Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't like our site as much this time as the last time we stayed here. We had to VERY carefully navigate out of it on departure because the big rig across from us had its rear end right at the road and the big rig next to us on the left had their car parked in front of their rig right at the edge of the road. We were surrounded by 45'ers that barely fit into their "big rig" sites! It's a lovely park but tight on the north side sites. Lots of sculptures and an antique equipment garden as well. Nice views of the mountains to the east. Tucked back near a neighborhood so pay close attention to GPS because no places to turn around! We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Santa Fe is loaded with culture, museums, shopping, outdoor activities & lots of great restaurants. Last time here we spent a week and ran out of time before we saw everything. This was a quick 1-night stop on our way home to AZ.

Foot of the Rockies RV & Storage, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Looks like a lot of full-timers in a more industrial area. It is close to I-25 and okay for a one night stop. I wouldn't stay here for more than that. No atmosphere at all, just a hilly, dusty place to park a rig. GPS was off and entrance sign is tiny so we had to disconnect dolly to back up coach to make the turn into campground. Whole campground is terraced with back-in sites & steep road. We had plenty of room to park dolly and car. We camped at Foot of the Rockies RV & Storage in a Motorhome.

Lots to do in the Springs. Garden of the Gods is stunning. Air Force Academy close by. Lots of restaurants to choose from and great view of Pike's Peak from everywhere. Cog Railroad broken and out of service for the next few years. Too bad because we did it last time we were here and it was a fun adventure. Hot and windy this trip.

Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Everything around Rocky Mountain National Park is pricey. Our site was long enough but not real level. Sewer was way at the rear and we were lucky we had extra sewer hose. I saw one gentleman walking out of the office with a box of new sewer hose! You are literally 5 minutes from the park entrance. The campground is all dirt roads, few trees and very dusty. It was quite windy so we didn't dare open any windows or put out any awnings. It was a perfect spot to visit RMNP but it would be tough to enjoy any outdoor stuff around your rig! Saw a huge playground near the rear of the park with some grass around it. We camped at Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

5 minutes from Rocky Mountain NP's East Entrance. Loved the Trail Ridge Road views. Bear Lake parking was full all weekend but shuttles seemed to run regularly. Had lunch at Grand Lake and dinner Sunday night at Rock Inn Tavern just outside the campground. Food was great. Estes Park is just a couple miles down the road with lots of activities, restaurants & shopping.

Denver East / Strasburg KOA, Strasburg, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older campground and their app said big rig friendly but we were skeptical when we pulled in because the road looked really narrow. The first turn was slow and moderately tight but they guided us into a perfect site for our 45' & tow. We were also able to pull straight to the exit the next morning. Their on-site BBQ place was tasty and reasonably priced. This would not be a place I'd choose to stay more than a night or two. The sites are tight and there's sewer drains right next to your neighbor's picnic table. Ours was a quick stop off I-70 with good entrance and exit. We camped at Denver East / Strasburg KOA in a Motorhome.

WaKeeney KOA, WaKeeney, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Entrance road under repair so had to deviate thru aneighborhood. Hard to see the Detour sign until we'd made the turn so luckily had enough room to turn around in the fuel station on the corner! Nice, easy check-in with friendly staff. Made sure we were told about root beer floats/ice cream available in office from 5:00-6:30. Pretty empty when we pulled in; almost full by sunset. Right off I-70 so perfect for 1-night stop on our way west. Some highway noise but not unexpected due to proximity. We had window open overnight with no noise issues. Very windy and pouring rain before sunset but full rainbow over row of coaches was pretty stunning! We camped at WaKeeney KOA in a Motorhome.

Kansas City West / Lawrence KOA , Lawrence, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Easy in with workamper guide. Lots of big trees but mostly well trimmed. We did have one branch hanging over the retracted satellite but we were only here for one night so we didn't worry about it. They put us in an end pull-thru because of our overall length and we just fit. Serving Ashby's delicious hand-scooped ice cream in the office! We camped at Kansas City West / Lawrence KOA in a Motorhome.

Sundermeier RV Park, Saint Charles, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Easy to get to pull thru. A bit confusing where to park to register so we stayed on main entrance road and that was perfect because we were in the first row & in a perfect orientation to pull right down the row. Friendly staff. Quick 1-night stop on our way West so didn't explore at all. Power was consistent, especially since it was almost 100F and we ended up running all 3 roof units after driving all day in the heat! We camped at Sundermeier RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Easy in, easy out. Big rig capable. No sewer but perfect for a one-night stop. They give you a small discount on food in the casino restaurants (how else will they get non-gamblers in there otherwise?). Our dinner at 99 Hops was excellent and so was our server. Buffet breakfast was lukewarm but was included in the campsite rate. We camped at Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Haas Lake Park RV Campground, New Hudson, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 3-1/2 months here at a seasonal, monthly rate. Electric is additional. This is a lovely gem just outside major city limits. It's 2 miles of dirt road from the paved main road entrance so be prepared for lots of dusty cars! There are 4 lakes and they limit their seasonal guests. There are probably 40% of the site's that are yearly rentals and it's very heavy on locals who just come out to enjoy the lakes on the weekends. Our site had 3 huge shade trees which kept us cool during the hot summer but we were unable to get a satellite signal so we put our Direct on vacation hold. We were able to pick up limited local channels with our antenna. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of planned family activities on the weekends. Grounds are immaculate. We are originally from this area so we spent a lot of time visiting family & friends but there's lots of nice attractions nearby. We camped at Haas Lake Park RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunny Brook RV Resort, South Haven, Michigan

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the prettiest campgrounds we have stayed in. We stayed here 2 years ago and they have expanded it and the new sites are larger and even nicer with more green space & landscaping in between them. It is definitely a luxury campground and they sell lots. The owners do a lot of upscale landscaping as well. There are lots of activities and everything is immaculate and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We camped at Sunny Brook RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA, Lebanon, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

Entering the campground in a big rig with a tow was a bit unclear so we needed a guide and a long loop around the campground to get into our site, but it was easily accomplished with wide, manageable turns. Our pull-thru was long and utilities easily accessible. Staff was very friendly & helpful. We camped at Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA in a Motorhome.

Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina, Salvisa, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

DISCLAIMER- This is geared toward BIG rig owners! It's a long narrow road into a lovely campground on the banks of the Kentucky River. Even though the owners have widened the roads by 4' and the sites by 3' and just re-surfaced the sites, the turns are still tight for 45' motorhomes with tows. Our site was long enough to not disconnect the tow but we dropped the car at the office because they had so much rain the grass in between pads was saturated. Our rear wheels and tow wheels on driver's side still got very muddy making the turn in & out. We needed extra sewer hose & extra hose to reach water. As long as you are well aware & well prepared, this is a lovely campground. We camped at Cummins Ferry Campground & Marina in a Motorhome.

Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga, Rossville, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

I called them for directions because their location was unclear. The campground is actually just south of the Tennessee/GA border in GA so when I gave them our name, they remembered our reservation and reminded me to call them when we got to Exit 1 on the freeway so they could have someone meet us at the entrance. We're 45' plus a tow and they wanted to guide us in " not the usual way to make it easier for us" and they sure did! They put us in a long pull-thru directly across from the office using the " out" drive of the campground to get into it..... smooth as silk! Very helpful staff and very nice campground. Nice big covered picnic area that would be great for groups too. We camped at Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga in a Motorhome.

Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Little confusing coming in I-40 from the West with the freeway system but at least you pass the campground from the freeway and can see where you're going to end up! We got a call from them about 3:00 pm confirming we'd be arriving before the office closed at 5 pm or else they'd explain their night arrival instructions. Check-in was smooth & thorough, directions to campsite clear. Campsite access more than adequate with good access to back in. Very helpful friendly & staff. We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Motorhome.

A little far from I-40 for a one night stop but a nice campground. Easy in & out for the pull-thru they put us in.
