Just returned today from a very pleasant stay at Lake Norman Motorcoach Resort. Helpful and friendly staff. Great water views. However, no amenities except a bar and what we considered to be overpriced boat and slip rentals ($200/day for pontoon boat if staying on site ($285 if off site), $25/day for slip rental). Great restaurant across the street. Few sites available for larger motorhomes -- if you have a 45 footer, stick to sites at the top of the hill. No pull thrus. Good security. Apparently this campground was originally planned to be site sales but owner is struggling and is now rental only. Rate was $55 per day for 2 adults and 2 children. Extra people $7 per day, max 6 per site. Free Wi-Fi but no cable or telephone. Small roped-off area for lake swimming. Apparently a pool was planned for 2010, but we were told that's not gonna happen. That's a shame because without a pool this is just an okay place -- with a pool it would be a great place! But don't get me wrong -- we will go back, if only for the proximity to home and the great views.

Please note that Ocean Lakes offers free wifi at a central location. You only have to pay a fee if you choose to receive wifi service at your site. We've visited every campground in the Myrtle Beach area, and Ocean Lakes is the only one we will stay at. You can make a reservation for a specific site. Security is great. Amenities are plentiful. We consider it our second home!

We have camped many times over a 20 year span in Fort Wilderness. Yes, it is a nice campground. Sites are very small, especially for a large motorhome towing a car hauler. As a staffer recently told us, they were designed for 26-28 foot camping trailers. Roads are tight, difficult to back into sites. Pets are charged $5 per night -- what does this money cover? Since we religiously clean up after our Mini Schnauzer, she isn't costing the campground anything. We last stayed in the 1900 loop. Every time we took her for a walk it took us 20 minutes to clean the droppings from the cypress trees out of her long hair. That being said, it truly is a magical place and we will happily continue to camp in FW. We just would like to see Disney expand the campground with a "big rig friendly" area.

Great campground in the southern part of Myrtle Beach. We've been camping here for 20 years and feel like it's our second home. If you visit during the summer months it will be packed to capacity and very loud. Since our kids are grown we tend to visit in the spring and fall when it is still pretty full, but the noise level is greatly reduced. Very friendly staff. Clean, well run campground. You can reserve a specific site, and they are all pull through. Lots of activities. We've visited every campground in the Myrtle Beach area, and this is by far our favorite. Wide beach, great security, very clean, friendly.

Most beautiful RV resort we've ever visited. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed on the site next door to one of their sales associates. She talked to us every day but was never pushy about sales. Our DS, DIL, and GS live in PSL, and they were welcome to visit us any time. No problem with a child in the CG. We will be visiting this resort frequently. But avoid it during baseball's spring training, as the Mets field is almost across the street and traffic can be really bad during that period.

While not as nice as the newer Outdoor Resorts, this is still a great campground! Large sites, well maintained. The entrance is a little tight for tall motorhomes - expect a little contact with tree branches. The only problem we had was with the man on the cart who led us to our site. He drove us past it twice and then expected us to back in at a severe angle. He apparently either wasn't familiar enough with the campground or has never driven a motorhome! But we really enjoyed our stay and expect to go back there soon. Lots of bike trails, easy one mile ride to the beach. Restaurants within walking distance. Friendly staff and relaxing area.
