Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We loved staying here last year so decided to add a week here again after Balloon Fiesta. It's a retro park with the main building dating back to the 40's as a trading post. Laundry room has antique washing machine & ironing machine. Lots of Route 66 decor. They have some retro trailers you can rent for a night or two. Staff is friendly, roads are wide & easily managed in a 45' w/tow. This time we had a back-in spot with easy access. You're about 19 miles west of ABQ with easy I-40 accessible. Wi-fi in our area was non-working due to a broken part. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Motorhome.

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

We are members of Monaco International and this was rally-style dry camping at the West VIP lot just south of the launch field. Our club rate included 2 lunches, 2 breakfasts and appetizers at Social Hours. It's difficult to get into this lot unless you're a member of a group because of its location. Although we could see the balloons launching from our front window, we went down onto the field to get up close & personal. Generators are allowed except for "quiet hours" and water trucks & honey wagons could be utilized for a fee. THE place to be for Balloon Fiesta! A Balloon landed directly in front us in our Social Area between the Host Coaches! Ours was a 4-night package for $475 for the 2 of us. We camped at Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Park in a Motorhome.

USA RV Park, Gallup, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Someone from the campground called first thing in the morning to confirm our reservation. Check-in was smooth and friendly. They made sure we knew they were serving pulled pork sandwiches for $5 later today. Roads were wide & easy to navigate. In the 50 amp pull-thrus they park in opposite directions but we had a nice-long spot for our 45' Class A. One night stop on our way to Albuquerque for Balloon Fiesta....easy access off I-40 with several truck fuel dealers right at the exit. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A little confusing since the RV Park check-in is across a Main Street from the park. We pulled into where all the rigs were parked and then had to walk a block or so back to check-in. Camp area is meticulous, wi-fi never dropped over three days. You are right next to the Grand Canyon Railroad lines plus another set of rails with a bit of traffic. Walking distance to the Train Depot but the Campground/Hotel has a shuttle as well. There's a phone in the laundry room at the campground to call the shuttle. We'd stay here again. We camped at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in a Motorhome.

We took the train into the Grand Canyon for the day or you can do an overnight stay too. The Campground Booking Office can handle the tickets. We were lucky enough to arrive on the last day of the season for the steam locomotive for the season. We watched it arrive back at the Station at 5:45 pm. New Brewery Restaurant is right across the street and it was pretty good.

Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly manager met us when we pulled in and guided us right into our space. After we were all hooked up I went to the office to pay. Wi-fi connected immediately. RV GPS got wonky and brought us the back way on Old Hwy 58. Get easier directions from the staff by phone! He also gave us a map for a shortcut to I-40 for when we leave. It's not a big campground and he said they were full until May without a reservation. We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA, Visalia, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

I knew about the bad water issues but we needed a one-night stop on our way from Sacramento to Albuquerque. There's not a lot of choices along CA-99 so I called and when the lady who answered told me about the water, I said that was fine. It was just a 1-night quick stop & we'd come in with full tank. But would they discount the price because of the water issue? She said no. With such a big rig, we opted to stay anyway but it's a ridiculous policy in my opinion. Naturally there weren't too many campers in the lot but it's a pretty quick off/on CA-99 so it was fine. We camped at Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA in a Motorhome.

Vineyard RV Park, Vacaville, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, established campground with wide roads & nice landscaping. Small pond separates sections. Excellent wi-fi, no issues with power or water. A fair number of seasonal residents but everything was neat, clean and all were friendly. Peacefully quiet except for Mr. Rooster making his presence known occasionally. We'd stay here again. Good freeway access with a big travel center just a mile down the road for diesel. We camped at Vineyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Cash or check only! Beautiful older property with lovely landscaping around spacious sites. Our back-in was very deep & wide with tall hedges on either side. Wi-fi bandwidth is insufficient for the number of rigs and devices each rig carries but they have the maximum available in the area. Our AT&T signal was non-existent even though their is a tower near one corner of the campground. Had to go about 1/2 Mile towards Fort Bragg to download emails or make calls. Park is clean & quiet. We got a great signal on our satellite dish and they also offer cable. We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Everything NW Pacific Coast has to offer with redwoods north, Lighthouses south and gorgeous coastal views. Lots of restaurants nearby and Mendocino Coastal Botanic Gardens are stunning. Roads can be narrow and twisty, turny so driving takes longer to get places. Driving a 45' coach with tow was heart stopping in spots!!

Village Camper Inn RV Park, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful wooded, established campground close enough to US-101 for transiting but far enough away to not hear it! Highway is closer than the ocean but we could hear the foghorn! Very, very friendly staff with a lot of seasonal rigs with decorative landscaping. Our site became a huge pull-thru due to demand and it was perfect for our big rig. Wi-fi is $10 a week for 2 devices but did not drop. AT&T signal was decent and we had a great spot for Direct satellite access. We camped at Village Camper Inn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Winchester Bay RV Resort, Winchester Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

The only reason they didn't get a 10 was because our reservation was messed up but they worked long & hard to accommodate us. I'm very clear when booking that we have a 45' Class A plus a tow. When we arrived they had us in a 40' spot with no parking and no access with our wide turning radius. Apparently a former new employee made lots of these mistakes and they've been fixing them all summer. We dry-camped at their MAC no charge the 1st night and then moved into a lovely site with a water view the next day. This is a beautiful campground, meticulously maintained. Very friendly, helpful staff and neighbors. Book well in advance because it's almost always full. I booked in January and they could only give us 4 nights. We camped at Winchester Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Barview Jetty Park, Rockaway Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very, very busy Campground with great staff. We had two different sites because we needed to extend over Labor Day and our first reserved site was already booked. Book EARLY, lots of returning campers. They have way more tent sites than RV sites. 1/2 are pull-thru and more spacious. Back-ins are much closer together. Good Direct TV from both our sites. Wi-fi is $4/day and they suggested we only pay for 1 day first to make sure we could access it. No problem from our two sites. Beach sites are dry camping but really close to the water. Big long Jetty with melodic foghorn that I loved listening to. Careful to watch awnings with quickly big ocean breezes. Got CRAZY busy over Labor Day weekend but everyone was quiet after 10 pm. We'd definitely stay here again. We camped at Barview Jetty Park in a Motorhome.

Toutle River RV Resort, Castle Rock, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Big campground.....some of the sites have tall, tall beautiful trees and others are more open. Since we wanted to use our Direct TV, they moved us to a more open one. It was perfect. Looks like a lot of seasonal or full-timers there but everyone was very friendly and it was pretty quiet. It's situated right next to I-5 so there's some dull road noise present but with all the trees, it's buffered. We've always lived near train tracks so they don't bother us but there are tracks/train whistles next to the campground. Roads were easy to navigate & utilities were perfectly placed. NO campfires allowed at the present due to the continuing drought. We would stay here again. We camped at Toutle River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Riverbend Campground , Olympia, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Secluded, wooded campground. We had asked for a pull-thru when we booked in January. Upon arrival was told we were in a crack-in spot instead w/no other spots available. Roads are gravel and curvy and since we were way at the back of the campground at the dead end road, it was interesting navigating into our spot. We had to stop and walk to the spot to analyze when to unhook car/trailer but our spot was wide enough to pull the car in and drag the trailer through the rocks to park it next to the coach. Luckily there's a spur road a bit away from the spot so husband was able to back coach up past that road after unhooking so he could turn coach around to back into the spot. A LOT of work for a one-night stay! Heavy trees so no satellite, no cable but decent phone signal. We camped at Riverbend Campground in a Motorhome.
