Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc., Forrest City, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was just an overnight stop for us and was adequate. The campground is well maintained and the sites are not too close together. There are grassy areas and small trees around each site and utilities are easy to hook up. The owner is very helpful and efficient. The only negative is the traffic noise from I-40 which is about a block away.
Highway I-40 west of Memphis was a horrible stretch of road with extensive road damge from constant, heavy truck traffic. Our tow vehicle appears to have sustained some internal damage because it now will not start. Advise rigs with tow vehicles to either take it very slow or avoid that stretch and take a lesser highway across. We camped at Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc. in a Motorhome.

Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA, Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is an immaculate facility and campground. Sites were level, but neighbor are fairly close. Best feature was how quiet it was even being within 3/4 mile of I-40. All sites are gravel and easy to get in and out of. Wide entry and adequate driveways for 43 bus and tow vehicle. The grounds are very well maintained. Lots of shade. Very nice pool area. Staff was friendly and efficient. Did not try the wifi. We camped at Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA in a Motorhome.

All Seasons RV Park, Goddard, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

As said before, the sites are 90 degree turns, which would have been difficult with our disabled toad attached if not for getting an end site.
The park is out in the country, so very quiet. Appears to be some long term campers, but sites are clean and quiet. Office staff was helpful and efficient. Side by side hookups make neighbors really close, like slide to slide. Wifi did not work in the back row where we were, but I did not try it multiple times as mentioned before. Traffic on the county road out front was pretty heavy when we checked in during rush hour and they don't even slow down for a big rig trying to turn in or out. Shade tree and clover grassy area with picnic table made for nice reading area in the evening, but my husband found two ticks on him in the morning. Beware! We camped at All Seasons RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Sites vary a lot in size, width, level, etc. The pull-thru we reserved was not level. We had to try three more before finding something we could fit our 44' bus into. Sites have gravel pads surrounded by trees, undergrowth and packed dirt. Getting around the driveways was not easy since trees are close and driveways dip and turn.
The location is great for visiting Atlanta and exploring the park. Wifi was sporadic, but hotspot worked okay. Did not use any of the facilities. Staff was efficient and helpful. Would definitely go back again. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice drive around the mountain. Would have liked to do some biking and walking on the many trails and toured the historic square where the outdoor museum is located. We plan to stop again.

Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: The park is well arranged and the sites are spacious. There is a large lake adjoining the campground and adds to the nice setting. Many sites have mature shade trees and the grounds are well maintained. There is a nice pool area, but we did not use it. The staff went out of their way to find a site that was acceptable after the first two attempts and obviously want to do their best to make your stay agreeable to you. They have a wagon ride on Friday and Saturday over to the Oakland Plantation (original owner's plantation home).
Cons: This is an expensive park compared to almost everywhere else we have stayed and we are "full-timers" even though the beach on Isle of Palms is 30 minutes away. Even the kayak, canoe and paddleboat rentals are ridiculous at $10 per 1/2 hour each - $40/hour for two single kayaks. (We saw no one out in a rental the whole three weeks we were there visiting family.) Although the park is two blocks from highway 17, there is a lot of traffic noise. Some sites have no shade, decrepit picnic tables, large patches of dirt, construction/storage visible, etc. We camped at Mt. Pleasant / Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Great places to eat: Melvin's BBQ, East Bay Deli, Wasabi, Ye Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Pages' Okra Grill, Acme LowCountry Kitchen, Home Team,

Best auto service: East Cooper Auto Pro
Gourmet cook's dream shopping: Southern Seasons
Best night out we had with family: Saturday night harbor dinner cruise with Spiritline Cruises.
Never made it to Charleston this time, but there is lots to see and do there and it is just across the river.

Mid-America Camp Inn, Goodland, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnighter for us on the way across Kansas. The lady in the office was nice to us, but she qualifies for the hoarder TV show. I agree with everything said in the previous reviews! Will never stay here again. Walmart parking lot is better. We camped at Mid-America Camp Inn in a Motorhome.

Chickasabogue Park, Prichard, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived late and could barely understand the speech of the park kiosk attendant and the instructions on how to find our site (he was out of maps) so we got on the wrong road and had an ordeal turning our 43' bus around. Went back to the kiosk and no one was there. Some helpful campers gave us directions to find the campground and then we were shocked to see how narrow the pull-through actually was. We made it by backing in and managed to get hooked up. Since it was only overnight, we did not see anything more of the campground or the surrounding area except for some questionable characters around us. Wish we had stayed in the Walmart parking lot. I would not recommend this to anyone except as a last resort. We camped at Chickasabogue Park in a Motorhome.

Air Capital RV Park, Wichita, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new park with concrete and asphalt everywhere. The owner purposely did not plant any trees. There is a strip of grass between the sites. No picnic table, no shade. Obviously you are meant to stay in your rig or bring your own table and chairs if you want to eat or be outside. There is a large facility where we checked in that has a laundry and storm shelter (pretty important here!). It was a nice clean parking spot for our 43' bus. We camped at Air Capital RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ozark Highlands RV Park, Springfield, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a mature mobile home park and the RV spots are in the back as mentioned before . They are all gravel with no patio or picnic table, but fine for an overnight stop as we did. The driveways and spaces were adequate for our 43' bus, the utilities were good and the location is convenient to highway 65. The staff was very helpful in getting us a spot on a Sunday night after hours. We camped at Ozark Highlands RV Park in a Motorhome.

Forkland Campground, Demopolis, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We had a back-in site with plenty of room for our 43' bus and car. Driveways are curving, but adequate width. The campground is several miles off the highway in a wooded area on the Tombigbee River so it is very quiet and peaceful. We had electrical and water hookups, but no sewer (deducted one star), so we opted to stay only four days and move on. There are walking trails around the park. Will definitely come back again if we are ever in the area and the next time I will be prepared to fish! We camped at Forkland Campground in a Motorhome.

Sugar Sands RV Resort, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

The park looks very new and the spaces and driveways were more than adequate for our 43' bus and car. It is in a quiet, semi-secluded area. The utilities worked great. Wi-Fi was not great, but adequate off and on. We did not use the pool since the weather had not warmed up enough yet, but it is very attractive with lots of seating, the water spouts and zero entry. Staff was friendly and efficient. Would definitely come back. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The location is good for being within a few miles of the beach and tourist area, yet far enough away to not have the tourist traffic. Supermarkets and other shopping nearby. Great bicycle trails in Gulf State Park. We make a point of checking out all the ice cream stores and highly recommend Kayden's Candy Factory in Orange Beach.

Raccoon River Campground, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The park was originally built like an old west town (think "Tombstone", gunfighters) and some remnants remain. The grounds are maintained well and the utilities worked fine. Most spaces were impossible for our 43' bus, but we got a pull-thru that worked. Corners of the concrete pads have been broken off. The staff was friendly and efficient. The location is great for walking to the beach and all the tourist attractions along the beach road. The wifi is inadequate, but there is a library with good wifi across the street if you need it. The pool is clean, but the furnishings around it really need deep cleaning and some umbrellas are actually tattered and hanging to the ground. There is a huge amusement park next door that may be noisy in the summer months, but it has lots of fantastic water attractions. The park has many tall pine trees, Magnolias and shrubbery that insulate it from street noise a little and provide shade. Loved the lily pond and listening to the croaking of the frogs at night! We camped at Raccoon River Campground in a Motorhome.

Carrabelle Beach RV Resort, Carrabelle, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park appears very new, but the layout is not adequate for today's big rigs. Driveway turns and spaces were really tight for our 43' bus and other big rigs. The corners of the park model homes are even with the edge of the asphalt on the outside driveway! The length of the spaces is adequate for bus and car, but there is not much patio space after putting out the slides. The newer section across the side road is more open, but not as nice. There are a couple other parks in the area that are more open and close to the water, but having this really great beach across the street is definitely attractive. All things considered, we would go back again. We camped at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location and a lot to do in the area if you like outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, hiking, walking the beach, etc., but there are no biking trails. Several good restaurants in the area. Apalachicola is a good place to spend an afternoon walking around and shopping. The drive over to St. George Island state park is easy and interesting.

Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was a one night stopover for us and we had no problem with the park. The spaces were large enough for our 43' bus and the driveways were easy to navigate. There are a lot of trees and it feels somewhat secluded, but I-70 is only a couple blocks away and road noise could be a problem for some. The staff was friendly and efficient. Would stay here again.
