Heavenly Acres Campground, Stanardsville, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We needed two nights and this campground was a last minute booking. Our site wasn't level and took a bit of maneuvering. The grounds are in the woods and the campground was built inside the restrictions that would come with Virgina rolling hills. Overall, this appears to be a single owner/personal project campground. The owner/main guy was very nice and extremely friendly. They have a nice pool, which seemed to be the main draw. We camped at Heavenly Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Ocean Waves Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This was the first time staying at Ocean Waves Campground and we enjoyed it very much. The sites are cement pads and worked well for our 32' 5th Wheel. As you would expect the sites are close together, but there was ample room to park the truck in front of the 5th Wheel without any crazy maneuvering. We had full hookup and everything worked well. The bathrooms must have been cleaned numerous times a day because with the beach and sand near by you would think they would get nasty, but they were clean every time I visited. The beach is just a sand dune hop away. The beach is large and the ocean is beautiful - what a dream! We enjoyed a beach fire a couple times during our stay - loved it (you can get the free permit at the campground office). The camp office / store has a small/good selection of last minute things. They also have a selection of rental movies- although we never got one. We wanted to stay an extra 4 nights and we found that the staff was very helpful with this. In the end we only got 2 nights due to a full campground. We look forward to returning!! We camped at Ocean Waves Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Traverse City State Park, Traverse City, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This state park has more space than most when looking at width of sites. The length / depth is a bit short. The roads are very narrow and larger units have a hard time.

They had one new shower house / bathroom building, which was nice. The older buildings are run down.

They have nice fire rings. We camped at Traverse City State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tahoe Valley RV Resort, South Lake Tahoe, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

Tried to get into another park and just couldn't.... for months, so had to stay here.

This park is huge: lots of sites. The loop we were in was loud at night. People playing music in one site and people up late drinking right next to us (loud). We called in at night after hours, but nothing happened. We found out later the people staying next to us in a van and two tents, were employees. They have a 10pm quiet time listed in their literature, but their employees didn't follow it.

This is an older park and we noticed the big rigs having issues. They eventually got in, but it was not easy.

The did have a nice pool. Sites are dirt, roads are paved. The laundry was very big and worked well for us. There are no fire rings and no ground fires. The front office said we could rent a ring for 8.00 / night. We didn't do that.

For what you get it is over priced, but there are not many other options. We camped at Tahoe Valley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ainsworth State Park, Cascade Locks, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This was a great find for us. The CRG is right there and we could drive to everything.

Asphalt pull-through/pull-around site that was not very level. We had power, sewer, and water. Very shady area, which we liked.

We reserved online, arrived, pulled to our site. Never spoke to a single person. We came back after driving to a close attraction to a rear view mirror hanger on our picnic table. I've never been to a place like that. We camped at Ainsworth State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mystic Forest RV Park, Klamath, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a place to stay while visiting the redwoods and this RV park was centrally located for the area.

The check-in process was fast and friendly with the female owner. Our site #15 was on the end and was very large, but very sunny. Others down our row are close together. Water, sewer, 30 amp, and 12 channel TV all worked well. The WiFi worked well for us too (imagine that).

This is a quiet, small, family run place. It is not cement pads, hedges between each site, green grass, pool, kind of place. We happen to like this type of RV park.

We would stay here again. We camped at Mystic Forest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pioneer Trails RV Resort , Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to stay. Very wooded, beautiful grounds, spaced appropriately, etc.

They have dog breed paranoia. When you check in they go over a no breed / no mix list. Our dogs are mutts and this made us very uncomfortable because they said they kick people out if the feel the dog is that mix. I should have asked them to look at them before signing in. We had no issue after this, but know before you go.

They do not take credit cards. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This park was great for our Seattle based stop. It has full time RVs but they must control the age/condition because it was a nice place. They had hedges between the sites, a pond "lake", and beautiful landscaping.

The sites are very level and asphalt. Just a great place to stay. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is perfectly located on the east side of Glacier NP and they know it. It is pricey. The sites are well placed, gravel, and no thrills. I love that you can look out and see the mountains. They have a wonderful restaurant that serves family style. We camped at Johnson's Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Forks 101 RV Park, Forks, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of those half trailer park, half campground deals. The RV sites in the front are on gravel, back-ins, and very close together. The pull-through sites in the back are large, grassy, and spaced nicely. There are permanent / long term RVs that have seen better days. One gave me the creeps as it was about 17 feet long, had the utilities run through the window, blue tarp on the roof, all shades pulled, no car ever there yet someone inside... probably just me.

The WiFi signal was good, but we never got it to work. I really hate that. We camped at Forks 101 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Circle Creek RV Park & Campground, Seaside, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We were traveling down the coast and needed a place to stay along the way. This park is clean and well taken care of. They need to build more restrooms as we waited each time we used them. This medium sized park has narrow asphalt spots - I mean the area for the rig is narrow. Lot spacing was normal and the grass was nice. The price is a bit high for what you get. We camped at Circle Creek RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Sleepy Hollow RV Park, Wall, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed at this park two times and would stay again. Wall, SD and Wall Drug are within easy walking distance. The park is perfect for exploring the Bad Lands.

They have a great fenced-in dog area which we love. They also have a small swimming pool. The lot spacing is adequate and level. There isn't much shade at all.

We will stay here each time we pass through or visit. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I strongly recommend the minute man tour. The self guided look is nice, but go get a ticket and have someone take you underground to the control station. So..... unbelievable. Our tour guide actually worked at the facility. He knew every button.

Cozy Corners Campground, Oglesby, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a place near Starved Rock to camp for a few nights. Everything about the experience was smooth - booking a few months in advance, calling to double check the reservation, checking in, paying, setting up, and departing.

Know what you are getting:

-port-a-potties only

-shower room is little more than a plywood box/shed

-private property/basically in the yard of the owner

-near the road

When we arrived the owner drove over on his golf cart and helped us back into the spot. He is very kind and helpful. He brought over a 10 foot board to help me with the sewer line angle. We camped at Cozy Corners Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
