably 25% of the sites remain available to RVs. The amenities in the park are very good and there are numerous activities to participate in. This park is very much a destination park. While pets are allowed, they are clearly not welcome. We camped at Sundance 1 RV Resort (Active Adult park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Kartchner Caverns State Park, Benson, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful campground. We stayed 3 nights to explore the caverns, the historic town of Tombstone and other interesting locations. The campground sets at an elevation of about 4500 feet and was a perfect temperature during our visit. The desert surroundings are great. The sites are very spacious and in great condition. The only downside was no sewers, but the dump station was more than adequate and very convenient. Definitely plan on returning. We camped at Kartchner Caverns State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park), Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park one night and were pleased with it. Access into the park was good and the park roads were in good condition. sites were level but a little close together, but not bad at all. Hookups were fine. The enclosed dog walking area was a nice size with no grass, but still a good enclosure to let the dog run. Pretty good Mexican restaurant within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort, Lajitas, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

If you want a full hookup park in this area, this park is the better of the two available. It's an okay park, and if I visited the National Park again I would not hesitate to stay here again. I think that the price is a little high, but it is a supply and demand issue. While not in the National Park, this park is close enough to be a good base camp for exploring Big Bend. SeaWind RV Resort, Riviera, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for 3 months with a monthly rate of $325. This is a great park that is mostly occupied by snow birds (Winter Texans). Lots of activities and great fishing on the bay. Staff is great. Paved roads and paved sites. Huge recreation hall with a large kitchen, game room building with pool table and ping pong table and a nicely stocked library book exchange room. Laundry is very good. This is a county owned facility and the county is not putting quite enough money back into the park as is needed for proper maintenance. Consequently, there are some needed repairs that are not getting done. But, overall, the park is still in good shape. It is a bit isolated. To do any shopping you have to drive about 25 miles to Kingsville. But it is an easy drive on mostly four lanes. I can definitely recommend this park. We camped at SeaWind RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
