Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very well cared for and good bang for the buck. Location is wonderful.....very close to downtown. Of course, how fast you get there is a question mark. Terrible traffic and construction going on in front of the park. It's a tight park but not difficult to get a big rig in and set up. Lots of trees, so you could have a satellite problem ...but I lucked out there. Everyone I've dealt with is friendly and professional. Price is wonderful considering location. Second trip here and would stay again. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Forget about trying to go north during morning rush hour unless you just enjoy stop and go. Lots of great places to eat on the west side of the highway and all over Austin, for that matter.

St. Louis RV Park, St. Louis, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I can only echo the thoughts of most of the others here. Great location. Very few RV parks in USA located in the middle of major cities. Great access to all the popular tourist spots and restaurants. Staff is most helpful and friendly. Pool was a pleasant surprise. Well cared for and being a hot day, it was relaxing to take a dip. Having grown up in STL, I was a little concerned about he safety but no problems. Good security measures and a police station right across the street. My only knock is that it's not that level. But it's clean and well maintained. I would return. We camped at St. Louis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mid central downtown. 15 minutes from the Arch or Forest Park, the Hill or the Brewery and stadium. They also have public transportation that is cheap that can get you around and avoid parking.

Miller Creek RV Resort, Johnson City, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is an update from the last time I was here. Good news/bad news. The free internet is no longer free. But the reality is, the internet was hit or miss in the past in terms of getting on. They have a lot of full timers here who like to stream videos and that was causing problems. I didn't pay the $5 fee for the one night I was here so I can't tell you if the internet is better now. I'm probably going to wind up spending a lot of time here in the future. But for one night...at $40, I think internet should be free. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Travelers World RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This is a first class park, reasonably priced. It's very clean and well cared for. The pool is in first class condition although I wish there was a cover/tarp covering the pool area to keep things cooler so the water wasn't so hot. It gets the brunt of the sun. Great for kids and pets. It's rare to find a top notch park close to downtown in a major metro area these days. I will be back here. We camped at Travelers World RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The restaurant Guadalara across the street is excellent hole in the wall. Good prices and big servings. You're a very short drive to downtown SA and the tourist places. Big Lou's Pizza on the east side of town is wonderful.

My second time here and I'll return. Great bang for the buck. We had premium site facing the lake. Just beautiful. They come collect the trash. I got a good satellite signal. Staff was friendly and most helpful. Wonderful location....you're not that far from the main strip and they have the bus that comes thru to take you downtown. Excellent bang for the buck located in the center of the DFW metro area. Very clean, well cared for. Some low hanging trees to look out for and getting a satellite signal could be a problem in some places but I was fine. All the hookups worked well. I would come back here in a heartbeat. So many places to go in the DFW area. In addition to being steps away from the big Flea Market, you're a short drive from Cowboys/Rangers stadiums, Six Flags & Water park and less than a half hour from Dallas or Fort Worth. Many good restaurants close by.

Isla Blanca Park, South Padre Island, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Cable TV didn't work well but I have DISH so no big loss. You can't pick up Ch5/ABC over the air at the beach, though. Lots of room and pretty EZ to get around. If you're looking to stay here during the summer make sure to book months in advance; otherwise, there is lots of room usually. They need to be a little more on the ball when it comes to trimming and mowing. good bang for the buck though. I've stayed at the KOA nearby and it's nice but far more expensive. If pool/hot tub is worth about double the price, fine. It's usually pretty windy so putting the awning out isn't a good option most of the time. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

Many things to do on SPI and some good places to eat. However, for great tex-mex, Manuel's in Port Isabel near the lighthouse is a wonderful hole-in-the-wall for breakfast and lunch. On weekends during the summer, be prepared for a wait to get in, though. Blackbeards and Louie's are institutions. D'Pizza Joint is very good.

One of the nicer RV parks I've stayed. I was in a pull thru and although the site could have been more level and the sewer was in an awkward spot, I enjoyed the park. the pool and hot tub were excellent. the park is located on the bay and quiet. the staff was a little anal about going over the rules when i checked in. Cedar Hill State Park, Cedar Hill, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Whether you're here to visit DFW area or just camp out, very nice park and good bang for the buck. Our spot was mostly level and we could get satellite signal but there would be spots you can't unless you have remote dish to move around. Good signal for phone. Local TV signal is best anywhere considering all the TV towers are within 3 miles. Maybe State of Texas Parks will consider internet in the future. Park is well maintained and we had view of Joe Pool Lake. Marina and road to Marina was closed. Heavy rains caused flooding this year. They could use more signs giving directions to sites. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

You're about 30 minutes to downtown Dallas. 20 minutes to Cowboys, Rangers, Six Flags in Arlington. Many good restaurants nearby in Cedar Hill on 67 and also along I-20 in Grand Prairie and Arlington. Avoid rush hour if possible, though. 67 and 20 can be a problem in the AM and PM.

Cactus RV Park, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

It's a former motor hotel that has been closed for probably 25 years. The old rooms and garages are historical landmarks. I-40 closed this hotel like hundreds of other motels along the main streets interstates bypassed. You need a self contained RV for showers/bathroom. The electrical, water and sewers were in great shape and level. The woman on duty was very helpful in directing me to set up. It's a good price for an overnight stay. I had no issues with road noise or dogs barking. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It was just an overnight stay but I would recommend Del's restaurant, a very short walk down main street. It's been around 60 years and the service and food was very good. I recommend the green chili stew. Outstanding! I would like to visit some of the historical sites down old Hiway 66 in this town next time I drive through.

Malibu Beach RV Park, Malibu, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $160.00
Overall Rating:

It's probably the most expensive park I've ever stayed, but I will be back because it offers THE greatest views around overlooking the Pacific on some of the most costly real estate in the USA. WiFi was hit or miss.

It's not EZ to get a big rig in and out of some of these spots but once you do, your being offered some of the greatest WOW moments.

Beware, Pacific Coast Highway traffic can be awful. It took me about an hour to get from Santa Monica pier area to Malibu Beach on a Sunday afternoon. We camped at Malibu Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Coastal Dunes RV Park , Oceano, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Is this a luxury RV park? NO. But you get great bang-for-the-buck. You're a half mile walk from the Beach...and you can drive on the beach here, too. You only have 30amps here but you probably won't run one AC let alone two or three, so 50amps really isn't necessary. Make sure to have adapter.

Yes, you are in between PCH-1 and the railroad tracks but the noise wasn't bad, especially at night while you're trying to sleep and I did have the windows open. AMTRACK doesn't run overnight and when it does come thru, it's past you in seconds.

I had no problems getting in or leaving. Everything worked. You don't have WiFi but remember, you're not paying super high prices like you do elsewhere. I wasn't disappointed with this place and I would go back tomorrow.

Staff was VERY helpful. I didn't get to use my DISH because I got stuck behind a tree: luck of the draw. Cable worked OK most of the time. Lots of selections. You don't have a picnic table or fire pit at each spot, but there are several of these around the park. First come, first serve. Weather here can't be beat. We camped at Coastal Dunes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very good Mexican restaurant, Old Juan's across from the south end of the park and a colorful diner in a railroad car about a block south of Old Juan's. I recommend both. A couple miles up north of the park on PCH is Old West Cinnamon Rolls, best I've ever had.

Ventura Beach RV Resort, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

I would rate this close to a 10 but it's so close to the 101 Freeway that makes the noise hard to really enjoy being outside. But it's a well run park. The staff made things EZ and were helpful. Pool and Hot spa were great. they have entertainment and lots of things for kids. Very family friendly and close to downtown Ventura. The camp also has a big military truck to take you/pick up in downtown. Can't miss it! They make you wear wristbands because they've had trouble with homeless people walking in and lock up your bikes and other nice things outside because things do get stolen here. But they have made investments in 24 hour security which is a reason the cost of coming here is pretty high. I would stay here again but would request spot on the southeast side of the camp. We camped at Ventura Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

One of the most beautiful city halls in the country. Nice downtown. Buzy Bee's is good old time diner on main street. Have to pay for parking on Main Street but if you go east or west ... there is free parking behind many of the buildings. I didn't care for the beach near the pier. A LOT of seaweed.

Overall Rating:

If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is NOT the place to be! (LOL) This is a family park with MANY kids running around and it can be loud. But it's an extremely well run and organized park. Yes, it's pricey but it's right on Mission Bay, some of the most expensive real estate in the USA. The beach is great. Rent boats or other water toys. You're packed in but they are VERY well organized. I had plenty of room for my slideouts and my awning. Lots of activities for young and old. Very clean.
