Chapman Campground, Basalt, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Secluded park 30 miles from nearest "big" town - Basalt. On a reservoir which can be fished and other non-motor powered activities (paddle-boarding, canoe, etc - bring your own gear.) Very clean. Primitive campsites, RV sites and group site all available. Can reserve online. A favorite summer spot for our family. We camped at Chapman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section), Fruita, Colorado

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Didn't particularly like the surroundings (unattractive and right off highway), but it has all the conveniences one needs and is situated nearby various outdoor activities. Lot spacing was nearby with generally sunny/open exposures. Site surface was a concrete pad featuring a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Mosquitoes can be horrendous: bring spray AND plan to stay in at certain times of day. Incredibly hot in summer: unbearably so at times.
