Rideau Acres Campground, Kingston, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground to visit the Kingston area. The roads and site placements are unusual, but workable. Lots of access to the water and variety of watercraft available for rent. The advertised WiFi at the office and hall did not work for our entire stay. We camped at Rideau Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Milton Heights Campground, Milton, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is well laid out, very well maintained, and upgrades are ongoing. It is convenient for visiting Toronto. The staff was helpful in recommending things to do and how to get into Toronto. The staff was friendly, but the owner tried to be invisible when making his rounds. He wouldn't even acknowledge or speak to anyone when meeting them on the roads. Certainly not a people person. The only complaints: The shower water was not hot enough, apparently trying to save on propane. Just barely warm enough to tolerate. IF YOU ADVERTISE THAT YOU HAVE WIFI, AT LEAST HAVE A SYSTEM THAT WORKS. It connected easy, but there was not enough bandwidth to even check email. It was that way all week. We camped at Milton Heights Campground in a Motorhome.

St Clair--Thousand Trails , St Clair, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I'm sure it once was and still has potential to be great. There was only one 50amp site left and it was unlevel and muddy. This park has a great number of seasonals leaving very little room for transient members. The newest section is almost completely seasonals. The ranger said that they had been full all summer. We really enjoyed our stay in the area and the staff was very good. This park is like most Thousand Trails parks, unlevel and muddy sites. Just keep more sites available, level them, and put out some rock. We camped at St Clair--Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Shame on me. I just read one of the reviews and decided to stay here. I reserved a 50 amp site for a 40' motorhome with slides and a towed vehicle for a week. When I arrived they sent me to a site that was barely long enough for the motorhome, much less the car. The site is the most unlevel I have encountered in 6 years of fulltime RVing and it only had weak 30 amp electrical. When I went back to the office to talk to them about it they said "sorry" that is the best they could do. Oh, and sorry we overlooked the request for a 50 amp site. They had several open 50 amp sites, but those were reserved for the following weekend. We checked in on a Sunday and they kept those sites open for a week for others, but unwilling to assign me a site that I reserved. I talked to our neighbors that reserved two weeks. They were made to move after one week to an even worse site because their site had been reserved for someone else. This RV park has no concept of resource utilization. The roads are in bad shape and just basically trails through the trees. Sites are very close to neighbors. I will NOT stay here again. We camped at Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

In my years as a fulltime RVer I have never found a RV park with a better layout than this one. All sites are on very large and level concrete pads. Electrical was strong and Wi-Fi stable and fast. Easy access from I-40, but far enough away to avoid road noise. Restrooms, showers, and laundries clean and scattered throughout park. We will definitely stop here again. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Duxbury Country Store and Campground, Duxbury, Vermont

Date of Stay: October, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

What a dump -- muddy, unlevel, and tall weeds. The owner is a JERK and is either a liar or just ignorant. We see why this place gets such bad reviews. The only reason we considered staying there is that it would be close for a family visit. We pulled in and told the owner we wanted to stay two nights and needed to dump on the way in. He said that it would be $30 per night for water/electric 30amp plus $15 to dump. I told the owner that in over four years of fulltiming we have never been asked to pay a dump fee if we stayed at a campground. He said that it is normal to charge a fee in the area. I didn't believe him and when I checked nine other campgrounds in the area, none charge for dumping if you stay with them. I see why the place was empty and junky. The owner's strange business plan seems to be working for him, but not for his customers. This guy said it bought the campground a couple of years ago. Too bad he didn't have the previous owner teach him something about running a business. We camped at Duxbury Country Store and Campground in a Motorhome.

Kampfires (formerly Hidden Acres Campground), Brattleboro, Vermont

Date of Stay: October, 2012 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice comfortable park. We were there just before they closed for the season so we nearly had the place to ourselves. Very quiet with good long pull-through sites, good Wi-Fi, and good water pressure. The only knock is the very weak electrical. Even with a nearly empty park the voltage was low. We camped at Kampfires (formerly Hidden Acres Campground) in a Motorhome.

White Birches Camping Resort, Shelburne, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: October, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We called twice during the week before our arrival checking on availability and amenities. Each time getting answers was like pulling teeth. When we arrived we didn't like the look or feel of the place. The owner or manager was unfriendly and indifferent. The sites are on a hill side, Some in the open and some in the trees. It looks like they just dumped a load of rock and called it a site. Most are really unlevel and the weeds were over growing the place. We decided to just do a drive through and go somewhere else. We cannot recommend anyone stay there. We camped at White Birches Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park and convenient to Cape Cod, Mystic, New Bedford and Boston. Great electrical and water pressure. We kept extending our stay because it was so nice and relaxing there. Great fudge in the store at a very good price is an added bonus. We camped at Gateway to Cape Cod Campground in a Motorhome.

Pumpkin Patch RV Resort, Hermon, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was recommended by friends. It was a real disappointment. Except for a very few sites where they have added some rock, the sites are very unlevel. About half of the sites have a tree or two. It just happens that they placed the trees perfectly to block satellite signals. It is disgraceful that a place with such potential has been so poorly planned. I would stay there again if I could get one of the level, treeless sites. We camped at Pumpkin Patch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Timber Ridge Campground, Amherst, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Much to my regret I ignored the previous reviews for this campground. The electrical voltage was so bad that we kicked the breaker several times even though we just used one appliance at a time. Don't be fooled by the web site. The campground is chopped out of a hillside. The sites are not level and poorly planned. It was nearly impossible to work our way between all the trees to get to a site that had a 10 inch drop from one end to the other. Other sites I saw had low muddy areas. The clubhouse was junky and had mismatched worn furniture. I will not stay here again. Next time I will park on the exit ramp of a highway rather than stay here. We camped at Timber Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.
