Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This place is pretty amazing. The scenery is spectacular. We saw turkeys, road runners and tarantulas in the campground. The park staff were great. They have 3 or 4 campgrounds within the canyon. We were assigned to Hackberry. It was nice, paved, level with easy hook ups. I would guess it's newer than some of the others. The bath house was modern and clean. We would absolutely stay here again, just not in June. Wow it was hot! We camped at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Be sure to see the musical Texas at the outdoor amphitheater , it's very well done! There is no cell signal whatsoever once you are in the canyon. Be sure you have all the supplies you need before you head down, it's remote.

This was fine for an overnight. The park is just okay. Certainly needs some maintenance/updating. Easy access to I40. It served it's purpose for an overnight rest. I wouldn't hurry back. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tucumcari is unfortunately a fading little town. I can't really recommend anything to see there. There is a small, decent grocery store if you need supplies.

Railside RV Ranch, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This place was excellent! We really enjoyed staying here as our base camp to the Grand Canyon. It's about 45-60 minute easy drive to the Canyon. Williams is a really cool little town. There's a nightly "gunfight" that was well performed and provided good entertainment. Plenty of shops and grocery store. The staff here was great. They do a free breakfast every morning for the campers. We were there for the 4th of July and they provided a day long cookout with burgers, hot dogs etc. We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Railside RV Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice park right off of I40. Very clean with friendly staff. Private, well maintained bat houses. Nice laundry and a great pool. Very close to the Cadillac Ranch. There is fuel right at the exit for the park. We stayed here twice and were pleased both times. The first time we called on our way as our plans had suddenly changed and they were very accommodating. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Maumelle COE, Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful Army Corp of Engineers campground on the Arkansas River. Our site backed up to the river. The site was paved and just wide enough for our travel trailer and fairly level. Plenty of trees. We had a covered picnic area with gravel. Close to everything you may need. The bath house was the better part of really hot. It is Spartan with no ventilation, clean but in June I wouldn't even think about trying to use it. It would be great in the Spring or Fall. We camped at Maumelle COE in a Travel Trailer.

Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This was a pretty nice park. It's about 7 or 8 miles outside of Santa Fe with a pretty easy drive to get into the city. It's dated but well maintained. The pool is decent. They have a movie night every night for the kids with a little theater room. The store is well stocked. Our only complaint was the odor from the septic system near the entrance. I'm not sure if it's like that all the time obviously but was rather noticeable during our visit. Overall we would stay here again. We camped at Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This a really nice KOA! We stayed here twice about 2 weeks apart. Very nice staff and facilities. The pool was great. Close to I40 but not close enough to be a problem with regards to noise. The bath house is very nice with private showers and bathroom. Most sites are pull through. Fuel is close by. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Overall Rating:

This park was really fun and worked out well for access to downtown. The park is well maintained. A very well stocked store with the majority of what you may need. We got to enjoy some really good live music at the campground. Bath house/laundry is well maintained and updated. Each site has a concrete pad with a picnic table although you park on gravel. We will certainly be back. We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Moonshine Creek Campground, Balsam, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice campground. All sites back up to the creek, plenty of trees for shade. Well manicured. By far the nicest bath house we've encountered. The sites are on the small side. I had just enough room for the travel trailer and the truck had to be parked sideways pretty close. This certainly wouldn't keep us from staying there again as we have already booked it for September. We had pretty much no Verizon service at all. We paid $3/night extra for "cable" hook up. I think it consisted of about 13 channels. We camped at Moonshine Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Yogi In The Smokies, Cherokee, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

What an excellent campground. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Activities were well planned. The location on the river is very nice. There is plenty to do. Our site was full hook up and everything functioned well. The park is well maintained. The pool was nice. You can rent tubes for the river. We had a great time floating down it. There's good fishing as well. It was very family oriented and the kids had great time. The camp office/store has pretty much everything you might need if you forgot something. Can't wait to go back next year. We camped at Yogi In The Smokies in a Travel Trailer.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is certainly one of the nicest private campgrounds that we've stayed at so far. The staff were quite friendly. The campground is very well maintained. Very clean restrooms and showers. Nice amenities, the wifi signal was pretty decent at our site. It is built into a hill so there are different levels. The very top level has pretty amazing views. It is hard to book one of those. Very close access to I40, grocery store, gas and Asheville. We were on a concrete pad but most sites appeared to be gravel. We will certainly be back. New River State Park, Laurel Springs, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is one the nicest State Parks we've visited. As others have stated it's small. It's very nicely maintained. Our Camp Host was friendly. It's one of the few State Parks we've stayed at with full hook up. Gorgeous area. There is some road noise from 221 if you're near the top of the park but it wasn't terrible. Certainly the nicest bathhouse I've seen at State Park. It's an easy drive down to a nice day area by the river. We'll be back! We camped at New River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stone Mountain State Park, Roaring Gap, North Carolina

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We have camped here several times and have always had a good experience. This time was the earliest in the season that we have stayed. It was not crowded and understandably some of the facilities were still winterized. B Loop has some great RV sites with a stream running through the middle. There's easy access to the Stone Mountain Loop Trail which takes you up top and you can also walk down and check out the falls. The sites are fairly large with a nice fire ring. Very family friendly. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. I will say some of the sites are a little small for any travel trailers or fifth wheels greater than 30 feet so look at the details closely before reserving. One thing I actually like is that there is little to no cell phone service in the park. It is nice to shut that down for a weekend with family. We camped at Stone Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Taps RV Park, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

My wife and I stayed here for the sole purpose of being as close as possible to downtown Asheville. It works well for that. I wanted to visit their breweries and did NOT want to worry about driving! I think you just need to have realistic expectations prior to staying here. First off, the owner is quite pleasant and helpful. He's not there all day but can be reached by phone if you need him. The park is small with several long term residents. If you aren't comfortable with your rig in tight places this may not be a good place for you. This is not an "RV Resort" in my mind. We didn't put the awning out, hang lights and plan to meet and greet! We were on the river which was nice. The sites are concrete and it's the first place in a while that I didn't have to use leveling blocks. Full hook up. Wifi was above average. Bathrooms are old, relatively clean if you ask me, not so much if you ask my wife! There is a train that runs rather routinely within a couple hundred yards. It is loud, it's a train. It didn't bother me but it may bother you. Overall if we needed access to downtown for a weekend I would stay here again. It's not a place I would bring the family a weekend of "camping". If we were traveling and needed to overnight it for a rest, this place would be fine. Very close to I40. We camped at Taps RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
