Lake Fairfax Park, Reston, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Very convenient location for visiting the DC area. With the recently opened Metro Silver Line, there is a stop only a few miles away. None of the sites have water or sewer, and about half have 50A electric service. The sites are reasonably spaced, and there is little shade. Sat TV and cell service were good. The camping area is high on a hill about a half mile from the lake/water park. The place is quiet on weekdays, but the water park and picnic areas are packed on weekends in the nice weather. We camped at Lake Fairfax Park in a Motorhome.

Toqua Campground, Vonore, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 10 days in October. Very nicely maintained park, but a bit expensive for what you get. They have longest list of rules I have ever seen. They actually lock the gate at 10pm. No alcoholic beverages visible at any time. All of the various parking restrictions did not seem to be consistently enforced, however. This is a place where campers bring all of their toys. We camped at Toqua Campground in a Motorhome.

Minooka Park, Jemison, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Just an overnight stay at a relatively new small park. As others have said, the focus here is on use of the trails. Rate reflects the fact that the site did not have a sewer connection. Everything is well-maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem is that none of my GPS apps could find this place. The turn-off was clearly marked, so no need to worry. Very pretty and quiet place. Would stop by again. We camped at Minooka Park in a Motorhome.

Paradise Lake and Campground, Keeling, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This was the scariest stop I have ever parked. I spent two nights here, and spent the whole time worried about how I was going to get my 40' MH out of there without damage. I did not succeed. The interior roads are in horrible shape. The trees are overgrown. As I slowly climbed the hill to the upper section, all I could think about was how I was going to get out. The site was reasonably large, but it was entirely gravel and dirt. I took my motorcycle out for a ride into Danville, but I was so afraid of dropping my bike on that hill that I did not go out again while I was there. When I left, I took my time trying to avoid the trees and rocks, but I got a bad scrape on the side. A guy who works there was following my slow and painful journey in his truck. When I got to the exit, I let him pass. As he did, he said that the office folks never should have put me in the upper lot. A very expensive stop that I will never forget. We camped at Paradise Lake and Campground in a Motorhome.
