Lake Conroe RV & Camping Resort / Thousand Trails, Willis, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park but they do have a few unpleasant things. We now have a 24' camper and tow a new covered 6x10" Haulmark trailer. They would not allow the trailer on any sites except their side by side pull throughs (section F). Not sure why they allow trailers there and no where else. These sites were re-graded in 2017 and filled with construction debris and large pieces of asphalt and concrete up to the size of a grapefruit. Very disturbing to spend thousands of dollars on a TT membership and be excluded from 90% of the sites. We use the trailer to haul a motorcycle and all the things we can't fit in a 24' motorhome after having a larger 41' bus. They are also charging $5 per package to receive UPS or Fedex here! That is outrageous! Might be time to sell the TT membership. We camped at Lake Conroe RV & Camping Resort / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Benchmark RV Park, Meridian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Called inroute same day to reserve a site and had to give credit card to hold a $16.50 reservation. Site was ok but cement pad was cracked and not level as well as having several massive anthills full of nasty biting ants. It is handy to the interstate and there's a fuel station/store across the street. We camped at Benchmark RV Park in a Motorhome.

Quiet Oaks RV Park, Kinder, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Decided to try this headed west on I-10. This is clearly not a destination park. sites were tight and almost all appeared to be permanent residents and workers living out of RV's. No one in office and just had us fill out an envelope with cash for Passport America (never saw a real person). They charged $22 although PPA site said $20. 10 miles off I-10. Site was level, water pressure ok and voltage was 116-118 volts. Appeared to be a decent laundry although we didn't use. Free wifi was ok but had to reconnect a few times. Vzw cell was 2-3 bars lte. Dirt road was bumpy and site was muddy after recent rains. Would not go 20 miles out of my way to return here again. We camped at Quiet Oaks RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good park when going between TX and NM. Pool wasn't open. Sites are gravel and fairly level. The restaurant is convenient and have eaten there a couple times now, but last time there my girlfriend paid with credit card for our meal and her card (which hadn't been used in 4 months) was hacked 2 days later and we had to go thru the hassle of getting another while on the road. We called them back and asked to speak to the manager and were told he would return our call and never did. I strongly recommend paying cash for your meal there. Otherwise, this place has been very reliable. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tra-Park RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Pecos, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no frills park. An Escapees co-op park. It it mostly populated long term by oil field workers (an Escapee worker told us it's their only park that makes money all year long, thanks to oil workers). We stayed on a Saturday night and it was quiet enough. We were parked a couple hundred yards from an oil rig but couldn't hear it with doors closed. We got a 50amp FHU but many are 30A. Check in was friendly and efficient. We had only called a couple hours ahead to see about a space. No warm and fuzzies here, or pools, spas and the like. Not a resort by any stretch, but was an ok place to stay while passing through headed east. Water pressure was good. I believe there was Tengo Net wifi but we didn't purchase it. Our VZW jet pack was getting 4 bars LTE. We camped at Tra-Park RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach RV Ranch, Deming, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a simple park. No pool or spa, but did have a nice clubhouse and very level sites. It's more or less a parking lot and was close but not bad. Satellite service was fine. Water pressure was good and electrical was good. We had a FHU pull through and left our tow vehicle attached overnight which was convenient as we were passing through heading east on I-10. The manager was super friendly and helpful and offered assistance anytime if needed (just call him). We would absolutely stop here again passing through. They also offered a reasonable monthly rate of $150. VZW was strong 4-5 bars LTE, and the free wifi was very good. We camped at Stagecoach RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

City of Rocks State Park, Faywood, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We went here on the suggestion of some friends and didn't have a reservation (strongly suggested, especially if you want electrical). This is such a cool place, it's worth the 30 mile ride from Deming. We called on a whim and got an electrical spot for night(There's about a dozen or so, some reservable, some 1st come 1st served). VZW service was 2-3 bars LTE. Water pressure was good. We camped at City of Rocks State Park in a Motorhome.

North Ranch - Escapees Rainbow Park, Congress, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Checkin was ok but they shorted us a day when we asked to arrive a day early then called us on the last day and almost implied we were dead beats over the phone. I had to go back and show them we had actually reserved another day and got no apology at all. Not what I would expect from Escapees. Park was ok. Dated a bit and RV area is really a dirt parking lot. It's a huge park and has full blown houses and RV casitas in year round areas. We walked around and got some free grapefruit, oranges and lemons folks left by the road in "free" boxes, very nice. While certainly not the nicest park we've been in, would stay again if in the area. No wifi on sites, VZW jet pack worked well with 3-4 bars LTE. Water pressure was fine. We camped at North Ranch - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails), Cottonwood, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice checkin and also helpful staff at the activity center. Unfortunately pool was closed and so was jacuzzi. Our site was a "2 rig site", meaning a"double" pull thru where 2 rigs face apposite directions and share a power pole & water/sewer area. Our slides on that side were about 3' from the neighbor's rig. Thankfully, we had a quiet neighbor for our 5 day stay. We camped at Verde Valley RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

The Scenic Road RV Park (55+ park), Quartzsite, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here a week after boondocking several days during the big gathering in the desert. Made reservation months earlier with the new owner who was great and very friendly/helpful during our stay, even coming by to ask if there was anything we needed. Water pressure was good. I used the free car wash facility which was nice. Free wifi was mediocre at best, which is a shame as te owner said he had (2) 25GB legs coming in but I think they weren't configured right, my tests never saw better than 1MB down and .5up. VZW was 4-5 bars LTE but towers overworked during Quartzsite RV event. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at The Scenic Road RV Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Canyon Vistas RV Resort (55+ park), Gold Canyon, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park off Rt 60 in Gold Canyon with beautiful views of the Superstition Mountains. We were put in the "transient area" as this is really about selling sites for year-round use. The transient area was nice and sites were fairly spacious, but hookups were all at the rear and needed a sewer extension to reach the hookup. We clearly were treated as second class at registration and the woman almost couldn't be bothered to explain anything to us when she knew we were only staying 3 days. Free wifi was not very reliable and quite slow most of the time. NO cable TV despite giving you a channel guide in the welcome packet but when I called to ask, the woman was very rude and let me know it was only for seasonals when I asked why a cable guide in the packet if no cable. I would not stay here without the PPA rate. No picnic table at site. VZW cell had 3-4 bars LTE and broadcast TV picked up over 40 channels when pointed at PHX. Good water pressure. The site pretty level. We camped at Canyon Vistas RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Countryside RV Resort, Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived on New Years day. No one at registration but a number to call got someone there quickly and they escorted us to a site along the road (Rt 88) which was busy and noisy. TT members get the lowest quality sites along the road and it was very tight backing in. Even the front entrance was a tight turn and a tight right-left combo at registration. Long class A's would do well to unhook prior to entering and have spouse drive vehicle in. Just prior to my arrival, a 5th wheeler had cleaned off the whole side of a car in a tight turn. It had rained that morning and the site was muddy. Water is hard and lots of minerals, woman who took us to site told us not to drink the water (no smell or anything). VZW was good thankfully as no free wifi or cable, but TV reception great (40+ channels), just point towards PHX. Nice amenities and people were friendly. TT was "free" but $4/day "resort fee". Very active golf community and was contacted by an onsite jeep club that has regular outings too. Sites were really close which is typical for the area and we were between 2 seasonal members, one of which was a permanent residence. But seasonals were well kept and free of clutter. We camped at Countryside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a nice little park. We had a pull thru and were just passing through for 1 night. The service was great and they were very courteous and helpful. They have a small diner onsite with limited but good menu and we enjoyed a good dinner meal there without having to unhook the jeep. Power and water were good. VZW cell service was 2-3 bars LTE. We didn't try our broadcast antenna but the park Wifi was decent. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort (55+ park), El Mirage, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park with a couple minor caveats. As others mentioned, it's close to a military base with F16's and F22's doing a lot of pattern work during the day. Also the whole 2 day a week trash thing with no dumpsters available at all. They were supposed to come on thursday so we put trash out and they didn't come, but the birds did and made quite a mess we had to clean up so we had to take our trash to a gas station while fueling the jeep. Other than that this place is neat as a pin, beautiful pool and hot tub, many other amenities and lots of activities. We were on a "deluxe" site which included cable and decent wifi. The cable is a box though which I had to connect outside but the remote was only infra red so I had to step outside to change channels. Water pressure was good and electric was steady at around 120vac. They lead me to the site and helped me back in. There was a small palm tree on the corner, but really was no problem backing in and site was crushed stone with a nice large cement patio. The hookups however were all at the rear (except sewer which was on the drivers side 3/4 of the way back). Water hose did reach but needed my 50amp ext cord for the electrical hookup or it would not have reached. I guess that works ok for 5th wheels and TT's? There are citrus trees all around and you are able to pick fruit from any non-permanent resident site. Front gate has security during day and secure combination access after hours. I really didn't find the jets annoying but many obviously do, but the 2 day a week trash thing was very annoying... there are some things you just don't want sitting in your rig 2-3 days waiting for trash (especially when they don't pick it up on the assigned day as I experienced). Beautiful facility with nice amenities and very friendly staff. VZW cell had 4 bars LTE. We camped at Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.
