I camped there in March 2007. I was concerned with the negative reviews and when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised! It is not overgrown; it is well maintained. It is in the Keys so the roads are sandy and there are many, many palm trees for a very tropical feel. The pool was heated and nice and warm. It is a small campground so make your reservations early! Sites are small but that goes with the area where land is a premium. We live in a beach community in NJ so we are used to it. The area around it is not that bad. Some older trailers, but remember the land is a premium so even small houses are big $$$. So how bad an area could it be? We had no problems, nice, don't think twice. The pop up sites are small. We had a waterfront site!

Date of Stay:

We have been camping at Tropical Palms for over 12 years and we are even an honored guest. We made reservations for my sister's wedding week 6 months in advance. We only book the supersites because over the years we have had problems in other areas. Lake side is very buggy; another area floods if it rains etc. So we booked way ahead of time. When we arrived they had given our supersite to someone else and had overbooked the campground by 8 sites! We were put in the back near nothing and were very disappointed. Plus it took 3 hours to check us in. so I had to have someone come and get my Mom so the other of the bride didn't miss her daughter's bridal shower. As it is, I missed my sister's shower after driving 1100 miles! It used to be privately owned and now Encore has taken over and not doing the best job. The new manager is nice, and has been brought in to straightened it out so we will see. I would check your reservation before arriving! I suggest a supersite!
